Karen Kay King

I have been a patient of Dr. Karen King since the early 2000’s. Dr. Karen King is the best and has always been a caring, kind, informative, very personable, down to earth and genuine doctor. I am glad that I have been a patient of hers for all these years. She did sell her practice and only sees patients on certain days of the week and I have seen a lot of staff changes through out the years. Dr. King’s staff is always nice, pleasant, and caring. Upon my last visits, Dr. King was not available to see me, but I met with Sam and he was very patient, kind and informative. He is very focused on patient care and the overall well being of his patients, which I appreciate. He welcomed all my questions and concerns and took his time explaining everything very well. Edna is very nice, sweet and detail oriented – she is awesome, Edna has been there for quite some years now, so its always nice to see her when I visit the office. Pat is also caring, nice and detailed, I have met with her twice over the years. On my most recent visit, I met the new front office staff and a few other staff members I hadn’t met before. Liz and Ana at the front desk are really nice, they are very patient, really welcoming once you step thru the door and even when you are leaving, they have great/pleasant attitudes, they are caring, very accommodating, and they do a great job at handling the front office. Joann whom took my vitals and notes on my symptoms, was very nice and welcoming and was also really detail oriented. I also spoke with a billing specialist for Dr. King’s office who’s name is Riaz. He was very nice, detailed and accommodating. Riaz was able to provide me with a detailed receipt that I needed and was very patient and informative each time we spoke over the phone. Also the Phlebotomist is really nice, I don't know here name, but she is very gentle/caring and never has an issue with drawing my blood. Overall, I am glad that Dr. King has a great team/staff at her office and commend them all for a job well done. I recommend Dr. King and her team/staff to anyone looking for a Doctor/medical team.

Dr King, NP's Patricia and Sam are all excellent medical professionals. They are very thorough and attentive each and everytime. The office staff is very efficient and upbeat.

Awful rude staff and the Dr's put you off on nurse practitioners if they don't like how you present yourself. Trying to get through to talk to someone is impossible. I don't know why these people haven't been shut down.

I called today for a last minute appointment desperate to be seen for my allergies. Luckily they had a same day opening for me to be seen by Sam the Nurse Practitioner. I was disappointed my primary was unavailable but appreciative considering how bad I felt. I had the best experience today with Sam! Dr. King and Dr. Hornsby are doing a wonderful job and always bring in the BEST of the BEST to work on their team. Sam you did a wonderful job today. I enjoyed speaking with you. Thank you for your excellent service & an amazing experience overall.

Dr. King is great and her staff(ladies up front and medical assistants). The only issue is the nurse practitioner I believe. She is so against giving out diet pills, states that diet/exercise helps. Well duhh, but sometimes we need an extra push.

i’ve had issues with some folks that worked here….i always tell the dr and it gets straightened out. I have been seeing Dr. King for the better part of 6 years, and I have never been happier with a doctor in my life. Mind you, I suffer trauma from previous medical encounters, so that's saying a LOT. I don't trust most docs, but I adore her. She has been the most patient, caring, understanding, and helpful doctor. I wish I could take her with me if I ever move out of the area. Wonderful practitioner, terrible office. Dr. King is empathetic and communicates really well- she clearly cares about her patients. If you call the office, expect to hear a rushed "Doctorsofficepleasehold" after which nobody ever comes back on the line. I've been trying to renew an expired prescription for TWO WEEKS and cannot get through to a human being even after more than ten calls. Wonderful practitioner, terrible office. Went in for appt 9/13, waited an hour and a half to be seen. Advised i needed a mammogram. Never received a referral. Had to call today 9/30 to ask for one. Was told they still haven't worked on it and will call me back.

