Joseph Michael Kamerling

We had a very bad experience at Dr. Kamerling’s office. I brought my 97 year old wheelchair bound mother to see the doctor. It was very difficult for her (especially transferring from one chair to another) and he made no attempt to accommodate her in any way. He showed not an ounce of compassion or even kindness. She ended up exhausted and in tears. We would never think of returning.

He has a "dry" bedside manner and really wasn't overly friendly. I'm glad my daughter was with me, I would have been most uncomfortable. Then came the check-out. How humiliating! I was told I had to pay for the refraction (understood that) but they demanded my co-pay and deductible too. I have had Medicare and Horizon Blue Cross for 6 years and have never paid like that. I was overcharged for the refraction and also threatened with a collection agency. Needless to say I won't go back there nor will I recommend the office. This is the very first time I have ever done one of these things but they humiliated me in front of every one in the office. I have 2 other visits outstanding, what happens if they come in first? Don't seniors ever get a break?

I have been a patient of Dr. Kamerling for many years (was patient of his father before him). He is a highly skilled physician who takes the time to answer any questions/concerns you may have regarding your vision. I definitely recommend him.
