Reviews for Justin Park
If any dr, has referred you, TO Dr. Justin Park, of Glen Bernie, Severna Park, Mercy Medical Center, DONT GO TO HIM!! He is considered an Orthopedic Surgeon, well, cause he went to College!! He is NOT A GOOD DR, SURGEON, ETC., ..IV had nothing, but bad advice, from him, an unsuccessful back surgery, n can go on, with his egotistical, rude, n condescending, attitude towards me as his patient, along with many others.
I've been seeing Dr. Park for approximately 10 months regarding an issue in my neck. Dr. Park was very patient with me while I attempted less invasive treatment options, culminating in a double layer cervical fusion. Dr. Park was amazing every step of the way. He thoroughly explained information and options, showed empathy, and was readily available anytime I had questions or needed accommodations. He is a knowledgeable surgeon who continues to learn and grow to ensure he provides optimal care for his patients. I highly recommend.

Limped in his office looking a wreck after close to 2 months of constant sharp pain. Dr. JUSTIN Park (caps on first name as he has coworker with same last name) was able to diagnose my issue after 3 prior docs passing me on through system. I do give Ortho credit for pointing me to Dr. Park. First appointment he told me what the issue was, how he was going to fix it and set me up for surgery as quick as possible during COVID times. I can't thank Dr. Park and his surgery team for literally changing my life. Surgery went great. At follow up appointment he expressed his deep satisfaction with surgery and his ability to get me back to a normal life. Mind you this was not bragging but a very heartfelt reaction from Dr. Park. No PT needed. If you have an issue related to your spine do yourself a favor and see Dr. Justin Park. Good guy and great surgeon. Dr Justin Park is Amazing. I love his attentiveness and caring. I had him do my ACDF surgery. He fought the insurance to get it approved. I dont know who these others are that gave bad reviews but they must have seen a different Dr Park or are just nuts...
I have been misdiagnosed with back pain for years- so I decided to see a specialist. Dr. Park told me he had no idea why I was in his office. He dismissed my pain-and wouldn't even allow me to explain it - and insulted my intelligence on several occasions because I am "a bartender" (with a look on his face as if I am beneath him) I told him that someone suggested that I also see a rheumatologist and Dr. Park told me "if you could THINK LOGICALLY you would know its rheumatoid arthritis, or you would be in pain all of the time." Well Dr. Park- I have Ankylosing Spondylitis - diagnosed by a rheumatologist- who actually cares about their patients. Bottom line- this person looks at you as a pay out and not a person. It has been a few years so maybe he has grown up. Mercy has a great reputation so I felt like he was okay to see for a consult. He was rude, abrupt, arrogant and was not listening to me at all. I had consults with a few doctors and I had never been treated that way. Also he haphazardly assessed my C-spine. I immediately began to have not just tingling in my fingers but severe pain. I did not recover from his manipulation for several weeks. I have done physical rehab with trauma patients. So, I am somewhat knowledgeable. Sorry, but Mercy lost my recommendations. Dr Park didn’t care to listen to my concerns. Brushed me completely off and didn’t review my MRI or xray results. Told me to IGNORE my pain. The entire visit was rushed and he was extremely condescending. Normally I speak up for myself but I was so blown away with how he spoke with me and treated me that unfortunately I didn’t speak up for myself and I’m so upset that I didn’t. He is not what others have stated about him and I absolutely will not waste my time or money seeing him again. I left his office in tears.
Dr. Park should be avoided. I saw multiple surgeons to ensure I was getting the best data to make a decision and Dr. Park takes the cake as the worst of the bunch. He spent all of 5 minutes with me, disagreed with 5 other surgeons on just about everything, flat out said that the ones who recommended surgery were doing so for financial reasons and told me that some of my symptoms were in my head. I wanted to check the after visit notes in MyChart to ensure I understood everything he said but he has yet to enter anything after several weeks; again being an outlier to the 5 other surgeons I saw. As the cherry on top, he was completely condescending during my visit, even mimicking the sound of an MRI machine when he asked if I had one 15 years ago, thinking it would jog my memory. I wish I could get my money back because he was a complete waste of time and border-line dangerous in his consultation.
Amazing experience. My surgery changed my life. Finally feeling 100% again. Thanks Dr. Park
Amazing the surgery changed my life!
