This was my worst experience with any doctor. It was actually quite surprising to me. Right away she seemed extremely impatient and even seemed a bit angry, but I wasn't going to take it personally and I wanted to give her a chance. She asked me questions and seemed to get angry when I couldn't give a quick simple answer. She asked one question and in the middle of my response she interrupted me and said "I don't care" in a very frustrated tone. I was trying my best, but clearly what I was saying wasn't useful to her. But the interrupting, the tone of her voice, and the words "I don't care" felt really jarring coming from a doctor. And at this point I really felt that she actually did not care at all about me as a patient. I had a hard time communicating with her, and I did not feel understood. She didn't seem to want to listen. I think her attitude is very unprofessional. I waited months for this appointment and am shocked at how awful it ended up being.

This made it hard to communicate with her, and I did not feel understood. She didn't seem to want to listen. I think her attitude is very unprofessional. I waited months for this appointment and am shocked at how awful it ended up being. I feel so sorry for anyone else who has to deal with a doctor like this. I am baffled.

I’ve never encountered a worse doctor than Dr Karlin. She has no regard for the patient or their recovery. She rushes people, talks over her patients, and frustratingly answers the questions she’s asking the patient (eg. She asks “What are your side effects?” and as they’re answering she’ll cut in and say “you’re not having any” as patient is in the middle of discussing what’s going on.) She is condescending and ineffective. She simply throws medicine at the problem without looking for a solution and disregards the overall symptoms and condition. She appallingly puts completely inaccurate notes in the system after a visit (“post visit summary”). It’s as if she is making up her own case notes on the fly for someone not even in the room with her. This is very challenging when dealing with other doctors in the north shore system who then encounter her errors. If it were just awful bedside manner we could deal with her but combined with her ineptitude all I can say is BEWARE.

I'm not sure what all these other reviews are about and quite frankly I wouldn't read them. I read them all and I was super intimidated. Dr. Karlin is an exceptional neurologist. She responds so quickly and is very thorough in explaining whats going on and how to treat the issue at hand. She takes her time and doesn't rush through the appointment. She honestly cares for her patients, she doesn't just prescribe pills and then leave. She sits with you and makes sure you understand what your options are and is so supportive. She is really sweet and I would recommend her for anyone.

If I could give 0 stars I would. She does not listen to her patients. Her only suggestions involved more and more medication that were very expensive. When Trying to contact her or her nurse they take days or weeks to respond. Find a better doctor than her.

Dr. Karlin in unresponsive and incompetent in regards to patient care. This doctor was responsible for my 80 year old mother at NIMC and failed to follow up with the family on any test results and reasons for a possible TIA. Dr. Karlin did not have any logical reasons for my mother's Stroke symptoms or if it would happen again. It took 20 hours to get any information from her after I left a message at the hospital. Dr. Karlin stated that she needed to have the patient file to comment and it would be the next day before she could review it. In today's information climate, Dr. Karlin has instant access to the information from any computer and chose not to review or get back to me. Dr. Karlin was more interested in arguing with me on the phone than getting answers and taking responsibility for her lack of effort and professionalism. I feel worse now than when my mother was admitted. Thank you Dr. Karlin!!!

I went to see Dr. Karlin based upon the from my pcp. I suffer with debilitating migraines and have for over ten years. Dr. Karlin was able to address the root of the problem as well other troubling symptoms I was starting to show early on. She's clear, concise and cares a lot about her patients. You shouldn't look forward to a visit with your neurologist but I certainly do.

I went to her with possible stroke symptoms. She found what really happened and researched it and help me for the future
