I am not a client of Dr. Rotella but I do know that he said, “I am not a babysitter.” after refusing to provide a doctors note to patient. That does not show concern for the employment of his patients. I hope this will chan in the future.

I gave Dr. Rotella and his practice the benefit of the doubt for over a year but they continued to disappoint. For some reason the staff have always treated me as a nuisance and have shown very little consideration for my well-being both in person and, especially, over the phone. I read in the reviews that a couple of other patients experienced the same treatment despite being very respectful and polite. I am not sure why that happened to us, but it did. If only the staff's bad manners were counterbalanced by Dr. Rotella's excellent medical expertise! That is not the case. Dr. Rotella Googled the symptoms of my (quite common) condition in front of me during a visit as he struggled to provide a course of treatment (which, not surprisingly, he failed to do). I was incredulous and immediately started looking for a different practice. If you suffer from any condition (serious or not so serious), do not go here. Doctor Rotella is the best doctor I have ever had. He listens to my questions and he has refered me to a heart specialist and a pulmonary doctor as well. He is very caring. He has been my doctor for many years.

Doctor Rotella is the best doctor I've ever had, genuinely cares about his patients. I always feel like he knows me personally. Always happy to see me, and I'm a challenging patient.

Dr Rotella is the best! I’m a difficult case. I have many unusual health issues & he just dove right in to make a plan of attack. He researches as needed & explains things in layman’s terms. I have very bad doctor anxiety & he put me at ease immediately. He’s laid back, non-imposing, but very tuned in to what you are saying. He listens! He’s very kind, professional, & he’s always available. He is very intelligent, down-to-earth, & has a lot of common sense, unlike many doctors I’ve had in past. He doesn’t have an ego or his own agenda, that gets in the way of caring for his patients! He genuinely cares & I trust him completely. He gives you options & let’s you decide what you want. He never makes me feel bad if I didn’t take his suggestions. He also has a great network of specialists, & he works with my insurance. Dr R even worked with my disability lawyers. I had a preventative visit with one of the nurse practitioners at Prevene. That is what they told me I have to do as a new patient, prior to seen Dr Rotella. I am a new patient and Dr Rotella was highly recommended as a PCP, however the staff at Prevene is very unknowledgable and unprofessional. They do not introduce themselves when you go to the office, very unprofessional when you have to call the office, or when they call, and don't bill correctly for the services they provide. Very disappointed from their service so far.

I've been a patient of Dr Rotella for several years. I believe he and his staff literally saved my live two years ago after an infection and complications after open heart surgery. He was instrumental and getting me readmitted and treated for a serious post op infection. I trust him and his excellent staff with my healthcare. I'm happy he is younger than I and hope he can be my GP for many years.

Great Doctor very intuitive nice person doesn't prejudge

I’ve been seeing him since (almost) the beginning of his practice. I trust him. He’s been an excellent physician for me, my family and for a few friends I asked him to see because they were completely frustrated with their doctor.

Dr. Rotella is great! He listens well; he is patient and helpful. In addition to treating disease, I appreciate his passion for health and wellness.

Dr Rotella was very knowledgeable caring and professional . His staff courteous. I recommend Dr Rotella to whomever is looking for a family physician.

A longtime patient of Joseph Rotella, MD at the Scottsdale Medical Center. I have MS - due to the physical challenge of getting to his office I reluctantly had to switch to home health care. After three months I canceled. Nobody compares to Dr. Rotella. I'm back with the doctor who cares about me as a person, who treats me like family. Emailed him yesterday and said that even though it will be difficult physically, I want to come home. That evening, long after office hours Dr. Rotella wrote back: "We will always be here for you, and I will take care of you." That's indicative of his patient care. I recommend him and his Scottsdale Medical Care practice. Not only is he an extraordinary physician, recently he had the foresight to open an adjacent office called Prevene (as in preventative medicine) patients learn more about their body than they ever thought possible using state-of-the-art scanners. His annual physicals are full-body scans- they are covered by insurance. Can't beat that.

Had my 2:30 appointment cancelled so they could close at 1:30, thanks, I’ll find someone else