Had an appointment scheduled for Monday 3/29. Got a call Friday asking if there was a chance i could possibly resechedule with no explanation as to why, and i responded back that i couldn’t because i had already taken a half day off work for the original day of my appointment and it couldn’t be changed. They say “ok no problem, see you on Monday”. Monday morning i get a call saying they have to cancel my appointment bc the doctor has to leave early...... This was clearly not for an emergency reason, because thats obviously why i was asked to switch my appointment time on Friday. The next available appointment they could offer me IN HOPES that they wouldn’t cancel that one, would be April 12th, 2 weeks later. Then i was offered to talk to the doctor via telehealth, which makes no sense bc this was goin to be my first appointment where i would obviously need to be evaluated not just talked to about my back issues. Absolutely ridiculous and will not recommend Mercy Spine doctors to anyone Had an appointment scheduled for Monday 3/29. 7/13/20 Dear Dr. Justin Parks, I am truly thankful to God and you for the great surgical operation that you performed on my back. I am both grateful and surprised that the horrible lower back pain; that I experienced before you performed surgery, is truly gone after months of unrelenting suffering. Again, I am so grateful and I thank you for your professional, uplifting, cheerful attitude and attentiveness to my care. I am going to refer anyone who needs back surgery to you. Sincerely, Alice J. Over 6 months ago, I was diagnosed with a disc herniation. After jumping through hoops with treatments, and being denied medical help from a local surgeon because I was “too young” (I live on the eastern shore), I was referred to the Mercy spinal center. With in 3 weeks time, I was seen in the office with Dr. Park, scheduled for a discectomy with decompression, and completed my surgery. Dr. Justin Park is a god send, hands down. I’m in my early 30’s, a nurse, and have two small children. I went from being in pain, limited mobility, a depressing outlook on life, to almost fully regaining my life back! I’m on the road to recovery and all symptoms have almost subsided, if not already. My family and I will be forever grateful. I would highly recommend him and this facility to anyone. Dr Park is a very professional Doctor and an excellent surgeon!! He performed a discectomy on my lower back and I was almost 100% after two weeks of recovery. Considering the situation, everything from start to finish with Dr Park and Mercy in general was very pleasant. I highly recommend Dr Park!
I first saw Dr Park in 2016 after herniating my L3 and L5. At the time he told me my surgical options but never pushed. I was struggling to walk but it was manageable. He suggested I do therapy and see how it goes and come back if it didn’t improve. I recovered with the PT only and things were good. Until this past winter when the sciatic symptoms returned. I tried PT but it wasn’t working, only getting worse. The L5 was still herniated. I went back to see Dr Park because I felt like I could trust his opinion. Again, he shared the surgical options but did not push. The surgery seemed so simple but I was still hesitate. The next day I woke up with the worse pain of my life and I immediately knew it was time. I called Dr parks office and they had me scheduled for surgery in a week. I was in and out the same day and had immediate relief. Dr. Park is a great surgeon and made me feel comfortable and confident through the process. His PA’s and folks at the offices were great as well. Quick to respond to my calls/messages and very helpful. I would recommend Dr Park to anyone. Dr. Park performed a complex spinal surgery on my wife in January 2021. She was facing the possibility of comprised ability to walk without the surgery. Another surgeon had told her that her spine was too damaged to be repaired. Dr. Park confidently undertook the surgery and it has been a complete success. Dr. park has a smiling disposition, but he will ignore your health concerns if he doesn’t want to operate on you. Dr. park during my visit informed me of the first time of a degenerative disc condition. He offered no solutions and simply said “well I wouldn’t operate on you” before telling me I just needed to lose weight. I had never been presented with this diagnosis and I have no clue what the prognosis is. Can I go skiing next week? I hope so because Dr. Park gave me zero information about my condition. My back pain is so severe I had contemplated suicide and to this doctor, so long as nothing seemed wrong on the scan, I wasn’t even worth a physical examination. What if my lower back pain was from kidney failure? I would have died a week later. Dr. Park has all the aesthetics of a great surgeon and none of the proper patient concern of a physician. Avoid if you have the choice.
If I could give Dr. Park ten stars I would. I would never consider seeing anyone else. He is incredibly attentive and ensures that his patients receive top-notch care.
