The physician appears Competent and takes his time to explain about any diagnosis and treatment plans, however his nurse is very kurt and not personable, When I called to follow up on a return visit for my husband she appeared judgemental and unconcerned. Quickly got off the phone not identifying herself upon being asked to assist me by Annette in the office, however I had experienced her attitude in the office and was familiar with who she was. Nurses are supposed to be patient advocates and caring is st the core of our profession. And should have been concerned that a patient's care had been compromised. Great Doctor. Makes me feel very coy discussing issues.

Although Dr. Upshaw Jr. may be a good Dr., his NP is rude and does not return calls. I had a problem following surgery and had to go through my primary care physician to get a return call. Twice, I called Dr. Upshaw to complain of side effects of a medication, which he dismissed. No coincidence, but when I stopped taking the medication, the pain in my testicles stopped; as well as the following: headaches, dizziness; feeling light-headed; and, balance issues. I will find another Urologist.
