Justin Colin Somerville

Dr Justin Summerville just performed a colonoscopy and fissurectomy on a family member of mine. He gave us troubling news and then left for vacation without ever getting back to us with the many questions we were left with. After calling his office and leaving several messages with his secretary, we finally had a follow up appointment where he was very short, and frankly left us even more unanswered questions. No bed side manner. No clear direction as to what the problem was and how to prevent in the future. Needless to say we're getting a second opinion. Hopefully the next doctor is far more helpful and informative.

Dr. Somerville performed two recent surgeries on me in 2020, ane an appendectomy and also the removal of an area of my colon. Prior to both surgeries his consulation was excellent as he explained the need for both operations. He was thorough and descriptive and answered all my questions. In addition, he referred me to other doctors who were needed in their respective areas of expertise in an effort to help with my serious medical problems. I found him to be the consummate professional and an excellent surgeon. In speaking with several nurses he has an excellent reputation in his field for exhibiting precision in his work. I would highly recommended him.

Excellent surgeon. I had sigmoidectomy. Dr Somerville was very thorough, explained every detail, my surgery went as expected. He answered questions is extremely caring and kind. Highly recommend!!

A month or so ago, I was told that Dr. Somerville is no longer with St. Agnes. I tried calling all of his offices. I can't find him. He did my colon cancer surgery and I was following up with him. Has ANYONE HEARD ANYTHING ?

Dr. Somerville did my total colectomy with a j-pouch in 2009 due to stage 1 colon cancer secondary to FAP. My surgery and recovery went great. I will follow him wherever he goes. Excellent surgeon!

Dr. Somerville is a great doctor, patient and explains when I asked questions. He kept me informed, and also those who were waiting during my surgery.

I ended up in the ER with severe abdominal pain and a possible appendicitis. Dr. Somerville was assigned to me, and after some discussion, suggested that we treat with antibiotics (to which I responded well), avoiding emergency surgery. He scheduled some additional tests, answered my *many* questions, and removed my appendix as an outpatient. I appreciated his cautious and thorough manner. He was easy to talk to, and seemed to genuinely care about my well being.

Suspicious pain led me to the ER to be checked for possible appendicitis. It was exactly that. After being told that I needed surgery that night, Dr. Somerville was assigned my case. Not knowing the surgeon in advance made me anxious. Since I had many hours to kill before surgery, I opted to be a quick study of his background. The comments I read on this site were encouraging and so I’m leaving mine for future readers. Kind, competent and self-assured are how I’d categorize him. Success!

The office staff scheduled and then cancelled my colonoscopy procedure four times with the lamest of excuses. The doctor was relatively cold, and while that was okay, I was surprised that he didn't bother to check in and talk to me after the procedure was finished, I only received a note, and had to look up what the medical terms meant on my own.

Dr. Somerville removed a cancerous growth from my mother's colon. He was able to remove the growth totally even though it had grown and extended more than first thought. He showed great care for my Mom which means a great deal when the patient is 76 years old. His office did a great job scheduling the surgery and making sure we were prepared for it. His follow-up care also was excellent and greatly appreciated.

Dr. Sommerville has performed surgery on me 3 times and each time my experience has been above and beyond great care. He is very attentive to his patients concerns. I would highly recommend Dr. Sommerville.
