At some point Dr Akey sold out and became another generic doctor patient mill. If its not a super basic standard protocol they dont have time for you. This is a massive departure from care he and his staff used to provide. He lost something big when he decided to go to the telemedicine portal for all appointments. It must be nice to live in Montana and spit out 10-20 virtual patient visits a day. I guess that's what you do when you should retire but still want to bring in some revenue. I was stunned! This is our third pediatrician try and I have found home. I have never in my life seen a doctor themselves get down on their knees on the floor to give a child a shot. That is usually reserved for nurses. He practices preventive care to prevent illness and talked my 11 year old about nutrition which trust me it’s nice to have someone else besides just mom and dad advocating for that. We’re going to add to the awesome review train here. We are visiting from Austin, TX and our 14 month old got sick. Went here on recommendation- they offered us a same day appointment. If you are looking for a pediatrician who is more interested in prevention than writing prescriptions, he’s your guy. Genuine, passionate, knowledgeable and helpful. We left with a game plan on boosting my sons’s immune system through healthy eating and supplements. I am so thankful to have him in our area. As a family we have decided to eat clean and eliminate things from our lives that are just not beneficial. I found a doctor who not only respects that but was very encouraging and offered me additional resources. He spent time getting to know my son and getting a feel for our family. We absolutely LOVE Dr. Akey and his staff! The office is warm, welcoming & clean! We immediately felt at home when we walked in! We appreciate Dr. Akey’s approach to us as parents, he is highly intelligent and helps to educate us as parents, he comes alongside us to support us and our decisions as parents. Dr. Akey is amazing with children! He is always very caring and genuine. He focuses on nutrition and tries to help kids naturally before relying on antibiotics. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my kids.

Wonderful experience! We are here visiting family in Georgia as we are from Oklahoma! So while we were here our little 18 month wasn’t feeling too great and they got us in same day we called! This doctor is incredible!! I'm so thankful I found this office. Never have I experienced a Pediatrician like this in all of my years in the medical profession as well as being a mommy! Dr. Akey is so caring and cares about wellness and wholeness of his patients. He is not just looking to prescribe a pill and send you home. He wants to see your child experience full wellness and healing. In fact, we went with his recommendation of some specific wellness therapies for our daughter who was experiencing a rash and sore throat. After seeing Dr. Akey and taking some probiotics faithfully, she did NOT need to even fill her antibiotic prescription. She was all better!! Thank you Dr. Akey, for caring for the whole person, and for taking time to even pray with us. I've never had a better experience with a Pediatrician. You're the best. Dr Akey is hands down the best Dr I have ever met in my entire life, and I was a very ill child. From the moment he comes in the room, you feel his genuine care for your child. He treats the entire child, mind & body. I love that he educates families on how healthy living and eating enables the body to heal itself, however he meets you where are you are. He listens to you & your child & is respectful of a mother's intuition. He is so knowledgeable & really know his stuff. Words could never fully express what a blessing he is to our family. Dr. Akey was very professional and really took the time to listen to my boyfriend’s daughters concerns as well as ours. His staff was very friendly and we felt right at home. The facility is very nice as well. We definitely plan on coming back here :)

I just had the 1st consultation with Dr Akey and was so impressed that I switched to him from our previous pediatrician right away. This is the Dr. I have been looking for! Even though it was only an initial consultation, he gave us lots of information, suggestions and recommendations right away. He seems passionate about educating patients on healthy eating and lifestyle to correct disease and prevent it from happening in the first place rather than just prescribing some drug to cover symptoms.

