I was amazed at what he could do stitching everything back in place. I appreciate his clarity when explaining and giving directions. I would recommed him for Dermatology issues. Thank you Dr Shaffer !

I wasn't a cancer patient when I needed Dr Shaffer. Still, he treated me as gently & as kindly as if I were. I was referred to Dr Shaffer years after a different dermatologist left me with a painful and ugly sinkhole of scar tissue hanging from my jaw. Scar tissue tightens & it also hurts, & I was constantly contorting my face and my mouth & my neck to stretch out the tightness of the clump at my jaw. The years discomfort, the pain, & the change to my appearance left me depressed. Dr Shaffer treated me with dignity & compassion. Without knowing me personally, Dr Shaffer, a renowned mohs surgeon, agreed to revise a painful mess that he did not create. He treated me like I matter & like I deserved help. He knew that my face would not look or feel perfect again (sort of a losing spot to put himself). He agreed to the very real risks of leaving me dissatisfied & of agitating a fellow dermatologist. He owed me nothing. He was simply being honorable and an actual human. THAT is goodness.

I saw Dr. Joe Shaffer for the first time for a Mohs surgery on my face. It was discovered from a different dermatologist , whom of which I cannot recommend from a different company. Dr Joe has this aura about him that puts you at ease the minute he walks in the room. His confidence and assuring puts you at ease immediately which is very comforting when you’re in a high stress situation of unknowing. For me it was a one and done procedure and at no time did I feel any discomfort. Stitches just came out and looks like it would be a very tiny scar, I’m excited to see how it heals. I give him the highest of recommendations and will continue to see his wife for my skin care.

Dr. Shaffer recently used the Mohs Procedure to remove skin cancer on my cheek. He explained the procedure thoroughly, was able to remove all cancer and sutured the site expertly. Throughout the entire procedure he described what he was doing, was attentive to my concerns and explained the healing process completely. Hie professional demeanor was warm, courteous and attentive to me as his patient. Together with his Medical Assistant, Jason, I was totally apprised of the entire procedure, my post-op care and ultimate results. I could not have been in better hands. I would want Dr. Shaffer again for any dermatology procedure and would highly recommend him to anyone who wants excellent care.

Dr. Shaffer is the best!! I've had several Mohs surgeries performed by him. He has always, always had the most calming affect on me in what could be a scary situation!! His surgical abilities are amazing!! No one can tell how many procedures have been done on my body - especially my face!! No other surgeon will ever do!!

Excellent! My neighbor suggested Dr Schaffer after I told her what a local dermatologist had planned for the squamous on my face. I was scared. Texted picture to Dr Schaffer, met within a week and was treated (Mohs) and I cannot believe the result. Fantastic! Barely noticeable. Thank you! You are the best!

Dr Shaffer performed Mohs surgery on my leg. He was able to excise the skin cancer and made sure there would be no scar. He was very warm and friendly and explained everything he was going to do. I would recommend him to friends and family and have already done so. Thank you Dr Shaffer!!

Dr. Shaffer has performed three Mohs surgery on my face. He is an excellent doctor and very skilled surgeon! He explains the procedure and immediately puts you at ease. I didn’t experience pain and my incisions healed quickly. I referred a family member and they also received wonderful care.

I had a sq. cell carcinoma in my ear (& from a previous plastic surgery procedure by another Dr. and location, cartilage sticking out of the back of my ear). Dr Cook, my Dermatologist (same clinic), got me in to see Dr. Shaffer very quickly due to my history of skin cancer. He was everything she said he was - - very skilled, friendly and caring. He did a terrific job - - can't say enough about him and the entire staff there.

Dr. Shaffer does outstanding work! I would highly recommend him to anyone for MOHS Surgery...both for the quality of his work and his attentiveness to the patient experience.

Of course I was anxious about having the melanoma removed from my face, and I was even a little vain about the scar that I expected. From the moment Dr. Shaffer came into the room he put me (and my wife) at ease with his wonderful personality, and he also explained the procedure, the need for it, and his expected outcome, in a thoroughly professional manner. Once he started the procedure he kept me calm while explaining everything he was doing for my wife. Couldn't have been better!

Dr. Shaffer performed Mohs surgery on a very noticeable spot on my face. He not only did an amazing job, he was kind and explained every part of the procedure and recovery. I was very apprehensive, not only because of the cancer, but the permanent scar that I imagined. Imagined, it was! After only two weeks you can barely see a thing. I have seen Dr. Shaffer twice for a MOHS procedure. Both times he did the procedure in a very excellent manner. He thoroughly explains what he is doing and his assistants are very good as well. I would definitely see him again should I need the procedure in the future.

I had two separate appointments with Dr. Shaffer for MOHS surgery in a two week time span. Each time I found Dr. Shaffer to be so professional, yet kind and caring regarding explanation of my procedures, at home care and follow up care. He is so easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor. His assistants were wonderful with the same qualities I described for Dr. Shaffer. I saw Charlene and Layla as well as another assistant (sorry, can't remember her name).

Dr. Shaffer recently treated a pre-skin cancer for me. He was prompt, professional and friendly. I was able to get in to see him in a timely manner. He was prepared to treat this area of concern more thoroughly if warranted. Thankfully it was a quick treatment. He explained the condition and encouraged me to return for any further concerns.

Dr Shaffer performed MOHs surgery on my scalp. I was very concerned about the potential for having a bald spot because of a previous bad experience with a different dermatologist. Dr Shaffer was very good about addressing my concerns and shaving only as much of my hair as was necessary. He clearly understands the importance of dealing with patients anxiety not only about treatment, but also about cosmetic outcomes.

Wit anxiety over a skin cancer diagnosis and impending MOHS treatment, I found myself totally at ease with Dr. Shaffer and his staff. His outstanding sense of humor combined with his professionalism, made my whole experience turn around from fear to confidence.
