This was my son’s first visit and the hygienist was so awesome with him!

Everyone is happy and professional. My yearly appointment went smoothly and fast. My hygienist was excellent! Office very clean.

100%! Best place for kind, attentive, and caring staff and dentists! I used to hate going to the dentist, but now I feel comfortable and at ease. Thank you to Southern Shores for going above and beyond to make us feel like family.

Dr. Cleary fully explained all options concerning extractions. He competently answered all my questions. Lindsay was congenial, and enthusiastically engaged in conversation that made an otherwise uneventful consult entertaining. She set my appointment with the oral surgeon, and then reviewed treatment plans and costs. Great atmosphere with the highest degree of professionalism. I wholeheartedly recommend this practice for anyone needing or seeking a dental practice!

Great with kids!

Dr Clarey fit me in at the last minute. He explained in detail where he thought the jaw pain was coming from and suggested treatment. Very happy with this practice for the last 4 years.

I called Southern Shores Dental today to reschedule my appointment. I was rudely told that “We’ll wave the $50 reschedule fee this time, but we need you to cancel your appointment at least 48 hours in advance.” This office is a complete joke, and overly priced. Today is Monday, and 48 hours in advance would have been Sunday! This is not the first time that the front staff has been rude or smarted off at me. I work in a doctors office myself, and it’s all about delivery and the way you speak to people. Every office has policies and procedures, but life happens and people have to cancel, and reschedule their appointments all of the time. I can honestly see if I was a “No Show”, but I called to RESCHEDULE!! I won’t be back here, nor will I recommend this office to anyone. Go somewhere else! I called Southern Shores Dental today to reschedule my appointment. I can not express the thorough care given at this office!! I was told I needed dental work done that did not exist from my previous dentist. I also have two children who needed wisdom teeth extracted that our prior dentist never mentioned that was already causing issues.

Not happy right now. My daughter went there recently for an exam and needed 2 small fillings. She had to go back twice because they would not do them both on the same day??????? She had Dr. Hartley. The first one was fine. The second was not done properly and she has been in pain for several days. She went back earlier today and saw Dr. Cleary who had to file down the filling because the job was not done properly the first time. I thought that making sure that bite was balanced was part of doing the job correctly?? To top it off, they wanted to charge her for going back today to fix what Dr. Hartley did wrong in the first place. Charge us for fixing a lousy job...are you kidding? Fortunately, Dr. Cleary stepped in and told the lady not to charge us. I have a friend who was in Dr. Hartley's chair for 3 hours to extract a very small tooth...THREE HOURS!! As a first time patient, I saw Crystal and Dr. Hartley. I hadn't been to a dentist in many years, so I feared the worst. Both ladies were so nice and good at their jobs that the appointment was over before I knew it. Recommend Southern Shores Dental: yes.

I highly recommend scheduling your cleaning with hygienist Kristina, RDH. She is the absolute best at her profession. She was very kind, gentle and thoughtful. Had my first visit at Southern Shores Dental today. Crystal was great and provided one of the most relaxing and pain free cleanings I have ever had. Dr. Hartley took time after the cleaning to go over the xrays and develop a plan for future treatment. A great team provided a great experience for a new patient.

I am so thankful I found this dental office! I haven’t been to the dentist in 5 years, and had a filling fall out. My appointment was an emergency, and they were able to get me in quickly. I had a cleaning and X-rays with Crystal, my hygienist. She was very gentle and did a great job. She gave me advice and made me feel very comfortable. I needed the X-rays prior to addressing my issue with the filling that fell out. Dr. Hartley did my exam, and she was just as fabulous. She explained that the filling would need to be done in an assistants chair, and actually squeezed me in during her lunch break. Fast, friendly service! I called them on Wednesday at 4 pm for a broken tooth, Joci was able to schedule me at 6:45pm the same day. I couldn't believe they were able to fit me in so quickly as other dentists were offering me times two weeks out. Amy took x-rays and Dr. Smith offered to fix my tooth the same night. I'm super anxious about dental work, but Dr. Smith was able to calm me down and explain the entire procedure to put me at ease. He really made me feel in control of the entire process and was very gentle and kind throughout the procedure. All and all, the entire process took 4 hours to set the appointment, have a consultation and x-rays, and have my tooth completely fixed. Seriously, the best experience I've ever had at the dentist! I never leave with pain of any kind like I have at other dentists in the past. His staff member Amy was wonderful and helped set my mind at ease before my last 3.5 hour appointment to prep for crowns. Our family cannot be more thankful for this practice! We walked in on a Saturday morning from issues with another practice. We were treated like family and seen immediately. The staff, assistants, and dentist were professional and so kind. I recommend this practice to everyone!!!

