Dr. Joyce Ann O'Shaughnessy

Dr. O'Shaughnessy is one of the most compassionate doctors I have encountered. She is intelligent and up to date on breast cancer. She tailors your treatment to your particular situation and health. She listens to you as a patient and addresses your concerns.

I have been seeing Dr. O'Shaughnessy since July 2022 for IDC breast cancer. She and her staff are top notch. They are all very knowledgeable, take the time while in the office to answer all my questions and are very responsive when calling, always getting back to me very timely and with solutions. And most importantly, the treatment plan prescribed has worked! My cancer is undetectable now. Very impressed with Dr. O and her entire staff.

I arrived at Dr O'Shaughnessy door after being diagnosed stag 3 breast cancer, a radical mastectomy was performed, feeling, all you ladies will know the words,she was very busy, l had to wait, she came with very high recommendations, it did not matter how long it took! l must add this was 20 years ago. I walked in her consulting room she was concerned l had to wait, took my hand and said let's talk about our next step, continued in her jolly voice to take control, her knowledge and understanding has stayed with me for all these years, l'm still here! watched our son graduated, get married, became a grandmother. Don't doubt this wonderful Dr. You hit the jack pot. Thank you Dr O'Shannessy with all my ❤️

She is down to earth. She is so caring to her patients.

She is very warm and caring. She makes me feel very comfortable, like she is honestly very interested in my health. I know he is very busy, therefore I dont always get to see her at my appointments, but I understand, that she is very busy and has lots of patients. Im very pleased with her and the care that she has given me. I have I have a sister and an aunt that all have the same MBC as I do and she takes cafe of all of us. Excellent doctor!!!!!

Dr O has kept me alive longer than anyone thought possible, and I have recommended her to others. That said, it’s tough to get an appointment, the phone tree is exasperating, the waiting rooms and clinic rooms are awful, you’ll often encounter long wait times. Sometimes you’ll get sunshine blown up your skirt, and your personal preferences may be pushed aside, but if survival is your highest priority, Dr O is the one to go to.

I’m in her office every 6 weeks for blood work and check up. The office runs smoothly. All employees are kind and mostly efficient. Dr O is an excellent clinician and researcher.

She then lets you decide how to proceed based on what you have learned. I am so pleased to have her as my oncologist. Her goal throughout treatment has been to make me well with the least possible side effects. She is great!

Dr. Oshaughnessy is great, she explais everything clearly, and is always positive. Yes I would recommend her to family and freinds.

Avoid avoid avoid!! Save yourself from years of frustration that only end in death. Horrible and rude staff for the most part (keep in mind these people are talking to cancer patients - wouldn't hurt to be nice). She's always out of town or not available to talk unless it's life or death. Happened with my mom. She received horrible care and could never get in touch with her until she was on her death bed. She doesn't care about her patients until it's too late to do anything. She also doesn't give you a heads up when you or your loved one is nearing death. We thought my mom had years to live, but when we began considering palliative care the nurse that came to visit (not affiliated with Joyce at all) told us my mom didn't have much longer to live. Why was this the first time we heard of this? We had to immediately get hospice and one week later she died. Not once did Joyce tell us that death was near. She either is a horrible doctor and should be tried for malpractice, or doesn't care enough about the patient and their family to be upfront. Either way, go somewhere else. Avoid avoid avoid!! I was so happy when Dr. O'Shaughnessy agreed to take me as a patient. Than all changed after my initial appointment. The communication from her staff and the infusion center is horrific. Also follow up on tests are not done. 8 1/2 months later I was told of lesions on my chest x ray. The NP response, because you never see the actual doctor, was sorry it was overlooked. I was so happy when Dr. O'Shaughnessy agreed to take me as a patient. Than all changed after my initial appointment. The communication from her staff and the infusion center is horrific. I have been a cancer patient of Dr. O'Shaughnessy's since 2011, and she has helped me through 2 breast cancer occurrences. She has always been available when needed, extremely versed in her profession, and kind, courteous, and caring. When I was diagnosed with TNBC, stage 4, almost 5 years ago I was advised to visit Dr Joyce O'Shaughnessy who is the best for such treatment. I am very fortunate that I soon became her patient. Dr O'Shaughnessy is an extraordinary top Doctor and I am immensely grateful to her.

