Some of the best care comes from Dr. Gathe, he is caring and compassionate and very knowledgeable so would recommend him for all your care and needs.

I normally don’t do reviews but I have to defend this awesome staff. Great front desk. Great nurse. And Dr G is the best. Some have said “rude” ..this office is just super busy all the time..:because Dr. Gathe is a great doctor. I moved from HOU to Corpus. I refuse to get a local doctor. I make the trip to HOU for routine visits …Dr G and his staff have been flexible knowing I have to make a long trip …that should tell you all you need to know! I drive a 7 hour round trip to see him vs finding a new local doctor! Staff are busy. Not rude. Just busy. And honestly I’m in and out every visit. I drive 7 hours. I’m there less than 30 min. Well because they are in point! And I prefer that I hate going to a doctor with an appt time and you see the doctor an hour later. Not here! I never waited more than 5-10 min! They are busy. They work to stay on schedule & respect the patients needs but time as well! So not rude. Just busy! I have full trust in this Doctor and his practice and staff!

Dr. Gathe has been my physician since 1996, which is almost all of my adult life. He has the best bedside manner of any physician I’ve ever seen, including every specialist I’ve had over the last 20 years. I love Dr Gathe. I think he is absolutely the best HIV physician in Houston. His staff of nurses are horrible. I have not met one that is good yet. I have contacted the Texas Board of Nursing to have Kamesha lose her license as a LVN. She treats customers (patients) as if they are an inconvenience. She doesn't realize that she is in a customer service position. And, this attitude that she has that she is better than anyone else does not make sense for a low level LVN. A friend of mine that is a P.A. Memorial Hermann urged me to register a complaint against Kamesha and the nursing manager Q Downing. I have done so. Please others that are having problems with any of these nurses, do the same. It is the only way to have their license revoked and for Dr Gathe to hire a new staff. He is incredible and deserves and incredible staff. As it is right now, he has the worst nursing staff of any HIV clinic. I have had HIV for 20 years with 4 physicians. Dr Gathe is incredible.

This is a very horrible clinic. The nurses and employees are rude. There is even abuse towards patients. The state health department should intervene and investigate what's going on. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Him and his office are lying about COVID RESULTS! My husband recieved a call with positive results and we NEVER made it to get tested! If this is on his health records, or reported to CDC by this office, we will be taking legal actions!

Dr Gathe and his staff REFUSED to provide information about Cross Reactive elements that can cause False Positives so I could do Process of Elimination Testing. Refused to the point that he cut off my medications. So I suppose if I die...I'll have my answer. I will be reporting him to medical board. And I will be contacting a lawyer about this. Excuse me for having Trust Issues with a doctor that willfully withholds critical information from a patient. The staff is meant for each other. They all compliment each other in their daily activities while attending to their patients.

Dr Gathe is the best doctor I have been treated by or have worked with. He has saved my life several times. His bedside manner should be the standard that all doctors are taught to strive toward. He genuinely cares for his patients and that makes all the difference for patients to achieve a positive outcome. His office staff have always been pleasant and helpful. And specifically Tina has helped me more times than I can count. She has always gone above and beyond in helping me.

They won't actually see patients...even in an emergency...and don't offer any help. I don't know what this useless "doctor" does.

I only met Dr. Gathe once in the last 13 years since I've been going to his clinic. I've always been seen by Karl M. (PA). I have put up with rudeness with front desk personnel over the years, but I didn't let it bother me due to Karl's great personality and professionalism. The one star review is due to the current protocol that the clinic has in place in regards to providing a diagnosis. I had blood work done over three weeks ago and I knew the blood work results were going to take 5 to 7 days to come back. After not hearing back from Gathe's office in regards to my blood work I assumed nothing came back positive. Two weeks after my blood was drawn I started to feel fatigue and no sexual drive. Out of curiosity, I called to inquire to make sure all of the tests results were negative and to my surprise I tested positive for an acute bacteria. I was appalled that the office didn't call me immediately after receiving my test results! The nurse and office staff stated that they don't contact patients back because they see too many patients and they only give test results whenever a patient calls. I have never heard of a doctor's office not calling it's patient to advise to either setup an appointment or give the results over the phone. I tried to speak with Karl over the phone in regards to my dissatisfaction with the clinic's "You call us not us call you" protocol, but the nurses are the only ones that speak with patients due to neither Dr. Gathe nor Karl speak with patients on the phone. If I wanted to voice my opinion and dissatisfaction I was told that I needed to make an appointment in order to speak with Karl. I spoke with my PCP and my pharmacist in regards to Dr. Gathe's clinic protocol and they don't agree with not calling a patient and not advising of test results. At any rate, I am angry, extremely dissatisfied and I have found another infectious diease doctor with a friendly staff. I wouldn't recommend going to Gathe's clinic unless you like doing the leg work in you calling for test results and putting up with rudeness from certain staff members. I have been seeing Dr. Gathe since 2012. He is a great doctor and I will no longer be seeing him, because I now live in Austin and can no longer drive to Houston to see him. He is kind, friendly and completely professional. I recommend highly.

Best Doctor ever. Been seeing him 25 years plus. Saved my life many times! And great staff. His joy alone can cure!

I find it hard to believe that Dr. Gathe's office was that rude to this lady. He has been my Doctor and in business for years and never have I heard anyone explain their "experience" this way. Tina the office manager has been nothing but professional and courteous towards me and everyone else who steps foot in Dr. Gathe's office.

I love Dr. Gathe. I do not care for some front desk and nurses. When you call a nurse they are rude and say they are in clinic til 4:30. This is a very inconvient window of time for people who work til 5 or 6. As for some front desk team members. I have given authority to pull other Dr records and they lost them.They seem a bit unorganized.

While I hear Dr. Gathe is wonderful, previous reviews must be referring to different staff members. After an appointment Tina, the office manager, had an absolutely appalling and rude attitude along with one of the schedulers who didn’t identify herself. I did not understand something and they were so nasty and rude. They are not nurses (verified) and tried to make medical decisions when they are not qualified. Excellent care

i RARELY GIVE A DOCTOR A REVIEW ACTUALLY THIS IS A FIRST BUT I MUST GIVE CREDIT WHERE ITS DUE. DR. GATHE IS A DOCTOR OF OLD SCHOOL ONE THAT USES HIS PAST EXPERIENCE AND TAKES NEW IDEAS AND THEN PRESCRIBES TREATMENT IT SEEMS WITH WONDERFUL RESULTS ACTUALLY ALMOST MIRACULOUS . I PERSONALL DO NOT SEE HIM AS A PATIENT BUT MY PARTNER DOES HE MOVED HIS PRIMARY ID DOCTOR TO ATHE AND I CANT TELL YOU ITS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY, HE HAS DONE VERY WELL WITH DR, GATHE WHEN OTHER DOCTORS GAVE UP ON HIM AND TOLD HIM HE HAD 6 MONTHS TO LIVE AND ALMOST FIVE YEARS LATER HE STAND IN BETTER HEALTH AND LOOKS GREAT.