I was never afraid of the dentist as a kid until I was forced to leave southern shores dental due to insurance. Every other dentist In South Carolina I’ve been to did stuff to my teeth without my permission, Even going as far as asking my parents if they could put sensitivity medication in my teeth after I told them I didn’t need or want it. after many physically painful & dishonest visits to other places, now I’m terrified, but returning back to a dentist I trust *which is this one obviously*. They were very comforting and honest, even let me see the xrays unlike my other past dentists. also told me things I was never notified of before from my scan result, like I only developed three wisdom teeth, and have dilaceration of two of my roots. *very interesting* (*'▽'*) I was also offered an earlier appointment, but I’m not finished with my antibiotics so I had to decline, but it’s nice to know they do that here. I do not like a dentist, they hurt you with needles and the loud tools they use to make you hurt even more after you leave. But, I now go to Southern Shores Dental. They the coolest bunch of people i have ever meet in a dentist office. They make you feel comfortable from the time you call to make a appt to the day you walk in the office. I am very nervous about the dentist until i meet Lindsay, Tammy, Deanna and the coolest dentist Dr Hartley. They made me feel comfortable at the three visits i had in the past month. My husband and I moved from Charlotte in 2019. When It was time to schedule our bi annual dental exam we did a lot of research, looked at reviews and then chose Southern Shores. So glad we did. From the moment we opened up the front door and walked in we were greeted and treated very nicely. They really took time to show us the office and then ended the tour with a gift! Very unexpected. We moved onto the dental Cleaning and exam. Hygienist Crystal was phenomenal. She took her time to explain everything and was very gentle during the cleaning process. We received a great cleaning- with state of the art equipment. I highly recommend Southern Shores for your next dental visit. They really seem to care about us which was greatly appreciated. When I was advised my treatment plan would cost 1k, I told them I would locate an in-network location through my insurance provider. I love the hygienist's, they're all polite and kind (and offer blankets on request) but fixing teeth is expensive and your out of-network. No biggie, it happens, right? When I just called to have a copy of my X-Ray's sent over to the in-network location I found, I was told that Southern Shores would not release them until my insurance paid for them. FYI...this is illegal. Southern Shores, please ensure you read and review the below information I located for you from the South Carolina Board of Dentistry. "Copies of patient records and/or x-rays, or summaries thereof, must be made available to the patient and/or new dentist upon submission of a written release authorization, in a reasonable manner and upon reasonable costs associated with providing such record. This obligation exists whether or not the patient’s account is paid in full." Please educate ALL of your staff on these laws. Luckily, my new dental office associate was kind enough to call your staff and get a copy of the X-Ray's your associate refused to release to me. Whomever Jessica is, she provided these records, but please advise Ms. Betty ASAP. I am so disappointed, I truly enjoyed coming here but as soon as I mention I needed to leave for expense reasons, all kindness and respect flies out the door? Nice. For the most part, I was pleased with my visit. I was welcomed before even walking fully through the door. Everyone was friendly. Unfortunately I don’t see myself coming back. I work at a dental office myself so I have pretty good insurance. The cleaning here was overpriced. Especially when you do your research and look up the cost of regular cleanings. Also, I had to pay $40 out of pocket before walking out for fluoride. Never once in my 25 years have I had to pay for fluoride. That’s not even the main reason why I’m writing this review. My appointment was at 6pm. I arrived a little before 5:30. I did not leave until 8pm. For having no cavities or any perio issues my visit should not have been that long. Also, just by experience of working in a dental office, not once did I witness the doctor or hygienist wash or sanitize their hands. That’s suppose to be the first and last thing you do. Well I have a thousand words and more to express how absolutely grateful and indebted to Southern Shore Dental I am, specifically Dr Hartley. She has truly given me something to smile, grin, and cheese about. With the many years of putting my own health aside to run a household with five children and an overachieving husband, my teeth were at their worst. I came into Southern Shores after a pain infected abscess that left me teary eyed, swollen face, and at the mercy of Southern Shores. Not only were they empathetic to my pain, but they were no-nonsense in finding me a treatment plan that worked for both my ever changing wallet and schedule. Today I can say four visits later that I am very pleased with my results and even though there is much more work to be done I wouldn't want anyone else handling my care other than Southern Shores. I've been so pleased with my experience at Southern Shores. They worked me in the same day when I called with a complaint of pain and made sure I understood and was comfortable with my plan of treatment before any work was completed. I’m so glad I did because Dr. Jon Smith and Dr. Caroline Hartley operate a top notch dental practice from the moment you walk in the front door, their front desk team greets you with open arms and are so friendly and helpful, and know you by name. There where emergency appointment. X-ray showed abses in root canal, Doctor sent my wife home with prescribed penicillin and pain releave. After sleepless night in terrible pain she showed up first thing in the morning bagging for opening of the canal to ease the pressure. Doctor refused to do it, gave her a shot to block the pain, and ask to come back afternoon. Shot did not work, she was crying asking for opening. The answer was - "we can't do it you have to wait". We went to another dentist, and they had to use the mask now, the pain was so terrible. Another dentist spent 15 minutes to open abses. Relief. Why Doctor didn't open the canal on the first day when he new there will be so much pain? There where emergency appointment. I would advise to check on pricing before all procedures/cleaning as their prices are very high if your insurance does not cover 100%. Great staff and service otherwise

I have been a patient with Dr. Smith for over 10 years. He is fantastic. My entire family goes to Southern Shores Dental now. We are so pleased with their staff, knowledge and service.

Me, my husband, and now my 7 year old son LOVE Dr Smith and his staff! Everyone in his office is friendly and welcoming and make us feel like family. Going to the dentist can be stressful but these wonderful people make it as comforting as they possibly can. Would recommend to anyone!

My husband and I are new to the Lexington area and we were looking for a good dentist to go since we havent had very good experiences in the past. Well, turns out.. Dr. Jon Smith's office blew us away. Such a nice/caring staff. They give you a quick tour before you start your appointment and you also get some goodies before you leave if youre a first time patient! And Dr. Jon is super charismatic and friendly.
