DR KAREN HAS BEEN MY GYN FOR OVER 10 YEARS... SHE TOOK CARE OF MY DAUGHTER FOR BOTH HER PREGNANCIES... NEVER HAD A PROBLEM... EVER...

There was no greeting or introduction, dove into the notes provided by previous staff. Was very dismissive and scrolled through Apple Watch as I tried to ask questions. Told me her equipment was faulty so I shouldn’t expect much. Repeatedly asked the same questions after I had given her answers. I believe if she hadn’t been so enthralled in her personal calls maybe I could have gotten better care.

The only reason I’m giving her 1 star is because I can’t give her 0. It’s unfortunate that UH’s website is only sharing positive reviews of Dr. Ashby for their own benefit, when google reviews clearly show that she has had many negative experiences with patients. I scheduled with her years prior and found out in this appointment that I was unfortunately diagnosed with something that I will not share over a google review. However, her bed side manner was rude, condescending, and lacked any compassion/empathy. She also seemed annoyed that I had questions. As a fellow healthcare professional, do better. If you are this burnt out, leave. With that being said, I have had great luck with UH Nurse Practitioners & find that their bed side manner is far better than the doctors i’ve seen regardless of the practice. The doctor listened to and answered all of my questions. I was provided with educational pamphlets that were super helpful. Her nurses are fabulous and get back to me by phone or email answering my questions quickly.

0/10 would not recommend at all she’s borderline rude, she doesn’t seem like she listens, and definitely think she can tell you more about your body and how you feel than you can. appointments are super short, i’m 35 weeks pregnant and don’t know anything about my baby, his weight , if he’s breeched NOTHING!

She was my daughters doctor worst doctor ever my daughter kept telling her there was something wrong this lady wouldnt run test but kept saying your fine..my daughter knows her body and knows something wrong.The Dr moreless just blow it off my Grandson was born sleeping because of medical issues she could of tested for and set up a csection. And the said part is I belong to a couple groups and she was the doctor of 3 people and all has had sleeping babys with her being the doctor. Well come tomorrow morning I will be contacting the medical board I want reasons to why shes still practicing meds ect when this doctor is unprofessional and very bitter. Absolutely terrible I was experiencing extreme pelvic pain and all she did was shrug and say “it’s probably a cyst” did not give a pelvic exam, order blood work, or anything. Worst physical I’ve ever been too. Wish I knew how to report her.

I have never had any issues with Dr Ashby in the 10+ years I've been with her. Although she never believed my children she did perform a hysterectomy greathat with was successful. everyone I spoke with felt I should have done something but it was the hospital not her the rooms were dirty and I had to share a restroom with someone else because they were in the middle of construction. I just think the insurance need to give more time in the hospital. I went Septic they immediately called Dr Ashby she get immediately sent a ambulance to take me to the main campus. First, my appointment was scheduled over a month in advance, and I was looking forward to meeting a new provider in hopes of establishing a healthy relationship with a OBGYN. Dr Ashby was running over an hour behind on my appointment day, which is frustrating however would have been understandable if my appointment was met with better care. She didn't apologize for running behind and brought the shame hard. I told her this was my first OBGYN experience and long-overdue, but Dr. Ashby didn't meet me with any explanation or educational information during our visit that would have been nice to receive on my first ever. She asked me if I was on the pill, which I replied no to. Then she asked me to explain my opinion about the pill, and for health reasons I have chosen not to take it (including my mother having a blood clotting disorder and my sister having a life-threatening reaction to the pill). Dr. Ashby treats my daughter with compassion and respect. Of all her many Drs, she is her favorite.

I had heard that Dr. Karen Ashby was a knowledgeable Gynecologist but after getting in after two years to see her for a consult for a myomectomy, her bed side manner is the absolute worst. Because I wasn't immediately gravitating towards her recommendation of a hysterectomy, she said in a condensing manner, "I know oxygen isn't getting to your brain now and we will discuss it later." She said this to me while I was hospitalized and was prepping for a blood transfusion. It was unprofessional and rude. It wasn't just what she said, but also, the way she said it. I was in disbelief! Dr. Ashby was an excellent doctor. She took great care of me during my 2nd pregnancy after I had a bad experience with a midwife. She welcomed me halfway through my pregnancy and I felt she cared about my overall health and my baby. The day I delivered was a very busy day in labor and delivery. It was backed up over 3 hours. Dr. Ashby's shift was over and I was assigned a different doctor but she stayed after her shift just for me, to make me feel comfortable and deliver my baby. Incredible Dr!
