Dr. Akizuki is an excellent, skilled surgeon! He did a great job on my left knee and I’m anticipating my right knee being done soon. He’s always late but worth the wait!

My first appointment with Dr.Akazuki was Aug. 4th. He said I needed to have aliner for my knee prosthesis in order to stabilize my knee. He said he would call manufacturer to see if they made a liner for my prosthesis. As of today, Oct.4th, it's been 3 months and according to his staff,he has mot made the call to manufacturer. I requested my medical records so I can take them to another orthopedic surgeon. Dr, Akazuki covers 3 offices and is deoted to taking care of his baseball celebrities. If your not a star, don't bother trying to seek help from him. My first appointment with Dr.Akazuki was Aug. 4th. He said I needed to have aliner for my knee prosthesis in order to stabilize my knee. I have to say he is probably one the best doctors out there. This review is based on my knee injury, which didn't require surgery but I can't say enough good things about him. He is just an awesome guy and knows his stuff and has a wonderful staff.

I am writing this post nearly 5 years after Dr. Akizuki fixed my knee. It was my third ACL & Meniscus tear on the same knee and I was desperate to get back to the things I love doing (basketball/golf/snowboarding). I'm back doing the things I love and my knee feels great. I feel like Dr. Akizuki gave me my life back in way. He is a gifted surgeon, straight shooter and funny as hell. If I could give him 6 stars, I would. Thank you Dr. Akizuki! I am writing this post nearly 5 years after Dr. Akizuki fixed my knee. Destroyed my shoulder by performing a ligament tightening procedure. We agreed to do labral repair. You wanted to tighten the ligaments. I was very clear that you could do the labral repair and not the procedure to tighten the ligaments. While I was under anesthesia, you did the labral repair. You also did the ligament-tightening procedure. This ruined my shoulder. I have been living in pain and discomfort for five years. I would pay any amount of money to undo what you did.

He’s the best, I recommend him to anyone I know who needs to see an orthopedic surgeon, especially if it’s a knee issue. If you are active or an athlete, he respects your desire to continue being active and provides recommendations with that in mind. He explains in detail what is going on and what options there are to fix it and will help alleviate any pain and discomfort in the meantime with quick treatments in the office. I’ve been seeing him 15+ years and will see him again if the need arises.

I’ve been seeing Dr Akizuki for 15+ years. I had the unfortunate genetics that gave me two misaligned patella and he has performed 4 surgeries (in 2005, 2010 & 2020) in order to correct them - 2 minor scopes and 2 more extensive procedures to properly align my patella and replace damaged cartilage. He is a straight shooter and tells you what’s wrong and how to fix it or how to manage it. He works with athletes so he understands that we want to continue to be active, even if it’s not the best thing for our injury, so he doesn’t push you one direction or another. He gives you all the information to make the decision on treatment that you feel is best. I wouldn’t trust anyone else and I’m so thankful I’ve been able to continue seeing him all these years. Thanks to him, I look forward to leading a physically active life for many more years to come!

Dr. Akizuki worked on fixing my left knee which I had ruined from running and extensive day to day use. He was really thorough at explaining the surgery and recovery process to me in terms of implications and consequences. He is very approachable and has a great sense of humor. I really appreciated his expertise. Definitely an amazing doctor - highly recommended! His office staff is very friendly and prompt. Jen and the team work really hard to keep the busy schedule in check. Dr. Akizuki worked on fixing my left knee which I had ruined from running and extensive day to day use. He really is that good. He made sure to come to the hospital the day after my shoulder replacement surgery. Checked on the scar and changed the dressing. He took quite a bit of time with my husband and me, explaining the procedure and was equally attentive and informative at the post-op appointment. His office is busy, but well worth the wait.

6/17/19 - Two plus years post MACI surgery and my knee continues to be weaker than before surgery along with limited feeling in my right foot - (see knee picture taken 6/17/19). My knee now literally gives out if I step on it just right - consulting now with other doctors to determine best next steps, including full knee replacement. I would NEVER have done the MACI surgery knowing what I know now. A total failure as I live the post surgery reality every day. 10/1/18 - 16 months post MACI surgery and over a year of physical therapy my knee is still HUGE (see picture taken 10/1/18) with ongoing pain and weaker than before surgery - and to this day I still have limited feeling in my right foot. Knowing my experience now, I would never have done the surgery. Flash back to 5/31/17...I went into surgery with Dr. Akizuki for a Right Knee Scope MACI. The surgery started hours past the original surgery time. With the initial plan to stay three days in the hospital post-surgery, I developed a life-threatening illness, hyponatremia, and was in the hospital 11 days. A critical question that was never answered by the doctor or hospital was how does one develop hyponatremia when going in for knee surgery? I've spent countless hours in physical therapy, thousands on medical costs, and visited additional specialists to address my post-surgery issues. My results are not at all what I expected. 6/17/19 - Two plus years post MACI surgery and my knee continues to be weaker than before surgery along with limited feeling in my right foot - (see knee picture taken 6/17/19). Did an ACL replacement 8 years ago in my mid 40's, he was great and my knee has held up well. Have almost no scar, seen some nasty scars on a few Canadians who had this. Knew I had the right doctor when he came in to one appointment post surgery with his Giants Word Series ring on, he fixed up the freak Timmy!

I had extensive shoulder surgery in March of 2017. Some of the injuries to my shoulder were supposed to be "irreparable". However, Dr. Akizuki saw that as a challenge and he fixed it completely! I have been back to roping steers since the spring of this year. Great doctor!

Dr. Akizuki is the BEST doctor I have EVER come across (and I'm 60 years old so that's out of a lot of doctors). He actually cares, he talks to you like a human being and his work is incredible. I cannot recommend him more highly or with more enthusiasm.

I am only 2 week out of my second acl reconstruction and meniscus repair... having had this same surgery a few years apart I feel like I am a pretty good critic. This doctor is the best maybe in the world- bedside manner more than five stars... the first surgery I had I was on the heavy painkillers for over a week and I was off them in 2 days this time. In an era in healthcare where some doctors spend 90 seconds with you... he consistently went over and above to explain the procedure and why he was doing certain things... I cannot say good enough things about him! To top it off I had surgery on a Wednesday and on the Sunday night after he gave me a follow up call to ask how I was doing and answer any questions I had... *jaw drop* *mic drop* If you want the best - go here I am only 2 week out of my second acl reconstruction and meniscus repair... having had this same surgery a few years apart I feel like I am a pretty good critic. I had my ACL replaced 2 weeks ago and I am already in physical therapy and my recovery is progressing nicely. Dr Akizuki also made me feel very comfortable with the process due to his down to earth bed side manner. I highly recommend going to him!
