I appreciate dr Whittaker’s attitude, he reads medical notes n prepared to listen, explain or suggest concern to resolution It’s hard to find a medical doctor that will hear patient concerns then quickly get you the tests, lab work or outsourced to specialist, I find office staff polite and have no Problem recommending his practise to others n simply say ty for having me as your patient

It's hard to compete with the compliments Dr J. Whittaker has already received in these reviews I've read, I'd only be parroting those already mentioned. I started seeing him ten years ago when I lived just over the border from Pocomoke in Virginia. He is sincerely interested in his patients needs, takes time to listen, gives stellar advice. He is open to alternative treatments and supplements. He never pushes a prescription and if he suggests one he goes over it in detail. I miss him, I want him to keep practicing, he was born to be a doctor; he cares about his patients and remembers the details. I miss him. I miss his wife who was in his office in the early days, I miss the staff that he had during the first years I started to see him. As a child my mom took us to the same doctor for decades because, like Dr. Whit, Dr. Rothman was also a compassionate doctor. So rare to find someone like Dr. Whittaker. I have been going to Dr. Whittaker for 20 years. He is a Wonderful and caring Dr. I heard he is leaving Atlantic General, and August 27th is his last day there. Does anyone know if he retiring or going on his own near by. He knows me and my health issues. He is great to talk to if you have a problem and sits and listen and gives great advice. My husband and I have been with Dr. Whittaker for over 20 years. We feel abandoned now that he is leaving Pocomoke again. He is a very good doctor. Takes the time with his patients to understand what they need regarding their health. We could go to the office and talk to him on a personal level. He always did what was necessary to to get further treatment for us if we needed it. I just don't know what we're going to do. It will be hard to find another doctor to trust like him. Love him and his family. He saved my mother's life. Dr. John D Whittaker is the best doctor hands down. He has also been our family doctor for over 16 years.

I have been with Dr Whittaker for over 20 yrs and I will stay with him until the day I die. I'm 66 yrs old and in all my yrs on earth I have never had or seen a Dr so attentive to his patients. He knows my entire medical history and that is a rare find in the Dr's today. He takes the time to listen and puts his patients before the financial gain. Dr. Whittaker has always been an excellent doctor, very caring, with a great bedside manner, he sends you to where ever else you need to go and don't send you to unnecessary places just to help out other doctors, some do, he also makes sure you have the the prescriptions with the most reasonable prices, he has been my doctor for what seems like forever and now seems like he disappeared without any explanation, where ever he is I wish him and his wife and his practice the best .

Dr. Whittaker is the best doctor! He cares about his patients and wants to help them all. You may have to wait an hour to see him. But you'll get the same attention when he comes in to see you!

I have been seeing Dr. Whittaker since he came to Pocomoke . He takes the time to review your chart and asks questions concerning how you are. None of this rush, rush, rush like so many today. He really wants to know any concerns you are having. He takes the time necessary for each and everyone of his patients. I wish we could clone him.

Best doctor ever. He truly cares about his patients.

Great doctor Taking to dr W is like talking to your brother. He takes time to listen to you, explains what’s going on and tells it like he sees it. Was patient for over 20 years and moved out of state. Have yet to find a new primary doctor of his caliber in new area. Office staff very professional and friendly even on hectic days when he is booked solid which is most of the time because he is such a good doctor. Would recommend him to everyone. Was a very good doctor until he decided to drop me as a patient because I hadn't been to see him in a year, that's what I was told by the staff, now that I need to see a doctor they won't take me as a patient. Guess it's my fault for being healthy for a full year.

Very bad experience. We stopped going and our neighbors had trouble I would not recommend this Doctor. not because of him. Its his hateful arrogant manipulative dramatic wife (That does not tell the truth) She runs the office out front. Your not going past her to get to Hubby if she doesn't want you to. & will not check anything with him. She just does what she wants with your Medical Health. Ya really want that? The nurse's would and office help continually complained about her to the patents! . Just a very bad experience You should really stay away & avoid the bad experience. But its up to you. He understands what he practices....unlike tlc...the don't understand just how bad degenerative disc disease is....he did....and I'm sorry for being released....never find another doctor like him

I absolutely Love Dr. Whittaker. I travel the 35 minute drive because I do not want to change doctors. He is not my doctor, but my children's doctor. I have been taking my oldest son for about 9 years and he has been my youngest son's doctor since birth 8 years ago. They absolutely love coming to see Dr. Whittaker. At times, the wait can be long but that is because he takes his time with each patient and listens to whatever concerns you may have as well as follows up on them. I have had no problem with his staff and he makes his hours convenient so the kids do not have to miss school. His staff has also worked with me on billing! I sincerely recommend this Doctor to anyone in need of a good one. Just be mindful that he treats every patient as an important one so have some patience when coming to the office. A very bad experience. His wife that runs the nurses, office help, front window & Dr. Whittaker. She is the problem. (She does not tell the truth so be careful) & been known to create drama even the nurses and office help would complain to the patients. Really the star is for doctor Whittaker, Shes a mess.

Dr. Whittaker has been my Dr for over 13 yrs. And because of a botched surgery before I was his patient it has caused several health issues that constant testing and seeing specialist are necessary. Dr. Whittaker takes his time explaining everything to me and never rushed making sure all questions are answered and I feel like I am the only patient he is worried about. I may have to wait but I know I am being seen by a caring human not a Dr that had you in and out blindsiding you with a big bill!

I have been a patient of Dr. Whittaker's for about 10 years. He is a wonderful doctor who really cares about his patients. He takes the time to listen to his patients and examine them thoroughly. His staff has always been kind to me. I have never had any problems with anyone there. Yes, there is a wait there to be seen, but it is worth it to be seen by a doctor that I trust. The wait is because he takes his time with his patients to make sure they get the care they deserve. I recommend him to everyone!! And to add, no, he doesn't just hand out pain meds to everyone. Not sure if the previous reviewer was just bitter because they got released. I have been a patient for 8 years. Dr. Whittaker's staff is very professional and polite. The only reason I know of Doc releasing a patient is because the patient failed to show for appointments. Doc does NOT give out pain meds just to anyone. I have chronic sciatica. If anyone has had that knows it is very painful. I have passed kidney stones and would rather pass a stone than have a severe episode of sciatica! Doc will only issue pain meds after he has seen me and does a complete exam. As far as the wait time, the reviewer was correct that I have had to wait as long as 2 ½ hours. But on the other hand when I am in the room with Dr. Whittaker I do not feel he is rushed or in a hurry. He spends QUALITY time with each patient. I also agree with the reviewer that the office did run better before his wife took over as office manager thus the reason for only rating him Very Good not Excellent. If I were to rate him as a doctor alone he would be Excellent, but you need to take his staff in consideration as well. Not sure if the previous reviewer was just bitter because they got released.
