Julie Ann Steinhauer

In November 2021, I learned about Dr. Julie Steinhauer (aka Vision For Life) located in Illinois. Dr. Steinhauer's YouTube Channel and her website provide clear instructions as to how to contact Dr. Steinhauer for a consultation regardless of where you reside; US or out of the country. The doctor claims she can help patients directly or guide the patient's doctor if they do not reside in Illinois or in the US. Given some of the topics the doctor spoke about in her YouTube Channel and on her website, along with the doctor claiming her many years of experience with vision problems and therapy, I contacted Dr. Steinhauer to schedule a consultation. I followed the instructions on the doctor's website. I was informed by her Patient Care Coordinator, Miranda Stewart, to complete the patient questionnaire directly on the doctor's website. Once the doctor reviewed my questionnaire, "the doctor" would contact me directly to "schedule a consultation" over the phone. I offered to pay for the consultation. My first contact with this office was in November 2021. Since November until Dec 8, 2021, I have received four emails from this doctor's office. I took issue with Dr. Steinhauer's business practices for several reasons: 1) none of the emails that came from her office (and from the doctor herself) were addressed to me, 2) the doctor clearly did not have a good and clear understanding of my medical situation based on how the doctor wrote her emails, the questions the doctor was asking me, despite me outlining in detail my situation in the patient questionnaire and why I was reaching out to her, 3) the doctor was asking me "to explain my medical conditions" (again) and in an "email", 4) the doctor "asked me" if I would be interested in light therapy, but the doctor had not spoken to me yet, she did not have a clear understanding as to the vision problems I was experiencing, and she had not reviewed my medical records, in particular, the light therapy I had undergone in the past which was in the questionnaire. To conclude, on Dec 8, I replied to Dr. Steinhauer's email informing her I did not wish to disclose my medical situation on an email and I would not know if light therapy would be appropriate for me at this time, unless I had a consultation with her and discuss my medical situation. Dr. Steinhauer never replied to my email of Dec 8, yet this office suggests therapy without having a consultation and the proper review of a person's medical records.