I do not take joy in leaving such a low review for such a great doctor. Dr. Rotella is cordial, warm, empathetic, and very patient. He even gave me an adjustment while there for another issue, something that takes time out of his busy day. Again, I cannot rave enough about Dr. Rotella. The reason for the low review is the office staff. Now, it should be noted I have seen the two women at the front desk provide warm, loving service to several other patients, so if you go to this doctor there's a great chance you'll love it. For me however, I got nothing but dirty looks, dismissive, short responses, and they'd talk down to me over the phone or should I ask them anything. I've experienced service like this before, and typically don't mind; I look a little rough around the edges, have some facial hair and long hair for a guy. But I have a full time job, I am responsible, and most importantly, courteous to the people I meet in life because I work in customer service too. This courtesy was not returned. In return, I have never given them a snotty response, a dirty look, or raised my voice or complained. Small little acts like these over each of my visits confirmed it wasn't just a bad day for them, they genuinely do not want to deal with me. Did I get withheld medical care? No, not at all. But the disdain wasn't veiled at all. But yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back. I called in to have a prescription called in for me. This is a non-narcotic mood stabilizer for context. Anyways, I after a short hold to check my file, I was told "That's a new medicine you're on and you need to come in for a follow up", I explained I've been on this medicine for a year+ before I even started seeing Dr. Rotella. I was also told in a condescending way that I was given enough medication to last until the 11th and I should call my pharmacist, and regardless of how long I've been on the medicine I need to come in. I have not lost any pills and have used my medicine as directed so I'm not sure where they got their math for that, regardless, I still need medicine. I was then interrupted while explaining this with "WAITWAITWAITWAITWAIT! *my name*, just WAIT ok?!" and was immediately put on hold. She got back on the line, confirmed I still had to come in and made an appointment for thursday, during which she chuckled at me stating my frustration and showed no empathy when telling me shes just the messenger. Again, I did not raise my voice, I did not make any accusations or insults, I just stressed that I need this medicine so I don't obsess about killing myself. It has bothered me so much, I couldn't sleep. I scheduled another appointment with a new doctor and called Dr. Rotella's office today and left a message cancelling my appointment and informing them that I would be immediately discontinuing services with them. My final takeaway from all of this is that if you are over the age of 35 and/or groomed to whatever arbitrary standards they have, you will have a good experience. The entire back staff are patient and a joy to deal with. I've seen the front staff be very helpful to senior citizens especially, they do seem warmer with women as well, wish I had received the same. I have being seeing Dr. Rotella for at least 7 years and have received the very best in professional medical attention and care. The staff is the best I have ever dealt with...professional & friendly. I have referred others to Dr. Rotella and they have also been exceedingly pleased with the care they have received.

I have been a patient of Dr. Rotella for around 9-10 years. I have never had a doctor that cares more about his patients and their needs then Dr. Rotella. His integrity in his business is amazing. I am 69 years old and Dr. Rotella is the best doctor I have ever seen. He is the smartest, most compassionate, most caring and most thorough doctor I have ever known. He takes care of a myriad of problems so I don't have to see a number of specialists. He really listens when I talk which is very rare. His staff is great. The office is beautiful and convenient. He is simply the best and there is no more to say. I highly recommend him for your PCP.

Dr. Joe asked me to try out his new Preveen Health and Wellness Clinic located across the parking lot from the regular office. Visited yesterday for my annual physical and found the environment to be quiet and soothing. Staff was super helpful, caring and professional, helping to lay out a plan to stay healthy, lose weight in a multi-month plan and stay on track. This practice is a great new addition to his already great team of professionals. Cannot say enough good things about them all.

He has been very thorough when I have had to see him regarding medical issues. His support staff is very good and following up on my progress as well.

Staff very rude and it seems like a busy office. I was looking to establish a relationship with an actually primary care physician, but I was scheduled with a staff PA. No thanks, i will go elsewhere.

Have been going to Dr Rotella for about five years now and can recommend him without reservation. Prescriptions pills don't fix everything and that is not necessarily his first line of attack. Great chair-side manner and willing to truly listen so he understands what you are saying to get to a solution. He conveys such a sense of calm and is extremely easy to talk to. While I don't see him as labeled "Integrative" - I find him more in that mold than any other.

Dr. Rotella was great plus office has ability to do quick lab tests. Also, nurses and other staff were very friendly.

I just started going to Dr Rotella on the first visit I was completely impressed with the front desk how helpful and friendly his medical assistant Amy made me feel at ease Dr Rotella took the time to answer all my questions and concerns without feeling rushed I would highly recommend Dr Rotella to anyone looking for a Dr that cares about his patients and gives them the time they need

Dr. Rotella is the kind of doctor you would expect in a small town. He always takes time for me and answers all questions. He gives options of treatment and is far and above the norm these days.. He operates his practice with a genuine emphasis on help and benevolence. I suffer migraines and I am very grateful to have been referred to him. Very refreshing.

Upon arrival we were immediately greeted and registered. We were called back at our appointment time. Dr Rotella and staff gave us their full attention in a timely manner.

Dr. Rotella cares. He is so thorough, sincerely concerned, and wants to get to the root of any problems you may have. I have seen a lot of doctors, he is the best I've ever had. And his Physician's assistant is cut from the same cloth. Highest recommendation, Holly (Garcia) Held.

WOW! Dr. Rotella is definitely an over-achiever who will work on your issues until you are feeling your best. Dr. Rotella is a very sincere and caring doctor. I've never had such accessibility to a doctor through his portal, he answers very quickly (even though it says up to 2 days, it's generally less). He never makes you feel as if you are rushed, or when you leave as if you haven't had a question answered. If I forget something, I've always been able to just email through the portal and get it answered. I've had a tremendous amount of experience with doctors, I can highly recommend Dr. Rotella.

Dr Rotella and his staff have been caring for my family and I for the past 5 years. Each visit, Dr Rotella spends time with me and my family to explain everything.. I feel like he and his staff truly care.... I never feel rushed. I went undiagnosed for years with a Thyroid condition but Dr Rotella was able to figure it out on my first office visit. I will forever be grateful!
