Jonathan Philip Partington

I had a large brain tumor 15 years ago and Dr. Partington was the surgeon recommended to me for its removal. There are several reasons why I believe he provided substandard care: 1. Based on review of my MRI images, it should have been evident to him that it wouldn’t be possible to remove the entire tumor based on its proximity to a neuro pathway. He gave us no indication that he would not be able to completely remove it. 2. Immediately following the surgery, he informed my mother and husband that I had cancer. This was before he had results from the biopsy, meaning that it was impossible to know if it was malignant at that time. 3. My pain was very poorly managed, despite his reassurances prior to surgery that he would do everything possible to prevent me from being in misery after the surgery. 3. Two days after surgery, he told me that I did not have cancer and that I would not require treatment for cancer as a result. 4. At my first follow up appointment after surgery, the staples on my head needed removed (they were ear to ear like a headband). I was very concerned about pain that would result from having them removed, as they had been in long enough for skin to become embedded. Dr. Partington was unwilling to explain the removal process and show me the tool. He rushed through it and was not the slightest bit gentle. 5. At the same appointment mentioned above, I asked him about necessary follow up for what he had told us was a benign tumor. He said that it would grow back and require a future surgery to remove as much as possible again. Because the original surgery was such a bad experience, I was understandably upset. He told me that aside from waiting for it to grow back and have another surgery, there was nothing I could do. After that, my husband wondered if radiation could be an option to prevent future growth and a second surgery. Dr. Partington told us that was not a viable choice. A few days after that appointment, I called an oncologist to get his opinion about radiation so my husband went to Dr. Partington’s office and received a copy of my file to take to the oncologist for his review prior to a an appointment with him for his opinion about using radiation to prevent tumor regrowth. At the appointment with the oncologist, he mentioned my “type of cancer”, which was a humongous shock because Dr. Partington specifically told us that I did not have cancer. The oncologist told us that I should immediately begin treatment for brain cancer to prevent brain damage, paralysis and eventual death. How was the oncologist able to look at the same biopsy report as Dr. Partington and see that I had cancer when Dr. Partington had unequivocally told us that I did not have it? It is my belief that Dr. Partington did not want the unpleasant task of telling us my real diagnosis and/or just wanted the opportunity to perform a repeat brain surgery. If I had waited for the tumor to regrow so he could attempt removal again, I would have died. He is very thorough and cares deeply about his patients. I like that about him. My fiancé caught a bad infection after his surgery however which has been a nightmare. Then he ended up with a blood clot. Everyone involved in his care has been wonderful. I don't believe any of these events had to do with Dr. P tho, they were just random events. The incision was beautifully done. He took his time. The only thing I have negative to say about Dr. Partington is that he refused to send my fiancé to a rehab facility where they could have given him around the clock care until he was better. Dr. P just told him to go home and get better. Which means I have to give around the clock care. This wouldn't be that bad if I didn't have a full time job and a child to care for. So, if you are reading this and God forbid you find yourself in this situation. Demand to be sent to a rehab facility so that you do not put your loved ones thru this. Dr. Pardington is an excellent Neurosurgeon. He’s performed 2 surgeries on me ., I.e., cervical spinal stenosis and a lumbar fusion. He’s a really caring doctor, takes his time explaining the procedure and I have been completely satisfied with his personal & professional manner.

In a nutshell, my right leg started having sever enough pain I could barely walk. I had surgery 2 2019 with dr. P. I was still in pain following the surgery and dr P was convinced it was my hip. Moved to Miami and had surgery 8/14/2020. 7 hour surgery to “release” pinched nerves in various locations on lumbar, and add spacer. Today, slightly tingly, to be expected 6 days after surgery. No considerable pain. I think dr P does the same basic procedures on most of his patients. Never had a cat scan or nerve testing done with Dr P. It was those two tests that isolated numerous nerve issues.

Dr. Partington operated on me 24 years ago for an Chiari malformation and pretty much gave me back my life! After 5 years and many many doctors, he knew how to help me as soon as he looked at it!!

Dr. Partington is one of the best doctors to work with and truly a wonderful person. We've been working with Dr. Partington for years and he has given us the best professional, and personal service. If you are in pain and you're looking for relief, than Dr. Partington will help you. He really cares about his patients.

I went from one surgeon to another from the time I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis in 2006. When my family doctor sent me to Dr. Partington, I knew instantly I had finally come to the right place and a surgeon who would indeed help me. Dr. Partington performed a spinal fusion on me in September 2017. He changed my life. An extremely skilled surgeon, Dr. Partington is also one of the kindest, most caring professionals you will ever meet. His nurse assistant Dina is top notch as well!

This is a Doctor that is best at what he does. If god forbid my children needed a Neurosurgeon this would be my only call. He makes you feel safe when you are at your worst. I am walking today because of this Doctor.

I am so happy my primary recommended Dr. Partington!!! He is the best! His bedside manner and explanation of each detail is beyond anything I expected. Most Specialist don't take their time to make sure patients understand - Dr. Partington is like a school teacher; you will know each and every step. His office staff - all I can say is these ladies are the crowning jewels to hospital crown. I would recommend this doctor to anyone who wants the presidential treatment. Dr. Partington saved my dad's life in October. He had an extreme brain bleed, and is now speaking well, eating, and even beginning to walk again. He has amazing skill and talent. He is realistic and tells you honestly what is happening. I'm forever thankful and grateful he was in the ER the day my dad was brought in.

Dr. Partington is one of the BEST doctors I've encountered. He takes his time to ensure everything he says is understood and shows you excatly what he's going to do. His staff, all I can say is Judith and the other ladies are rare jewels! I have called several times since I surgery and ALWAYS recieved OUTSTANDING professional service.

What an outstanding doctor, he performed my surgery in 1993. Your hands are blessed.

Absolute first class; a true professional at the top of his field. He performed a 3-level cervical fusion last summer and I am back to 100%, amazingly without any loss of range of motion. He was the definition of thorough and detailed, and was a pleasure to deal with. Dr. Partington has my highest recommendation.

in my opinion he halfway listens to what you have to say about your health and what is going on with you he does the surgery and if you still have issues from the surgery he doesn't want to follow you he will toss you over to pain management or an orthopedic Physician his attitude is I've done the surgery and I did it correctly so there's nothing else I can do to help you

I wouldn't recommend him to anyone I feel like all he wants to do is surgery get his money then he is done with you he doesn't want to do appropriate follow-up and he does not want to treat you if you're still having any type of pain past your surgery when he comes in to see me I am lucky if I get one minute of his time he did my surgery how can he know what is going on with me if he doesn't spend the appropriate amount of time with me he doesn't care now he wants to just toss me to another Dr

Dr. Partington is the best!! He made me feel like he sincerely cared about my problem and that he would fix it. He was recommended to me by another Dr. who told me that she would not let anyone but Dr. Partington operate on her. He did a terrific job!
