Katherine Louise Kalthoff

Speciality firm soled shoes were recommended by an orthoist my daughter saw at Pacific Medical, Inc. to accommodate the brace prescribed by an orthopedic at Orthopedic Specialists of Sacramento. We were provided a listing of local offices who sell Dr.Comfort shoes from their 800 number and contacted Dr. Kalthoff's office for an appointment. As soon as my daughter and I were greeted by Dr. Kalthosff, she seemed surprised we were there and said what brought us in. My daughter explained to her she would like specialty shoes for the brace being made for her right club foot. Dr. Kalthosff said she normally sees patients up in age or has medical issues with diabetes. She continued to say she doesn't like to work with other doctors and that we were being "taken for a ride" and that places "pressure on her " to make sure shoes accommodate their products that she does not feel is medically necessary. She then continued to rant about not getting paid by insurance companies including Medi-Cal (which I reminded her we have Anthem PPO), and these doctors are suggesting treatments that aren't necessary. She then said my daughter's feet weren't that bad and that she couldn't have arthritis because she is so young. She then asked if we had seen a podiatrist before. Yes, we have seen several specialists over the years in San Jose (where we were living, prior to moving to the Sacramento area) she then said what other medications or health conditions she has. Other than surgeries for her club foot and left leg shortening surgery, no other surgeries. I thought to myself, what would this have to do with her visit. My daughter mentioned her allergies and asthma and she gets injections to maintain it now. When we lived in San Jose, it wasn't an issue. She said well "you could always move back to San Jose. ..." Which I did not appreciate! To add further insult to injury, she asked me if my daughter was born in this country!!!! "Was she born in this country?, interesting...." Then concluded, "well aren't you special?" Then proceeded to suggest, not speciality shoes but rather a cortisone shot, and maybe heel lifts instead and maybe look into canceling the brace order (with another specialist) in progress. We agreed to the shot for the moment, she placed numbing cream and then walked out of the room while it was numbed and saw another patient. I was blown away by the earlier conversation, that we googled reviews on her and found awful feedback on her. My daughter changed her mind and I agreed with her. We walked out and informed the front desk, she had changed her mind, we are not getting what we initially came for and this appointment is over. I only paid the $35 dollar copay, the office visit, and application of the numbing cream, that was it.

Dr. Kalthoff is a kind and experienced doctor. She's gone above and beyond to help me get some relief from foot pain that had become a real problem. Thank you, Dr. Kalthoff!

Dr. Kalthoff is a Dr. That cares and isn’t afraid to show it as she works to make patients comfortable. She also has an office staff, unlike many, that work very effectively at dotting the “i”’s and crossing the “t”’s…thank you!

So lucky to have such a caring medical provider. I have seen Dr. Kalthoff for years. I have had cold laser therapy, orthotics and two surgical procedures. I also want to complement the front office staff, because no matter how good the doctor is, bad office staff can ruin the whole experience. I would recommend her to anyone 100%.

I had "Cold laser" therapy. Simply amazing. Friendly, yet extremely professional. In my opinion, there is NO other podiatrist in this area to see.

Dr. Kalthoff has been such a great help for me and my family. My father saw her after struggling with chronic pain in his legs and feet after a past injury. Dr. Kalthoff was caring, supportive, and knowledgeable. She was able to help him manage his pain and recommended a surgery that completely turned things around for him. He went from being in pain and limping after walking for more than 20 ft, to completely recovered mobility. After the success that my father had, my mother also went to see Dr. Kalthoff for some concerns with foot swelling and soreness and was able to get treatment and fitted for orthopedic shoe inserts that she uses all the time now. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! Run far away! I saw her a few years ago and she did a horrible job at giving me an injection in my foot. I saw her at her office around 11am, got the injection then by 2pm my foot was swollen, red and throbbing and I couldn't put weight down on my foot. When she did the injection she started with the numbing medication first, but I don't think she waited long enough because I still felt a sharp pain when she began the injection. She stopped paused and just held the needle in place for a few minutes before continuing. She didn't seem very focused as she kept going on and on about her biracial grandchild and asking me all these questions about my hair because I have curly hair like her grandchild. I told her it hurt, and she paused with the needle still in my foot. She waited a few minutes then resumed. When I went it the hospital a few hours later the ER doc had to get a hold of her to try to figure out what she did wrong because this was not a normal reaction. She hit a nerve and it left me in excruciating pain. Many times these injections are guides and she didnt perform it that way. I was on crutches for 2 weeks, had to miss time from work as I couldn't drive myself in or take the train. What made it worse is that when I called her office to follow up about what she did wrong and why this happened she never returned a call or voicemail. She had her nurse tell me nothing more she could do for my foot and gave me a referral to another doctor. She dodged my calls for a week ans I eventually gave up. I went to her because I was in pain, she caused more pain and did me harm and never ever got back to me or even apologized. She didn't own up to the fact the fact that she screwed up, or even directly return any of my calls. She is a horrible provider and I wouldn't send my enemy to be treated by her!!!!! She caused more pain not helped ease it. My insurance company sent me an accident letter based on what the ER doctor wrote up in my chart, they thought that since I suffered an injury at the hands of someone else, that party should have been billed. Only reason I didn't sue is because I was moving out of state and didn't have time for the back and forth of a lawsuit. I was under Dr. Kalthoff's care for over seven years and had numerous surgeries for achilles tendon replacement that got infected. She is very knowledgeable and keeps up-to-date on new procedures. She was open to new treatments; whatever it took to heal me. She is the most caring and conscientious doctor. Even made a house call when I was unable to go to her office. Her office staff are extremely friendly and capable; and will go above and beyond to assist patients.

Dr. Kalthoff is the best dr. Her staff is excellent. I had joint replacement big toe and the surgery/post op care and follow up was (currently is) excellent. I referred a friend to her for corrective surgery (same procedure different dr 10 years prior) and she loves Dr. Kalthoff, too. She is with the current times, kind & compassionate. The bedside manners ie old school! I can’t say enough about her team, too. Who still makes house calls? I’ve been going to her for almost 8 years/Best hands down

In June of 2016, Dr. Kalthoff performed a major surgery on my right foot; joint replacement of the right great to, removal of calcium deposits and bone spurs. While she was warm and pleasant, with each passing month following my surgery, I found her to be both ambiguous and oftentimes, random in her responses to my questions. Within that year, her interest in following up my progress, significantly waned in the latter months. In that same year I scheduled my last 4 follow up appointments.

Dr. Kalthoff is not only the best doctor ever - she is an angel. She is also surrounded by the angels that work together in the office. She is a "cutting edge" (hee hee) doctor that does not leave you with any surprises. She and her staff are the best in the field of medicine. You are cared for like family!
