Dr. Joseph Michael Smay

The business is now named MYEYEDR. I ordered two pair of glasses on March 6, 2021 and was told it would be a 10 to 14 day wait. By March 20th I hadn't heard anything so I called. The clerk told me that the glasses came in 4 days ago. They now, instead of making a personal call, use a robot to call the patient and there is no human follow up. Very poor service!

Horrible place...rude staff...and the eye doctor is as dumb as a box of rocks, also very immature as a professional if that's what you call him

Needed cataract surgery, but had Afib & other health issues that had too be treated first asked please get me a new pair of glasses till able to get the surgery ,was told no ask for my scrap. ask Dr. Smay to calls Would no return calls the staff was rude.so I called eye care center in Tarentum they help me and with respect ..

Terrible with children

Heard about this practice and had to review for the public's safety and the safety of children.

Dr smay is very rude. Yelled at my child for flinching.

After the office staff made a mistake and he refused to see me for my appointment, he would not even come out to answer one question. The office staff is just as rude, too. I filed a complaint with the insurance company and the attorney general.

Rude, curt receptionist and doctor. Got my prescription wrong 3 times, increasingly rude and short with me as I tried to get this rectified. I suffered over a year of headaches from uneven vision through my glasses until getting new insurance to change eye doctors. Don't waste your time here if you don't have to. First of all 1 starsis being generous, but, this office after trying to charge my mom another $30 which she had a receipt for but they're insisting she never made the payment, they made her an appointment and then forgot to schedule her in and wanted her to reschedule. The staff just smugly sat behind the counter without even so much as an apology. I have had nothing but problems with this place. I told my mom she can find somewhere else to go, I had quit going to him after they forgot about my children for over 3 hours and had to redilate their eyes and then forgot about them for another hour or so. Dr. Smay has been my eye doctor for 25+ years. He has changed, Not friendly at all. Dose not even acknowledge my son when he walks in the room. He is very quick and my prescription is not correct. I am seeing a new eye Doctor today.

Always professional and courteous, from the moment you call on the phone to set the appointment, to the time you're leaving the office afterward. Receptionists, technicians, docs, back-office folks are all top-notch. High standards in every regard. A business that gets it.

I've been going to Family Eye Care for many years and have watched the practice evolve. I love the doctors there, and the staff is always helpful and courteous. What I love most is the doctors always give you the best advice to help you make informed decisions about your eye care. They take their time to explain what is happening with your eyes as you age and what steps you need to take. They don't just treat you like a patient, but like a person with real needs, and they don't beat around the bush about your medical situation. Very upfront and to the point! You can't ask for anymore than that from your doctor. I'm pleased with their services, and as long as they are around, I plan to continue to go. Great establishment! Kim at the front desk is especially nasty to customers. Erroneous information has been given to me several times regarding what is covered by insurance and what the expected payment for services would be. Long wait times to see the doctor; however, if you are running five minutes late, your appointment is canceled.

His patient care has decreased severely over the past 5 years. Front desk staff is very unprofessional. I'm fine with waiting to see him but I expect if I wait, that all my questions are answered before I'm ushered out the door like a herd of cattle. I will no longer be going to this practice. He use to be very attentive and caring, I'm not sure what changed.

Horrible! His secretary told me I needed to have me eyes dilated. When I got there the doctor walked in and told me the same. I explained I did not want it done and he went ballistic yelling and screaming. Avoid this psychotic!

I found Dr Smay to be poorly organized and dismissive. I had a scheduled appointment and waited close to an hour before I was able to see the Dr. No apologies. Was terse and borderline rude. Prices and mark up on lenses and frames seemed excessive. I don't usually leave negative reviews but I will not be going back and do not recommend you patronize this practice.

The wait time is long everytime I go. Dr. Smay thinks he knows best and could care less what his patients think. You even have to wait to pick up your glasses. The longest wait I ever had to pick up my glasses was a hour the shortest time was 30 minutes. if you value your time do not go to family eye care