I have been a patient of Dr. Karen King since I was a child, my mom worked with her and knew her pretty well personally. I have up until this moment had a great doctor/patient relationship until recently when they got bought out by Ayman Care. I recently made an appointment to discuss my hypoglycemia, as I was having trouble with my blood sugar dropping low. I met with another provider , Dr. Mabel, even though my online portal states I met with Ajaz Khan, who mind you I have never seen nor know. Mabel seems extremely green and not fully educated to be holding such a high license of care for people’s health and well being. The entire visit took a turn into a mental health discussion to which she proceeded to fill me a prescription for antidepressants even after I expressed my concerns. Told me I should see a psychiatrist when I get health insurance, which I’m not apposed to as I believe therapy is a good thing for people to discuss day to day issues and another voice without biased opinions. She didn’t refer me to one until today, 10/4/21 and my original appointment was on 9/21/21. My previous visit I discussed my concerns with taking that type of medication as I have never been prescribed it nor do I feel the need to take it. I have been trying to contact them regarding filling my extremely low dosage anxiety medication, as I am now being told I’m not being compliant with seeing a psychiatrist or taking my medication so they no longer will prescribe my medication that I have been prescribed for some time now. I have also been calling for over a week, as I was told today their phones were down. I JUST got the referral today, After calling multiple times. I have surgery tomorrow so I didn’t feel comfortable beginning a new medication before I had a procedure. They’re completely disregarding anything I say and treating me as if I’m some mentally unstable nut case, which is BY FAR not the case. Dr. Hornsby also took the phone from Mabel and was extremely passive and rude. Told me they wouldn’t prescribe it because They’re new owner won’t allow them too, than slipped up and told me it was because I wasn’t being compliant as I stated above. The way they have handled this situation leaves me entirely speechless and in complete shock. It also doesn’t help that the past two visits I have been left in my room for 45 minutes to an hour to the point I have to step out and remind them I have been waiting. They will be losing a long term patient now and I wouldn’t refer ANYONE to this facility anymore. It has completely changed since being bought out and the level of care has severely declined. I have been attending this office for years. Today 8/5and was told the Insurance I have been using was no longer accepted in the office. When asked why wasn't I notified. I did not receive an answer. I was told by the front desk I would have to pay cash today if I wanted to see the doctor. The professionalism was not present. I will withdraw myself from this unprofessional office. When it comes to Dr. King's practice and her staff you need to be specific or you might end up feeling violated. So never ask "What appointment or procedure I am getting?" You need to ask "What type of EXAM?" Otherwise you are out of the loop and nervous for what they are gonna do, always ask them what is going to happen in the exam and what they will do. That way you don't have what happened to me, since it was constipation and I didn't say EXAM they didn't have to tell me. So I come in for constipation and they don't have to tell me it is an abdominal exam because I didn't say the magic word, so they were able to get away with not doing an actual abdominal exam and instead a hernia check which is close to your crotch. They just stethoscoped my belly button, said it is gurgling and then surprise hernia check, didn't check the intestine quadrants or nothing. So while I said I wouldn't say anything, after taking ten minutes to find out what an abdominal exam is this needed to be said so you don't feel violated and not welcome in your skin. SO remember to always ask for "What exam, and how it will be done." That way you won't be charged for something that you didn't ask or want. Oh and don't try to challenge it, they will be smartasses and then say "Well aren't you glad you don't have a hernia?"

Since the 1st time I went to this doctor's office I felt like they all care. Mrs. Pat is my Favorite. She treats me as if I'm her child, and I feel the love from the care that they have shown me through medical care over the years.

The level of professionalism at this office is non-existent. It is incredibly slow moving in this office and patients recieve little care. The doctor I see now that just started for this clinic is good but the staff are horrible. My calls never get answered, calls not returned when leaving a voicemail, wait between one to two hours to get seen by a doctor, and When doctor King was here I told her how I was having mental health issues and she started to tell me about Jesus. I LOVE Dr. King. She is awesome. I despise the process of trying to get an appointment and follow-up with her. I can never get through on the phone line. Goes directly to a voice message and you cannot leave a message. I had a follow-up with Dr. King and was scheduled by her staff to visit the Nurse Practitioner, despite the fact I wanted to see Dr. King. The night before my appointment, my insurance notified me by email that the Nurse Practitioner was not on my insurance plan, even though Dr. King is. So, I tried to call and cancel and reschedule with Dr. King. At this time, 15 minutes now before my appointment, I have called her office 68 times and cannot get through. This is just unacceptable. This is NOT the first time that this has happened. Dr. King used to have a portal that could be used to access records and get updates. She has partnered with someone else now and has some portal called Ayman Care. I asked her office why I can't get my records anymore and they advised that Dr. King isn't set up on the portal. So now, I cannot access my records at all. Again, I like Dr. King as a doctor but the processes to get through to her and to get the results of my visit and testing rate a ZERO. I love Karen King. She is caring. She spends time with you. She knows what she knows and knows when to refer out. She's brilliant. She supports diversity. I trust her and recommend her highly!

She is outstanding. She takes the time to listen to you, and doesn't rush you out of the office. She is very attentive, courteous, and a pleasure. I am so happy I found her. Highly recommend her.

Very individual attention with kind respect. Dr King is always abreast of developing treatments because of studying current papers by physicians worldwide. She knew about a cure for Hep-C before others, and got me on the regimen and cured. Brilliant physician with a smile and a twinkle in her eye.

Dr King is compassionate and attentive. She gives her undivided attention and listens. She treats a wide variety of illnesses and I would recommend her to anyone!

