Very polite, kind and listened attentively. Provided honest feedback.

Dr. Starr met with me to discuss possible surgery. He is exceptionally learned in his field and that was clear in our conversation. He was frank in his description of a complicated procedure and equally honest regarding recovery. He also reassured me that this procedure is his most-often performed procedure which made me feel completely comfortable under his care. It was an honest, pleasant, and very reassuring consultation, the best part of which was that he spoke in laymen’s terms to be certain that I had a complete understanding of everything he said. Clearly this is an exceptionally competent surgeon as well as a delightful gentleman.

Although I was running approximately 20 minutes late for my appointment with Dr. Starr and anticipated that due to my tardiness I would need to wait for a later opening, I was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Starr saw me within 5 minutes of my arrival and instead of rushing me out the door in order to see his next patient, he spent at least 45 minutes with me discussing my medical options. This is unheard of in the Medical Profession as typically the patient would be "penalized" for his/her tardiness and made to wait for a long period of time prior to being seen by the physician. This was not the case. I find that Dr. Starr and his PA, Caroline are genuinely concerned about whatever ails you and are extremely qualified to resolve those issues. I definitely would give them a 10 "Starr" rating if that was an option.

It is evident that Dr Starr has extensive experience He reviewed my imaging with me and articulated all of my options. His manner is friendly and professional.

Every visit to Dr. Starr is informative, problem-solving and professional. I have never been disappointed and don't expect to be! A great doctor. Recommend highly!

Dr Starr spent a great deal of time listening to me and helping me understand my options around making a more educated decision regarding my current problems with my back and walking. Dr. Star explained my situation thoroughly. He discussed the pros and cons of possible options. I found him to be outstanding in every way. I recommend him highly.

I had fallen and needed to see him. They made room for me to have x-rays to see Dr Starr the next morning. It can’t get much better than that. I have had nothing but great experiences with him.

Dr. Starr always gives a patient a lot of time and explains everything thoroughly.

I have visited Dr. Starr several times for advice on different things. I was and still am impressed with his punctuality, office/bedside manner, offers explanations to whatever questions asked and in my case, surgically removed the herniated discs in my neck, added bone where needed, and put in a plate and 2 screws to insure stability. I awoke with no pain, and continue to be pain free. Spent the night in the hospital, due to my age, but enjoying freedom of movement, and a scar so small, you cannot see it in the crease of my neck. Dr. Starr is a kind man and gentlemanly doctor who has been patient in explaining any issues and thorough in his examinations during my visits for routine, preventive maintenance. He clearly delights in his work and enjoys serving his patients. With several physicians in my own family I appreciate a good one.

Dr. Starr is caring, took time to explain options that I have regarding my back pain. A very good visit.

As typical, the doctor was on time, gave me the time I needed to address my concerns. Also, the practice itself continues to be extremely efficient even in the face of covid. Highly recommended.

Dr. Starr is skilled, professional, attentive, and kind. Truly superb.

Dr Starr took the time to thoroughly understand both my wife and my back issues. He answered all of our questions and then discussed our options to improve upon them.

Dr. Starr performed a third back surgery for me in late June 2020. He did not perform the first two surgeries. They were done by the Virginia Spine Institute. They damaged my S-1 nerve during the first surgery. I visited Dr. Starr before the first surgery for a second opinion and I failed to use him, Everyday of my life I regret that decision because I live with constant pain now. Dr. Starr fit me into his schedule even though he was fully booked. He was very kind, explained my problem and gave me a prescription. The office staff was as usual very nice and efficient.

I had a laminectomy by "Dr" Starr. He had me back in emergency surgery a month later. Could never get the answer, but I believe a bone fragment was left in the L5 nerve root area, because the pain started, while in the hospital for that first surgery, and led to a pain so severe that when I went to my pain management Dr, he told me to immediately get to the surgeon. Then, so much bone was removed, it weakened the spine and shifting started. That required fusion. I found out too late, from another surgeon, that he had to fix several of Starr's mistakes.

Excellent doctor, kind, caring and takes time to discuss concerns with patients. Polite and professional staff.

Dr. Starr is a fabulous surgeon who finds options besides surgery as a first step. Complete and in depth consultation with excellent results! I cannot say enough about what a great doctor Dr. Starr is with incredible personality

He was very good at explaining the causes of my symptoms. He was good at listening to me.

Dr. Starr is an affable no nonsense surgeon who explains everything clearly and precisely while concurrently accommodating and answering all of the patient's questions.

Dr Starr was amazing. Pleasant personality, he listened and mostly he knows all about spine. I could not have asked for more.

This was my first visit to Dr. Starr. I was impressed by his friendly demeanor and engaging manner. He explained his initial findings clearly and was open to my questions. I am very pleased that he is the spine specialist I chose to see. I look forward to my return visit to discuss the results of the MRI he prescribed.