Dr. O has been my doctor since January 2011. She is a phenomenal oncologist. Very patient and professional. When I wanted to change a treatment due to the side effects, she listened to me and provided me with other effective treatments with less side effects . I hope she never retires.

She was very good at talking us through the rare form of breast I have and looked for trials to address metastasis as soon as it popped up in my lung.

I am truly amazed how Dr. O'Shaughnessy took time even though she is so busy to talk to me about my breast cancer the first time I was so scared but by the time I left there I was at peace and knew I am going to make it and five years later thanks to God and Doctor O I am doing well. there is no better doctor than her for me she is so knowledgeable and keeps up with new treatments all the time. Dr. Joyce O'shaughnessy is my current oncologist. She was also my oncologist 14 years ago, during my first encounter with Breast Cancer. I am confident she is an expert, and she cares about me as a patient. This time around, she set me up as her last appointment of the day, so that she could spend as much time as I needed to get my questions and concerns addressed.

Dr. O'Shaughnessy has been my oncologist for 9 years. I like her. That's why I stuck with her for 9 years. She seems very knowledgeable and caring, but I didn't always feel like I was receiving individualized care. It seemed like she didn't always believe me when I would tell her things that were going on with my body...until the bloodwork finally proved what I was telling her. It seemed like I was receiving the exact same recommendations as everyone else even though my body responds very differently to medications than most people. Now my cancer is back...this time on my bones. I found out about it a week ago. They said I needed to go for a pet scan to see if the cancer is anywhere else. But, they haven't ever ordered the pet scan and don't return calls when I call to ask about that and other things that I'm needing now. (For example: a prescription for a rolling walker to help me get around.) I have now switched to a different oncologist. My scans were ordered within 24 hours, I have a prescription for a walker, and I'm getting all of the help I need. I'm receiving much more responsive care. Dr O’shaughnessy is a wonderful woman very caring very much cares for her patients . She treat you as an individual patient and is always on top of your individualized treatments. She do you research a couple days a week making her at the forefront. I was diagnosed at 29 and have been being treated 9 years.

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and was referred to Dr. O'Shaughnessy. That was wonderful advice. Dr. O'Shaunessy was very kind and sincerely cared about me. She didn't rush me at all so we had plenty of time for questions and detailed explanations. Her staff also made starting the breast cancer treatment process much less scary.

When I think about Dr O’Shaughnessy my heart smiles. Thank God that I was referred to her. She is a breath of fresh air. So authentic and just amazing. So detailed and so hands on. She explains like no other. She’s so present and so attentive and just caring. I am always so excited going to see her. She loves to hug and make you feel like you matter and you are a friend. She may be the best but your life is in the hands of most irresponsible nurse. Elena should not be working as a nurse. Very sad. They do not care for you at all.

Dr. O'Saughnessy is amazing. BUT trying to call the office is close to impossible. You never get a call back. But if you can get an appointment to see her you will think it was worth the wait. Again there are 12 locks, 15 gates, 15 gatekeepers and if you are one of the lucky ones you will get a call back. very disappointing.

Dr. O'Shaugnessy is the BEST Doctor I've ever known. She is brilliant, kind, compassionate, loving and at the cutting edge of cancer research. My short lived experience with Dr. O'Shaughnessy was not very good. I waited 1hr to finally see her for our 1st and only visit. When she finally got to me, within 5-10 minutes our meeting she was interrupted by the PA and left us waiting yet again for another 10-15 minutes while she talked in the hallway. When talking with her she told us if we call and she is at a conference that her PA is very capable and she has worked with her for 17 years. Picking a Dr to see the Dr not the PA.Not impressed

I began with Dr. O'Shaughnessy 8 years ago, breast cancer, and after a few years had to change oncologist due to insurance. I just retired and my new insurance has put me back under her wing. I'm so grateful for her knowledge, care, staff and overall expertise in helping me to live cancer free! I would recommend her highly!

Dr. Oshaughnessy is the only reason my mother is here. We moved my parents in with us 6 months after her diagnosis and treatment. She was in serious trouble. No one thought she would live another 3 months. She was bed bound, couldn't hold anything down. Thanks to Dr. Oshaughnessy she is still here 6 years later. I can't say thank her enough.