I saw Dr, Park on May22 in a lot of pain from sciatica. I had an MRI before I saw him and the report was inaccurate. He noted right away that I had a severly pinched nerve. Prior to the surgery I couldnt sit, stand or walk for any extended period of time. Couldn't have asked for a better outcome. I started having issues with my neck and shoulder about a year before I had surgery. I did PT which helped for a while, but one day the pain and tingling in my left arm intensive so much I could hardly stand it. My doctor had me get and MRI which revealed a bulging disc in C5/C6 area. He recommend Dr. Justin Park for consultation and possible surgery. When I saw Dr. Park he was so thorough with what he saw as the problem. He told me that I was a candidate for disc replacement and that it would take the pain away. However, he never pressured me to have surgery. Told me it was not life threatening, just depended on how much pain I could deal with. I said I would think about it. After a while when the pain never seemed to go away, I decided to have surgery and notified Dr. Park's office. They set me up for surgery and sent instructions. Dr. Park personally called to see if I had any questions, which I appreciated. He was very caring and wanted me to know what to expect. Surgery went just as outlined. Dr. Park performed a discectomy at my L5/S1 this past May. I had been suffering with pain and increasing immobility since mid-February before I finally consulted with him. I had tried several months of PT, rest and ibuprofen but nothing was helping. He saw my images and told me quite confidently "we can fix this!" I was so incredulous but happy to hear this because I had started to feel that everything pleasant in my life had ended. I was barely able to stand erect anymore, and sitting, standing, walking - everything hurt. Three months later and I have to almost be reminded that I had the surgery at all! Dr Justin Park's surgical expertise literally saved me from living the rest of my life in a wheel chair, without the full use of my arms and hands. He is a sincerely caring physician who is blessed with both expert hands, and a naturally healing nature. He successfully preformed two extensive spinal fusions to relieve the damaging pressure my degenerated, arthritic vertebrae were placing on my spinal cord, and over 75% of the spinal nerves controlling my arms, hands, and legs. At 70 years-old, my recovery from these two spinal fusions has been challenging, but manageable. I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude for not only Dr. Park, and his wonderful staff, but also for the whole Mercy Medical center. Thank you, Sisters of Mercy! I offer this opinion not only as a satisfied patient, but as an experienced health care professional who worked fifteen years in every type of ICU Unit as a Registerd Respiratory Therapist in northern California.

I am so very please with the spinal fusion surgery performed by Doctor Justin Parks (September 2018). I had Sciatica and received only minor and sometimes no benefit from pain killers and injections . I just could not take the pain anymore. Doctor Parks was recommended to me and his confidence during our meetings that he could relief my Sciatica pain with spinal fusion surgery along with my family and I weighing the overall weight for reviews of his surgery made him my hope for surgical relief to Sciatica. And, I am so glad I did. I do not have pain from Sciatica and wean off of potent pain killers within 3 weeks. It has been 1 month since I left the hospital and I am walking about 5 blocks again without pain for exercise along with leaving the house for short shopping trips. I started intermittently walking without the medical equipment walker starting as soon as I came home climbing the stairs to my second floor bedroom and coming back down to the 1st floor for breakfast. What a HUGE waste of time! My appointment lasted 5-10 minutes and consisted of him going over my MRI disc from last year that was already discussed with me last year by the radiologist. My point for wanting this appointment was to see if an new MRI could be done to see if there have been any significant changes (since I've been having consistent stiffness, numbness and tingling). Last year my findings were: Reversed curvature in cervical spine reflects degenerative changes and/or muscle spasm. C2-C3- mild facet hypertrophy C3-C4- mild facet hypertrophy & anterolisthesis C4-C5- mild disc spacing, mild facet hypertrophy, bulging disc, indents to spinal cord C5-C6- mild facet hypertrophy, mild anterior osteophyte formation, mild disc space narrowing, disc osteophyte complex with disc bulging and bilateral uncovertebral hypertrophy, mild asymmetric to the right, Indents to spinal cord causing minimal right neural formainal stenosis C6-C7- mild facet hypertrophy, central disc herniated L5-S1- Small central disc herniated * multi disc dedication and anterior osteophyte formation It just baffles me that he looks at a year old MRI and tells me in one image u can see 2 bulging disc, but in another it looks fine. So instead of him requesting new imaging and