Dr. Jose Marchena

When I presented to Dr. Marchena's practice, it was due to dental pain in my lower jaw due to 2 fully-impacted wisdom teeth. I spent hours calling different practices to assure that I could use my medical insurance for the coverage of this procedure. In my meeting with Dr. Jose Marchena, I requested that only the bottom 2 teeth be removed due to lack of symptoms in my upper jaw and financial concerns/uncertainty that all 4 teeth would be covered by my insurance. Dr. Marchena, however, recommended that I remove all 4 as a “preventative measure” and assured me that because the top 2 teeth were “partially impacted” insurance would also cover this and that it would be better for me to get all 4 taken out at once. I made the mistake of trusting this advice. I paid the amount due on the day of my procedure and am confused about why, over 1 year later, I am receiving a bill for almost 500 dollars. This reflects poorly on both the physician and office staff and I am extremely disappointed with the treatment I have received and the lag in time to address this issue. I did not especially want my top teeth removed and expressed concern about the cost, however I was convinced and assured that insurance would cover removal of all 4 teeth. I expressed concerns to the office staff with no response and am extremely disappointed with Dr. Marchena's reassurance that a procedure would be covered when he clearly did not have the correct information.
