Dr. Kevin Mark Deitel

At first, Kevin was kind and informative with his treatment. When his diagnosis proved to be wrong, Kevin's relaxed attitude turned sour. He condescended and dismissed when challenged by diagnosticians with more expertise. Concerned for his own ego, he couldn't offer basic treatment. Treatment that could have saved me a great deal of pain and hardship. His diagnostic abilities for chronic conditions are outdated, and needs to brush up on advancements in the past decade. I apologize and sympathize with those who Kevin has dismissed, and hope that he treats his future patients with more care.

I only had to wait 8 minutes in the lobby to be called-in from my given appointment time. The competency of the physician was excellent. He very quickly described my medical condition and what to do to fully recover. Also, a very friendly individual who cares about his patient wellbeing…

Very professional specialist, and I have high hopes for a complete recovery from my surgery. I feel like I am in good hands !!!!

Front staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Deitel took the time to read my medical history and look at my MRI's. He gave me his opinion, recommendation and a plan for further treatment. All in all, it was a very good experience.

Dr Deitel was my Surgeon. And after all these 15 years I still function normally. And actually walked out of the hospital after 24 hours. As a nurse who still performs patient care regularly- that is exceptional! Everyone should realize there is no crystal ball in medicine - every patient presents differently and will experience different outcomes. My experience with Dr Dietel from start to finish was outstanding and although he practices outside of San Diego these days I still speak of his work fondly. So-to those of you who may require his particular surgical or consultative skill set and are located in his area of service you must include Dr Dietel in at least one of your consultative searches. Great all the way around

I've been a patient of Dr. Deitel for about two years. My wife came with me to most office visits and procedures. We had a good connection with him and thought of him as a friend. We felt these visits were very important to help me overcome severe sciatica. Based on an MRI I took outside of this practice, he felt he could cure my back issues with surgery. The minimally invasive surgery was ruled out because of the severity. We decided to try epidurals first. I had little success with the results of these. I asked him if we shouldn't look at surgery again and his reply shocked me. He said my back was too bad for any surgery. I'm not too sure how he came to that since I never had another MRI. I was shocked and disappointed because we felt he was not only a great doctor, but a friend as well. We think the world of him and feel he is a gifted surgeon. His staff is wonderful. I have no real complaints other than I guess this is how I have to live my life.

Definitely did not listen, told me surgery was all he could offer for a herniated disc when its only been 2 weeks since epidural shot. Told me to look up "herniated disc" on Wikepedia, apparently Wikepedia knows more than he does? Horrible doctor.

Everyone is so friendly. Dr.Deitel took his time with me and explained my pain.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Deitel yesterday, January 12, 2021, at 2:30 PM, for an Recommended Epidural for nerve pain, lower right back and leg. He and his staff are absolutely First Rate Professionals, who make certain the procedures are fully explained in detail. I would recommend Dr. Deitel without hesitation to all needing his services.

Dr. Deitel referred me for unnecessary back surgery when I presented symptoms of piriformis syndrome with a chiropractor’s opinion. This egregious medical recommendation of back surgery for a minimal disc bulge which did not correlate with my extreme pain was further complicated by an incision wound infection. His misdiagnosed treatment drastically delayed my recovery and compromised my health. BEWARE of Deitel’s medical judgment and referral for profit-generating procedures!

He is very friendly & answered all questions & concerns. He took his time explaining xray & ct scan results & made us feel at ease. I would highly recommend him .

Dr. Deitel is a professional, kind, informed, caring and patient surgeon with an incompassing easy going nature and sense of humor that puts people as ease. He has always been straight forward with me about my spinal condition and treatments. I am thankful I was referred to him and his office Ventura Orthopedics, Oxnard location.

I think the good doctor is a fine physician. Having said that I was doing very well with the physical therapy from Livingston Nurses Association after my hip surgery. I have other issues including cancer and brittle bones from prednisone use for the cancer. So the physical therapy was very helpful. All of a sudden Dr. Deitel stopped the physical therapy much to the amazement of the nurse and physical therapist. I begged and pleaded for six more sessions of therapy which I needed desperately. No Way according to the “good doctor “ because of some deal that Ventura Orthopedics had with the county and insurance companies to see that people got off of the physical therapy faster. Like I said I begged his assistant Lisa to speak to him about it AND to call me if he had the “balls”. Needless to say I never heard from him and the therapy stopped. Also needless to say he doesn’t give a hoot about his patients after they are out of the hospital. I will never recommend him as a surgeon who has his patients best interest in mind. There are plenty of other orthopedic doctors in Ventura County. I think the good doctor is a fine physician. Dr. Deitel did back surgery on me in 2012 for a herniated disc (L4-5). He did an excellent job, was always professional and personable and I would gladly go back to him if I had any further serious back problems. Highly recommended.

He was a work comp doctor I saw 3/25/19, This doctor did not care for me at all.I told him I have back pain and even fractured it in 2015, 3 other doctors say I needed surgery, Dr. Dietal said after viewing the MRI and Xray that i'm fine said its a strain. I told him i'm in pain everyday it hurts to sit/stand/ bend/ lift/ and walk. The doctor told me to touch my toes and then felt my back and said "yeahh". This guy is the worst.......I would suggest he take up a career in auto body maintenance following my experience with him. While I was hospitalized, he initially refused to come to the hospital (despite being taken their by ambulance and an inability to walk). When he finally showed up, he stated, "You can't be in that much pain," and then walked out the door. Good news? I fired him that day. Stay away from this guy!!!!!

I was so disappointed in my most recent visit with Dr. Deitel. I went to him to talk about a, current serious medical condition, that I have recently encountered and he spent "my office visit time" discussing another Dr./friend of his and HIS current medical condition. I was extremely saddened by this behavior.

I had an injury involving a herniated disc. Dr. Deitel started out ok, but he started to push me towards surgery before letting me go through other less invasive options. When I expressed that I wanted to hold off surgery until I exhausted other options, he became confrontational, dismissive, impatient, and condescending. Because I didn’t want to do the surgery that he wanted to do right away, he sent me back to work, even though I was still in pain. I would not recommend him to anyone, ever.

Whew! After months of agonizing pain, Dr. Deitel's methodical approach to narrowing down the root cause and finally bringing my excruciating pain to an end is nothing short of a god-sent miracle. Without a doubt, he has our support and trust. And given the fact that both my parents are doctors, I have pretty high bar when it comes to evaluating a practitioner in this line of work. Deitel is the best!

Patient with spinal fractures was put in a steel back brace. Pain was 10+ and I thought I was going to die! Never would I send my worst enemy to this Dr Deitel Next Doctor put me in the hospital to try to repair compression fractures!

Dr Deitel did a Great job getting me straightened up. He performed 2 procedures. I feel he was straight forward with real responses to my questions and he didn't pull the punches when I wanted to know what's going on and what to expect. The Staff were always helpful and friendly.