proceed after that, I basically wasted my time on getting 0 information that I was looking for. I didn't request this appointment to go over old results, but apparently that's what i paid for. Not to mention its odd that he didnt see more than half of the other issues that were noted above. What he did reccomend, was that I see another Dr that works hand/hand with him and maybe she can help (basically medicate). I feel like more than half doctors theses days are just looking to medicate patients instead of finding the source of the problem. What a HUGE waste of time! My Name is Ken Chisholm Sr. I'm 64 tears old. Had three spine surgeries from another surgeon all within a six month period in 2015. Plus several injections, even a pain stimulator was implanted in my lower back. nothing relived the pain. I was on six different pain meds just to get comfortable enough to go to work. Was referred to Dr. Park by a friend, made the appointment to see Dr. Park, on the first visit he said "I can see why you are in pain, you have a lot of problems however I can fix them." (I was shocked the last Dr. said nothing more can be done. We can gives you pain meds to make you as comfortable as we can. ) After hearing what Dr. Park said I said "can you get me pain free and of all pain meds?" without hesitation he replied "yes". I had surgery March 23, 2017, it's been three months no pain totally off all pain meds. AWESOME RESULTS FROM AWESOME DOCTOR. My Name is Ken Chisholm Sr. I'm 64 tears old. I met with Dr Park for severe nerve pain, numbness and inability to function and he promised me he would fix me and he did just that. Dr. Park performed emergency C6-C7 disc replacement on June 2nd. All nerve pain completely gone from the time I came out of surgery. I am post op 3 weeks and have had no problems, other then the normal post op recovery. I made an appointment with Dr. Park after consulting another neurosurgeon who urged me to try an epidermal injection for my sciatic pain, even though, as the first doctor said, the injection would mostly likely be 50-60% effective and only provide temporary relief. Since I was experiencing so much pain I could barely sit for more than ten minutes, I choose to consult Dr. Park rather than wait six weeks to see doctor number one for a second visit as that doctor recommended. From the moment I entered Dr. Park’s office, I was favorably impressed. The service was welcoming and efficient, from the receptionist to the x-ray technician. Dr. Park’s evaluation of my MRI assured me of his professionalism and competency. I was relieved when he recommended surgery, and I was impressed by his compassionate care, as I obviously was in pain and needed help. I had been suffering with sciatica for three months, and I had tried physical therapy, but the pain was not going away. I had herniated a disk six years ago, but I was able to recover without surgery. Previously, I had not experienced sciatic pain, but this time after herniating a disk at L5-S1, the pain was constant and debilitating. Dr. Park thoroughly and clearly answered our questions about the surgery, both before and subsequently afterwards during my post operation appointment. My surgery, which occurred 10 days after my original visit to Dr. Park, was very successful, and I am pain free as a result of it. I greatly appreciated Dr. Park’s handling of my case! He was wonderful. Thank you, Dr. Park, for helping me move on with my life! I visited Dr. Park because I was seeking expert care to alleviate a painful case of sciatica resulting from a pinched nerve. I was impressed by his clear explanation of my condition, and I felt complete confidence in his recommendation for surgery. The surgery was very successful, immediately alleviating my pain. I highly recommend Dr. Park not only for his knowledge and skill, but also for his kindness.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT SEE DR. JUSTIN PARK. I have never posted a review for anything but I have to warn other people before they become a victim of Dr. Park. After having an MRI I went back to him for the results. He told me there was nothing wrong with my back/spine. I guess he didn't take the time to read the radiologist's report which states "L3-4: Mild left forminal narrowing due to lateral disc bulge. L4-5: slight broad disc bulge with no significant canal or foraminal narrowing. L5-S1: Mild broad disk bulge and minimal facet anthropathy. Slight narrowing of the lateral recesses and foramen. I have been in pain for over 2+ years and now I know why, because I requested a copy of the radiologist's report. I will be contacting someone to see what can be done about this. Dr. Park was very personable, knowledgeable and vested in my care. I am extremely pleased with the care that I received and my results!!! Thank you so much for everything!!!
Dr Park is an excellent Dr/surgeon. I went to see him for a second opinion. He advised me that I needed a fusion done. I had been going through years of spinal injections, and PT which never helped me. He did a lumbar spinal fusion on me and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend him.
