Dr. Josefina Vega Marin

I waited a while to post this but I feel more comfortable now. It was my very first gynecologist visit and my first time getting birth control. I didn't know migraines were relevant to choosing birth control and I was not asked about whether I have them at all. She gave me a free sample of birth control from a brand that was advertised around her office. I got home and thank God I read all the fine print because it said if you experience migraines with auras do not take this pill. I went back and found out I needed to be taking minipills. I think it's HIGHLY unprofessional that I was pushed a brand that was clearly sponsoring the doctor without being properly assessed and asked all the necessary questions. Additional, my first time going back was supposed to be an assessment for how the pill was going. I had it all scheduled but I also had multiple other appointments that week. When I went in and they told me they didn't have me on the schedule but they'd "fit me in", saying it as if I was a burden but they were going to help me out anyway. I started getting anxious that I'd mixed up appointments and I should be somewhere else right now. But every time I asked if I had time to run to my car to grab my planner (which had my appointment card in it) they said "well she'll be out in just a few". I waited much longer than a few. When I was finally called in, she had no idea who I was or why I was there. I had to tell her it was a first checkup after starting a medication. She said "are you having any problems?" And I said no I don't think so, and she sent me back out with a prescription renewal. When I went back to my car I found the appointment card and saw that I had been there the right day at the right time. By the time she actually saw me it was way past my initial scheduled appointment. Overall I very much do not recommend this practice for it's unprofessionalism both with customer service and with patient care. It borders on the line of medically dangerous. She is a wonderful doctor and very knowledgeable

I have had numerous bad instances with Dr. Marin. I had blood test done with her, for I did not have a primary doctor at the time, which cost about $4k. It has been over a month since she has given me the results after numerous times asking for the results. Then, after needing a urine culture for an emergency UTI, they told me to go see a doctor at urgent care instead of my trusted doctor. Telling me they couldn't give me medicine without one. The urgent care in upstate NY is notoriously terrible and even the girl WORKING at urgent care told me I would not be treated correctly. I missed work and urgent care couldn't even detect anything. I called my old Gyno and she prescribed me my usual UTI medicine on the spot. Thankfully, I was treated correctly without even going in to the office. Even after crying on the phone to nurses, this office refused to help me. Unprofessional, uncaring, and severely disappointing.

In one word, it was disaster! I wont put my life in hands of people who do not take minimum responsibility about their patients’ lives and efforts. The worst experience of any kind of dr visit I’ve ever had. I, myself am a scientist and working in healthcare system and I know how critical it is to treat patients well and they did not care about it at all. I hope anyone that needs medical attention and would be a 'new patient' of this practice reads this.. I called a while ago to try to make an appointment and was told even though I could have been considered as an EMERGENCY appointment I got told that since I'm new, regardless of the fact that I needed medical attention and this place is listed as a provider for my insurance that I NEEDED TO CALL BACK IN JULY TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!!!! Now, I work in the health care field myself but that is absolutely REVOLTING to me that I got told that after explaining the necessity of me needing an appointment.. How do you run a business if you have your staff running away your patients? I understand that COVID has EVERYONE in the medical field backed up but this is just sad. I would not advise ANYONE WHO WANTS PROPER CARE TO COME HERE BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY YOU WILL NOT BE PROPERLY CARED FOR. Dr Josephine Marin does not even deserve 1 star buy here we go...what kind of doctor speaks with you on the phone yesterday to call you back the next day to tell you that she never spoke to me yesterday. Then when I started telling her my issue again, she said oh yes I remember now. No sorry nothing. Then she proceeds to ask me my issues and I tell her I was getting upset she said well you need to to tell me everything again because I didnt take notes yesterday. So I said this is ridiculous and Mr Marin starts ranting that the office had to close and they are doing the best they can and blah blah blah. That has nothing to do with my issue it's just very unprofessional manner on her part. I love Dr. Marin! She is so kind hearted and is so knowledgeable. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients. I would highly recommend her to anyone lookin for a new doctor of Gynecology in the Clifton park area.

Probably one of the brightest physicians I have ever had...and at the same time very gentle, compassionate and not rushed. A more comprehensive GYN annual visit than I’ve experienced and great follow up communication. Entire staff/team is very friendly.

Brilliant, compassionate, very dedicated to women’s holistic health and well-being. Provides great education information as part if each visit. supportive yet very pragmatic. She has taken care of me for years.

I have been with Dr. Marin for many years and I have found her to be extremely understanding and very compassionate. She has addressed all my issues good and bad. I adore her and her opinions.

Office is disorganized. Patients time is not valued. You should not have to waste your time to continually call a doctors office to follow up on things that were promised to be done.

