Dr. Maslak did not listen to me at all when I was admitted to the hospital this past week. I have Crohns and was having severe diarrhea as well as severe abdominal pain, but he refused to figure out what could be causing the pain. When he was made aware that I didn’t just want pain meds, I wanted things to be resolved, he told my nurse, “I will happily discharge her if she would like to go somewhere else.” He wouldn’t listen to anything I said, and even when I was in severe pain, he would refuse to give me anything to help. Good doctors are those who listen to and believe their patients, knowing that those patients with chronic illnesses are well aware of how their bodies work and don’t work.