I should have listened to a similar review on another site that you can, and will, just get kicked out arbitrarily without notice. Imagine my horror this morning to an email from my pharmacy that my needed refills are denied because Dr told them I was no longer a patient. Ummmmmm, ok...so now what? I have t find a new provider accepting new patients that can get me in this week so I dont run out of meds? As a professional, I would have expected at least some sort of notice from the practice, and having had only 1 visit with the Dr. in my history, and explanation would have been nice.

I had a women’s wellness check up with her. I got tested and saw her in November 2019. The doctor’s office got my results back a week later, but Dr.Karen did not notify me of my results until Jan 2020. Then I had to find out through CVS calling me telling me I had a prescription filled. I was angry and I had to drive up to the doctor’s office to get answers. So then she puts me on a medicine that I later found out is not the proper med to treat me, and now I have to go to a different doctor and spend more money to get the proper meds. On top of that I am getting adverse side effects and been instructed to stop the meds. Please DO NOT go to this doctor’s office. Im not even sure how she is in practice. Warm and nice Dr. She will give you tips for reaching optimal health. Listens with passion. Only issue is that it seems like comunication with patients out of the scheduled appointment is not so important. Or not part of the patient satisfaction process.

One of the worst doctor's office experiences I've ever had. My appointment was for 10:30, I wasn't seen until 11:35. I had two babies with me and had to work hard to keep them calm while we waited (and waited, and waited, and waited). For some reason the waiting room tv was playing a program about adoption of abused dogs. Whoever I saw (I don't know her name because she didn't even introduce herself) came in the room without knocking and was literally in the room for less than 4 minutes. I don't think she made eye contact with me the entire time. More importantly, the medical experience was terrible. I came in because I was exposed to hep A at a restaurant and am breastfeeding an infant who isn't fully vaccinated yet, so even though I had no symptoms, I wanted to get checked out. The doctor/nurse/whoever-she-was didn't even ask for my symptoms. She didn't ask how long ago the exposure was. She said "the baby looks healthy" without asking if she had any symptoms at all. She didn't even ask if the baby had any vaccinations. She didn't offer the blood test to identify exposure, didn't offer a vaccine, didn't even tell me what symptoms to look out for in myself or the baby. This appointment was a complete waste of time and now I have to make another appointment at the pediatrician's office to be safe. One of the worst doctor's office experiences I've ever had. Dr. King deserves less than 1 star. Never in my life have I ever had so much trouble getting my prescriptions filled from anyone. I began seeing her Nov 2017 only because my previous PCP stopped taking my insurance. My first visit, she did not even give me a physical exam as a new patient nor offer me a Flu shot. She would not give me prescriptions for my 4 maintenance medications but rather said to call in as I needed them. My other PCP would always give me my prescriptions for the next 12 months. Not Dr. King! So I called when I needed the first one. Took more than a week to get it and I even had to pay a visit in person to the office to ask what the problem was! Then I get it with no more refills! REALLY? Then I finally learned she only calls in prescriptions on Fridays. So then I start messaging her through the portal for refills. Still took longer than a week. I call the office to ask why and find out she’s on vacation! If you’re not going to be in the office, then messages should have automatic replies that you’re “out of the office until...” “please contact so and so ...” No common sense! I never got more than 1 refill on a prescription. What a waste of time for both her and myself! Very inefficient Doctor. So I go in for a 6 mo follow up because one medication requires that. I’d already been contemplating finding a different Doctor but gave her another shot. This time I got to see her PA. She was much more helpful and said to message her for prescriptions because she’s the one who calls them all in anyway. So I message her the next time and get a reply from her to ask Dr. King for the refil! You’ve got to be kidding me! So I sternly reply because who can blame me for all this hassle! I was never vulgar or insulting. Just stated facts and sternly asked that my medication be refilled. So what does Dr. King do? She calls in only a 30 day supply rather than the usual 90 day. Then I discover my account has been disabled when I try to access the portal to message her. I’m left with no option but to call the office and ask that my refill be filled in it’s usual manner. Nope, Dr. King is dismissing me as her patient and will only give me a 30 day supply. That to me is just plain spiteful. This Dr. will waste your valuable time. She has the personality of a wet dish rag. When she was asking about my family history and the usual questions when you see a Doctor for the first time I was appalled at her method of writing information down. It was chicken scratching all over a piece of paper. Literally! No one including herself could come along and decipher anything she wrote down. That should have been my clue to find a different doctor because she is not qualified to be one! I went through so much effort to have records transferred to her 6mo in advance and she never looked at any of them. I asked her! She really caused me a lot of stress and then dismissed me! What if I hadn’t called about my 30 day refill until 30 days later? Well, she would’ve refused to help me and then I’d be without a PCP. How professional is that? Stay away from this Doctor. Dr King is wonderful, thorough, and the sweetest Dr you can have. Granted it can take a while to get in and out because of her awesome care, but the fact that she makes sure every I is dotted and t crossed makes up for the wait. My husband and I have been patients of hers since 1998, and would cry if she retired.

