If you are a female experiencing mental health issues , DO NOT go to see this psychiatrist because he will tell you most of your issues are due to PMSing. ???? Very misogynistic and only cares about a paycheck, not actually helping people who are struggling with mental health.

I am 110% positive that this doctor should not be left in the company of any child,ever. My cousin was being treated with depression when she was in her early adolescent years. Her mother took her to Belmont pines as the last resort because my cousin was very depressed. My cousin shared some personal information about her visit that was disturbing. She was told she was just going in for a regular session with Dr.Farris. The doors from the waiting area leading to his office which was connected to belmont pines locked from the outside, by his finger print . She had no way of getting out to her mom. Dr.Farris made her feel trapped,belittled and unworthy of respect. Without even asking what was going on with her he said urgently "your actions leading to why you are here makes me want to keep you here". That was not right. My cousin was admitted. Kids were mistreated especially the really little ones she said. This man is not helping our youth. He is hurting them. Yank his license.

I can’t put into words how grateful I am for Dr. Farris and the staff at Belmont Pines. My son has been suffering with psychiatric issues for over 3 years. Psychiatry is a very complex field and my son was have severe violent outbursts of rage and homicidal thoughts. (He was very blunt and honest of informing us he couldn’t control his thoughts.) He was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 21 months when I lived in WNY. I was constantly told all his issues were “because he had Autism.” Now, I’m not a doctor by any stretch and don’t have the education and licensing, but I just knew something on a deeper level was going on with my son. When you’re dealing with these situations, you have to be willing to trust their professional opinion and think with an open mind and be receptive to their suggestions because we were running out of hope. Dr. Farris concluded my son was also struggling with bipolar disorder. We’re grateful for his expertise and now we can move forward helping my son.

My son was also having reactions to amphetamine-based drugs to help control his ADHD. I had my speculations he could be bipolar or possibly schizophrenic. This was my sons 2nd psychiatric admission/stay in 6 months. Dr. Farris was able to figure out my son was in fact, was struggling with bipolar disorder, on top of his ASD and ADHD diagnoses. I feel immense relief knowing we now have an answer and we can do better with getting my son more help and being supportive because we do love him very much. Doctors are mandatory reporters and CPS only gets involved to check on the children and make sure everything in the home is alright. This is also a liability to the staff if it is over-looked. I have no issues with CPS coming into our home because I don’t take it personally and I’m a law-abiding citizen. They come and investigate and if they have no suspicions and as long as you comply with them, they end up closing the case. They’re just doing their job. I’ve only had positive experiences with CPS because of my willingness to comply!!! I can’t put into words how thankful I am to Dr. Farris and the staff for their medical expertise and their willingness to help our family. This review is well earned and a huge weight is lifted from our shoulders.

Horrible horrible dr. My daughter had a medication reaction to an antidepressant and was admitted into the hospital. Dr. Farris wanted to start new medication and when I refused he slapped a 72 hour hold on my child so I couldn’t get her.... literally held my child hostage. Finally got her out of that insane place and I was home an hour and had children services on my doorstep! Ignorant man that is a pill pusher and if you don’t agree with him then he does whatever he feels like.

Dr Farris is a phenomenal man. His dedication toward his inpatient and outpatient care is unmatched. I am nothing but thankful for everything he has done for my daughter, as well as his personality to make it easy for her to talk to him.

Dr Fares has been wonderful with me. He has taken care of my issues and is always there if I need him. I would highly recommend him.

Very good doctor, I dont know why there are so many negative reviews on here, I have no problems with him.

I don't know why a Dr wouldn't give a 15 year old boy his medicine.. (Devon) but it's just ridiculous.. you are supposed to be helping the young adults at Belmont Pines but you decided not to give my son his Adderall .. but you made sure he got a pill to go to sleep..He was so mentally and physically fatigued to that when he woke up he passed out.. please make sure my son gets his Adderall tomorrow and then every other day that he has Dr Joe Farris..And then deny his release home !unbelievable!!

NOT helpful!!!!! My girlfriend in health care warned me about him, she does not like him at all. Wish I would have took her advice years ago I wouldn't be where we are now.

I think he is great specially when it comes to my brother!!!

I feel he is a really good doctor and a good person in general.

This doctor will tell lies about your child and falsify documentation. Threatening you with children services if you don't comply. No business in charge of children.

You don't even deserve one star. When I was at Belmont you were the worst screw you Farris

Dr. Farris helped my daughter manage her anxiety and meet our goal of no IEP by 7th grade. As a 10th grader she is now in National Honor Society, looking for a part time job, and is aspiring to become a physical therapist some day. Dr. Farris played a significant role in improving her mental health!!

I thought this guy was very arrogant. Rude. Mean. Shouldn't be a doctor.
