In 2003 I suffered a TBI. Without Dr Vives and his team, I doubt I would have survived. Thanks to their expert care and professionalism, I made a full recovery. Honestly, it is difficult to express the profundity of my appreciation for this. In a situation where the best prognosis would have involved some kind of disability or impairment, the outcome was nothing short of a miracle. Thank you, Dr Vives!

Dr. Vives is excellent in explaining what the diagnosis is. He is very aware of patient circumstances (I live about 2 hours away and drive to see him). One appointment of mine he was called away for an emergency. Before leaving he read my MRI reports and left a message through nurse that all is fine and when I needed to schedule moving forward. Very considerate. Excellent office staff.

Fortunately for us in Sarasota, Florida, Dr Vives has relocated. He is a highly skilled neurosurgeon, with a good personality and bedside manner. What an opportunity his presence in Sarasota has provided for complex surgery without having to leave town.

I had to follow up with Dr. Vives regarding a head injury and the resumption of blood thinners. He was caring, informative, cautious. I feel privileged to have gotten into this office as they are probably the best neurosurgeons in the area. The wait time in the office was minimal and the rest of the staff was pleasant.

A tad abrasive at first but excellent at explaining my problems and which treatments would benefit me.

Dr. Vives was great listened to me and explained everything. Answered my questions and he is taking a conservative approach he did not jump to surgery. I highly recommend him.

On April 30, 2006 my daughter was in a severe ATV accident which left her with a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord fracture (C 1,2 &3), as well as other injuries. If it was not for Dr. Vives my daughter would not be with us today. He drove from his home to preform emergency brain surgery on my daughter. Not only did my daughter make a full recovery but earned her degree in Human Services. There are no words to say how eternally grateful I am to Dr. Vives and all he has done. Donna Kuhl

This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a doctor. I wish that I could give him zero stars in every category. This guy is rude, insensitive, and talks down to you. I implore you. Do NOT go to this unfeeling poor excuse of a man never mind doctor.

One of the widest gaps to fill in my experience (sadly enough I have a great deal of it....) with neurosurgeons is the knowledge/explanation gap. Dr. Ken Vives did a great job of eloquently explaining and simplifying the various scenarios pre and post surgery that made me and my family feel incredibly at ease. *Surgery was a success of course.

Dr Vives: I dont feel you have the compassion towards this perticular patient,Here we had a 26 year old with c/p. That was going in for a Baclofen pump. Knowing the parent had alot of concerns. Now one week later my son has a fever of unknown source. Did we hear from you? No Did you come to see him in E.D. No you sent a lacky. I am very disppleased and as far as my son I sure hope that he gets better. All that we wanted from you is to acknowldige us or him.