My name is Kathleen Rogers and I had been suffering with pain from on my right side for years. I did not want to even hear someone speak to me about anything that had to do with operating on my back. That was not EVER going to happen. I had seen friends have back surgery and end up not walking or in worse pain than when they went in. SO , for me it was not even a thought. After trying every other thing under the sun and having no relief, I began thinking that I was just going to have to live with the pain. But the pain had gotten so unbearable , it was stealing my life day by day and year by year. I was not doing what I used to do or I was and then I would go home and actually cry from the pain that I was feeling. I finally decided that enough was enough. I was given the number to Mercy and that is where I met Dr Park. He explained what was happening to me and how he could take care of it. I listened and asked questions. I think what did it for me was, I did not want to suffer anymore but he made me feel so comfortable , I knew that it was time. I said let's do it. He gave me all kinds of scenarios that could happen but I had already determined that this man was going to take care of me. And he did. He in my opinion is a God-send. I had my surgery on December 1, 2016. I feel like a whole new person. I wish I had done this years ago. Best move I have ever made. Dr Park and his staff at Mercy were phenomenal and I give the entire place 5 stars. They are caring and empathetic , they are friendly and knowledgeable. I tell every one that I meet, if they have any back issue, go to Mercy. You won't be sorry. I want to say , thank you to Dr. Justin Park and your staff for making me a new woman. God bless you all. Dr. Parks has made my life so much better. I had neck surgery Nov 2016 and it was a success. He made me feel at ease and explained everything to me step by step. He is the best!! Thank you Dr. Parks for everything.
I came to Dr. Park after being seen by another neurosurgeon that said there was nothing wrong with my spine that required surgery. However, I was unable to stand and walk. Dr. Park reviewed the same MRI's and found that I had a disc pinching against my spinal cord in my neck. He performed a fusion and the next day I was able to walk with a walker down the hospital hall. Dr. Park in my opinion is highly recommended and will not steer you wrong. After exhausting numerous options including periodic cortisone shots and physical therapy, whose relief proved to be temporary, I was ready to find a more permanent solution for my lower back pain. My search led me to Dr. Park who promptly diagnosed me with spondyloslisthesis, as well as spinal stenosis, and told me about a surgical option he thought would help. I agreed to the surgery and felt relief almost immediately. Once the general achiness of my surgical recovery abated, I no longer felt the pain I used to experience in my right leg which was often accompanied by numbness in my left leg. In the weeks that followed, I slowly began to heal and get back to my regular routine with some restrictions initially. Dr. Park was the utmost professional and made me feel at ease each time we met, as he prepared me for surgery and later tracked my recovery progress. He is genuine and caring, and I had total confidence in his capable hands. Overall it was a wonderful experience and my only regret is that I did not do this sooner! Dr. Justin Park did my L5-S1 fusion. It was my 3rd back surgery, first fusion. I waited 2 yrs to have it done, and he was my third opinion. I'm so glad I found him. He explained everything in great detail and answered all my questions. I did have to have surgery again 10 weeks after my fusion to reposition a screw pressing a nerve, but that did not hinder my recovery. 17 weeks after my fusion surgery (9 weeks after the screw reposition) I was back to hula dancing, gym, and PT. I was also back to riding my sportbike. 6 months post-op, I went on vacation in Mexico and ziplined in the jungle, even going upside down on one of the ziplines. I still have residual nerve pain from the screw but it is getting better. I take a very low dose of nerve pain medication but it doesn't slow me down. So grateful I had the surgery and grateful Dr. Park was my surgeon. *Update: I am currently 9 months post-fusion surgery and 7 months screw reposition surgery. I have been off the nerve pain medication for about 2 months now. My nerve pain is almost completely gone. I have been able to sit at my desk and work without any pain. After two years of chronic back pain (arthritis/degenerative discs) and many injections and nerve blocks, my sister suggested the MD Spine Center for a final consult. I have had sciatica and spinal stenoisis for many years. It just kept getting worse until finally I was really having trouble walking. The traditional cures did not work, shots, therapy and acupuncture only took the edge off the pain. I went to see Dr. Park, he ordered and MRI and then we sat down and discussed my options. I was concerned about surgery and decided to wait. Shortly after the holidays the pain got much worse and I returned to see Dr. Park. He was very understanding, we looked over the MRI once more and together we decided surgery to correct the problem was the course