Staff is competent, thorough and spent an adequate amount of time on every visit to address any questions I posed. I have used Dr. Coolbaugh for years. He neither encouraged nor discouraged a prescription change when my vision change was minimal during my last exam. He did suggest an annual exam rather than the biennial exams I have had in the past, after he determined beginning cataracts. I feel he has my best interests in mind whenever I see him.

I spent nearly three hours for an exam and then was scheduled to come back for more testing. Very disorganized. It charges $100 for refraction, which no insurance covers. Most similar optometrists charge $30-45. Refraction takes but a few minutes to perform. This place seems to play a patient based upon the insurance type. I'm not confident at all with this provider.

Logan was very kind, empathetic, and still professional. the ladies at reception and exit are very polite and helpful. the rest of the staff leaves more to be desired. Dr. "Kevin" barely says hello before he is already out the door and his assistant with the ratty blonde hair and the nose ring is extremely rude.

I went to see Dr. Coolbaugh for an acute eye issue I was experiencing. He spent most of the entire visit looking at himself in the mirror while speaking with me. I felt as though my concerns were dismissed and ignored. I was specifically told that I did not have any abnormality in my eyes whatsoever. Needless to say my symptoms persisted over the next couple of weeks and even got worse. I went to see another Opthalmologist in the area for a second opinion. I was given a thorough exam and was definitively diagnosed with the exact condition Dr. Coolbaugh had assured me I did not have. There are other options in Roanoke for retinal specialists that can be found with a simple Google search. I would look elsewhere for competent care.