My husband has been going to Dr. King for well over 20 years. I have been her patient for about five year. She is a wonderful doctor who has always diagnosed my husband's illnesses correctly. We just love her and Patricia Hornsby dearly. I would give her a recommendation 100%. Knowing her back story I admire her. They both have such a caring heart to their patients. I have just started with Dr King and I really like her. I'm sorry about the problems some other reviewers have had. My first visit went very smoothly, I was able to ask all the questions I had and she answered them all. The staff was friendly and pleasant to deal with. I didn't feel ignored or rushed. My prescription was promptly called into my pharmacy. I had blood work taken while I was there, which I liked a lot more than having to take paperwork to a lab somewhere to have it done. Dr King and I discussed what referrals I would need for the specialists I needed to see. She took her time with me and I found her to be very professional, courteous and I appreciated her patience, as I had a lot of questions. I have no trouble recommending her and her staff. Every time I visit it’s a long wait and a horrible experience no communication and they don’t care

Dr king made me feel like a child. Belittling me She just me feel sooo uncomfortable. Had to find me another Dr.

Worst doctor's visit I've ever been to. I wasn't seen until over an hour after my appointment. I came in to accomplish 3 things: birth control, women's wellness, STD check. All of which I called ahead of time to make sure could be done at the appointment. I was not able to effectively receive any of the care I came in for. Staff refused to find out if services worked with my insurance. I had to call my insurance myself. A little strange, and then the staff still wouldn't listen to me and denied my coverage without checking --assuming I wasn't covered. Doctor did not have good bedside manner and sounded accusatory --clinging to any health issues that were mentioned instead of listening to the patient. Office staff was confusing and left patients alone and wandering for far too long with unclear instructions. Absolutely. Ridiculous. Worst doctor's visit I've ever been to. Dr King's office has always shown me compassion and respect . Yes sometimes it is hard to reach them via phone as with any offices these days but you will not find a more patient group of medical people . Im so taken back by the review here 3 months ago about a staff of blacks and hispanics how dare you feel that this is proper . I will ocntinue to use Dr King's office as long as she accepts my insurance and willing to change insurance companies if she stops. It is hard enough dealing with insurance companies these days and when you find a Dr's office that goes above and beyond to care about the patients such as this office then I consider it a blessing . Pat Hornsby is the best of the best . She cares about you as a person and what happens to you medically she goes above what is asked to ensure you are medically taken care of . I have been trying for 5 days to get someone on the phone to schedule an appointment. I get placed on hold before I can even speak a word, and I continue on hold until I can no longer afford to waste my time holding. Currently I am on call number 3 since 9:00am (its now 9:36) my call keeps ending after the 3rd time I am replaced on hold. Will be switching doctors. I'm glad I read through these comments. I went through a horrible experience at this doctor, couldn't get her on the phone about prescriptions, her staff was so rude, the last time I called, I was in tears, said I give up and I'd find another doctor and hung up. Her response? To call me on the phone, berate me, and tell me she agreed I should find another doctor--that I was too rude. When I told her what transpired with her staff, she didn't care. I told her the fact that she didn't bother to respond to a patient's calls and pleas for help, but would call me and 'fire me' as a patient said a lot about her. BTW, she was very kind the first time I met with her. Just don't 'need her services' and you see another side of her. This was a very disturbing experience for me. Dr. King is an amazing doctor.

Dr King has been my doctor for 6 years now. She has always provided me with sound medical care and taken the time to listen. I can't imagine choosing any other doctor in Dallas.

I have known Dr. King since she first started in practice. She is patient and will spend time with you unlike so many of the other doctors. I have always been satisfied with her level of care and that she will refer you if she feels it necessary.

I love Dr. King. She is so kind and listens so well. She's the best Dr. that I've ever been to in my life.

It is impossible to get any sort of response when calling the office. I'm switching doctors because I simply can't get in touch with anyone at Dr. King's office. I take medication and I've had multiple problems getting my prescriptions refilled on time due to the negligence of this office. It's a shame but I'll be looking for a new doctor.

I was on hold for 10 minutes! I called another doctor in my insurance network and got an appointment for same amount of time that I was holding for this office.