to take. The decision was mutual, Dr. Park helped me by answering any questions but then it was up to me to say yes or no. Two weeks later, on February 17th, Dr. Park did the surgery. I am five, almost six weeks out and so much better. I will return to Dr. Park twice more for post-op. Where do I begin? I came to Dr. Justin Park back in October 2016, after being seen by another orthopedic doctor. I had herniated discs and a couple of cortisone shots, and physical therapy, which didn't help. This particular doctor advised against surgery, but my problem was not getting any better. To make a long story short, I decided that it was time to find a new doctor. I had always heard good things about Mercy Hospital, so I decided to go online and find an orthopedic doctor. I read success stories from different patients that Dr. Park had treated, who shared my same excruciating pain, so I made an appointment to see Dr. Park. From the onset, he was very friendly and personable. On December 29, 2016 I had a lumbar fusion and I am happy to say that I am doing GREAT!! Still have a ways to go, but I am not in pain like I was before! Thank You Dr. Park! I would definitely recommend him! Where do I begin? My name is Michael Hamilton. I am 66 years old and have been in good health my entire life with the exception of my Degenerative Disc Disease. I have been in severe pain most of my adult life. All of the doctors I had seen at the VA Hospital told me that my condition was inoperable so they put me on Morphine for the last 10 years. Then I began to lose function in my left leg and couldn't walk and ended up in a wheelchair. Then my wife began the search for a doctor outside of the VA System to evaluate what was really happening. I saw one doctor who said he could fix me but never really said what he was going to do so my wife got on line and began searching. She found Dr. Justin Park on the Mercy website and read some of the reviews. We both got a really good feeling after reading many of the reviews so she called for an appointment fully expecting it to be months away. It must have been our lucky day as he had a cancellation that afternoon so we took the appointment to see him later that day and are so happy it worked out that way. We were so impressed by his ability to comfort both of us as this would be a daunting surgery for me but was confident he would bring huge relief to me and greatly improve my quality of life. Dr. Park is a great surgeon and is warm and compassionate and is now my hero! He was very knowledgeable about the procedure, has a lot of experience and took as much time as we needed to ask questions prior to scheduling the surgery. We left his office feeling so relieved and looking forward to feeling better as it had been so long since I could go out to eat, go on a vacation or simply sit in the car without having to lay down the whole way. He changed my life and for that I am forever grateful. One week after surgery I was walking around my house w/out a walker, using my cane very little. Two weeks after surgery I was feeling awesome! My entire outlook is now positive and I have NO PAIN. I am now 2 months out and am feeling better and better every day. I no longer have to "rest my back" most of the day and am doing things I have not done in years. Again, thank you so much Dr. Park! I would highly recommend Dr. Park for any spine related surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Park. I visited with Dr. Park due to spinal stenoisis and sciatica. I had difficulty walking and was in a lot of pain. Dr. Park advised me to consider surgery to correct the problem. I had surgery on February 17, 2017. I am about 5 weeks out and I am able to walk for a longer distance and for a longer period of time. My pain level is down to about a 1 and I no longer take pain medication on a regular basis. I am very pleased with the care I received.

If you want a failed back surgery by a doctor that actually complains about being sued during your visit, Justin Park is the one. He did a surgery on me that failed and when the herniated disk that he left in me fully ruptured and preventing me from even pushing waste out of my body, he said it was a kidney stone and distanced himself as far as he could from me. And now just 2 years since my surgery with him failed I'm getting a 3 level lumbar fusion which I should of had two years ago. If you are being treated by Park right now, be afraid, be very afraid. I'm not one to write reviews but felt this time it was warranted. I was looking for a specialist to treat my father and was referred to Dr. Park from a friend. First, I'm pretty picky about credentials when it comes to doctors and Dr Park's background is impressive. I immediately made an appt at his Glen Burnie office where I found his staff to be very friendly and accommodating as I was scheduling the appt for my dad. I was concerned about him going to the appointment without me since my dad does not speak English well, but when I spoke to my dad afterwards, he told me how incredibly friendly and patient Dr Park was. He also kept commenting on how impressive Dr Park's Korean language skills are and that he patiently talked my dad thru everything so he understood exactly what was happening and the best treatment plan for him.