I couldn't imagine my children ever seeing a doctor who wasn't Dr. Akey. 4 years ago he walked into our hospital room and immediately we had his attention! Yes, you read that correctly, he was listening to us! He was taking in our wishes as parents and since that day he has continued to do so. His staff is incredible and has always made us feel welcome and invited in. Its also a true testament to how much they truly care when his wife is up there answering phones and scheduling visits as well. Dr. Akey is thorough. He takes his time to look over each child. Does that sometimes extend your appointment time? Yes, however I can assure you that the next child up gets the same time and attention. He interacts with our three kids in such a manner that's tailored to their needs. I also love that he is all for natural remedies and good foods. That in and of itself is rare. if you want a doctor who is in this to genuinely care for your child and enjoys what he does, you cannot over look Dr. Akey. If you want a doctor who listens to you, and I mean Ive personally called his office at 6am because my son had a bloody nose and I panicked, Hes your guy. Hes a doctor who is on your side! I really wanted to like him. My bradley instructor spoke highly of him and it sounded like the type of doctor we wanted to work with. I wasn't sure about him from the start. For one, it seems to be a revolving door over there. He was our pediatrician for whole year but never remembered any of our names. There are appointments scheduled every 15 minutes which left little time to ask questions afterwards sometimes. He always seemed rushed and like his mind was elsewhere. He would ask me a question and then answer it for me. Towards the end, it didn't seem worth it to drive all the way to Mission Viejo. The other thing is the people working the front desk. His wife is VERY unprofessional. I had one instance in which i cancelled the morning before an appointment but it wasn't technically 24 hours, it was 21 hours lol. Although i get the inconvenience to them, i had completely forgotten about it and this was the only time it had ever happened. I called to reschedule the appointment and the front desk almost made it seem like i had to make that appointment and they wouldn't give me another one. Then they passed the phone to Dr Akey's wife to tried to almost scold me LOL. It was just very weird, awkward, and unprofessional. Last straw was when we were told they were questioning whether they wanted us back because there was a bill we had overlooked, which we paid that day it was brought to our attention at the office. A comment was made that Dr Akey's wife might not want us to return. My husband made a joke that if she wasn't taking us back, then there was no reason to pay. His wife later called us and said that she would not allow us to return unless we apologized to her entire staff, which is a bit absurd. Love Dr Akey- he truly cares and looks at alternatives and natural treatments to help my daughter out. We appreciate his ability to be open minded about overall health.

We drive all the way down to Mission Viejo from East Yorba Linda! I visited 4 pediatricians before finding Dr Akey and I will stick with this man for as long as he is in business! He is kind and caring and my daughter enjoys going to see him. (Unless there's a shot involved haha) Thank you Dr. Akey and staff! You are all wonderful!

?I love taking my daughter to see Dr. Akey!!! He and his staff were not only professional but were so friendly and me my daughter and I feel special and important. I have NEVER experienced such a fantastic bedside manner from a doctor. From the moment we met him we felt comfortable (my daughter is 15 and you know how picky teen girls can be). He not only performed his duty as a PD, but was so informative as to specific diet and supplements to take.

From initial consultation this doctor has felt like a family member. Such a sweet soul. Truly cares!! Came highly recommended by dear friends.

Always rushed, like his mind was elsewhere. He does seem great with kids but there is little attention to patients. Front desk is horrible. It's run by his wife who is a total drama show. Very unprofessional and inappropriate. Not worth the trouble. You see the doctor for about 5 minutes and it's on to the next.

Dr. Akey has seen all 3 of my kids, the oldest being 28 and the youngest being 16. I cannot provide a strong enough recommendation for Dr. Akey. He is the most wonderful and caring pediatrician. His recommendations are holistic and healthy. He does not push drugs unless called for. All of my kids absolutely love Dr. Akey.

Akey is such a great guy and an even better doctor. He loves your kids and cares so much and even sings to then. I have recommended him to all my friends and I live in Ladera Ranch.

We are very excited to have Dr. Akey back!! After he moved, we got to experience other medical care and it was nothing like what Dr. Akey offers. Dr. Akey takes a personal interest in every patient and family. He's knowledgeable and up-to-date about current medications and procedures. Dr. Akey cares and about the whole child (social/emotional/values development), not just physical earmarks. Dr. Akey also takes into account each child's history (illness patterns, former antibiotics/medications) when he treats each illness, and he will use this family knowledge to to prepare/prevent/treat the spread of the illness through the family. All three of our children love Dr. Akey (even as he writes "OK" with a smiley face on their hands as a reminder to say "Ok, Mommy") and each has developed his/her own relationship with him. Dr. Akey's new office space is beautiful and peaceful. We used to drive from Newport to Orange and although it is about the same distance now from Newport to Mission Viejo, the drive is much more pleasant, the parking easier and overall it is more convenient. Of course, the drive would never stop us from seeing such a marvelous, unique, generous and loving doctor. We are very excited to have Dr. Akey back!!