Told me to follow the instructions, rather curtly, of another gynecologist who was just as uncaring and unable to help me. They both got my actual condition wrong and I continued to deteriorate in the meantime. I was finally properly diagnosed by a nurse from Albany Med over the phone. I do not recommend this practice she does not listen and is dismissive and mean-as for the other doctor, thankfully she has retired and can do no more damage. Go somewhere else. (Like Albany Med.) Beautiful office, very nice staff. The provider was really friendly and super enthusiastic, spent a great deal of time with me and was obviously very passionate. Unfortunately she feels really strongly about two popular fad diet (there is no other word for them, as they are not evidence based) that I was not able to get a word in edge wise. Ultimately, we did not even have time to address my presenting complaint because so much time was spent discussing these diets! I tried to re-direct her several times, even reminding her that I was in eating disorder recovery and discussions like these were dangerous to me and not helpful. Regrettably, this did not seem to slow her tirade, although she did concede that it was not wise to “stress about food”. Sadly, this shows a poor understanding of eating disorders and how detrimental they are to health. More than just “stressing about food,” they are a deadly mental illness. Repeatedly prescribing diets, especially after the patient asks you not to, is akin to prescribing a recovered alcoholic a drink. I am really disappointed because I loved many things about her approach, her mannerisms, her knowledge etc, but her refusal to honor my boundaries (even though I know she thinks she is doing the right thing) means that I cannot safely work with her. She obviously is very passionate about her job and well educated, but she needs to reflect on her lack of sensitivity to people in certain populations, and do some continuing education on how to work with these patients without inadvertently harming them. Obviously, if you are health conscious and like a good fad diet every now and then, you will probably love her. Dr Marin is simply the best. She will give you all the time you need and treats your whole being. I love her!

I'm very disheartened that I'm even writing this review. I've been a patient of Dr. Marin's for just about 10 years. I loved how caring she was and the time she took to explain and make you feel like the only patient of the day and I've often referred others to her practice. Recently I've had my yearly appointment and was given a script for a pelvic ultrasound. During the ultrasound, I was told I had a few things going on by the technician. I followed up for results with Dr. Marin by leaving at least three voicemails on the nurses' line, emailed two office staff, as well as Dr. Marin and finally after several days rec'd a response from Dr. Marin via email stating results. I immediately emailed her back asking if she could please call me as I had a few questions. She responded that she would and we agreed to 5:00 pm that night....the phone call never came. She followed up with an email the following afternoon, apologized that she had an emergency at the hospital (which knowing what I know now, I truly feel this wasn't the truth), and asked if she could call at 6 pm that night. It's been 11 days and I still haven't heard from her. I can't quite put my finger on what is going on at that practice, but she has lost all credibility with me. At this point I truly wouldn't feel comfortable with any care I received there. I pray that whatever is going on, Dr. Marin is able to make the appropriate changes that are needed before more patients who have been faithful to her practice end up leaving, like myself. All I can say is that it takes me 30 minutes to get to her office but I would drive 3 hours if I had to, to be Dr. Marin's patient.. She is phenomenal!! So caring and gentle and she spends time with you, never do you feel rushed. She was my doctor when I was pregnant for my son 23 years ago! The office also has a very warm and relaxing atmosphere.. Her nurse is super sweet and also very caring and receptionists are too! I highly recommend this office, you will not be disappointed.. I have been a patient of Dr. Marin's for nearly 20 years. She is an excellent doctor and a truly caring person.

I have been a patient of Dr.Marin for a decade now, she is a wonderful person and cares deeply for her patients. Mary, her nurse has been a long time favorite of mine as well.

Dr Marin is a thorough and caring doctor! Highly recommend her! She takes the time to care and offer knowledge and wisdom from her experience! Love her! Always reviews results with patients personally and sends reports quickly!

Been going to Dr. Marin for many years. I moved out of state, and I still go to her when I return home because I really like and trust her. She is straightforward; I never feel like I am getting the run-around, or like I am being patronized. And she takes an interest in me and my life so I do not feel like a number.

If it wasn't required to give at least one star to write a review, I wouldn't have. This is the kind of "care" no woman should ever have to deal with. A condescending "Doctor" who gives self-contradicting advice who is "very busy with surgeries" can't return phone calls in regard to blood work that was extremely (in her words) time sensitive due to a possible thyroid condition, possible pcos, possible endometriosis, both of which can cause difficulty with fetility. After 4 weeks of me constantly badgering this office for someone to explain my blood work results, finally a nurse (I think) disclosed I had pcos over the phone. (My original appointment had to be rescheduled after I sat in the waiting room for and hour and 45 minutes waiting for Dr. Marin.) after finally getting this quack on the phone she told me that all the damage as far as hair growth, hair loss, weight gain would be extremely hard to undo. She continually kept "forgetting" to call in the birth control that was supposed help my condition. When she finally did call it in....surprise, she called in the one I had noted several times prior having adverse reactions to. And to top it all off....they moved the office from colonie to Clifton park with literally 3 days notice. This experience lasted about 2 1/2 months. Never went back. Never will. Don't waste your time and risk your health by going here. If it wasn't required to give at least one star to write a review, I wouldn't have.
