He was very brusk and borderline rude during both of my appointments. He seemed irritated that my primary care doctor had ordered an MRI for a torn meniscus. When his proposed plan of treatment (a shot of cortisone, 4 per year, apparently until I'd be ready for a knee replacement) gave me only at most 2 days of mild relief, he referred me to someone else to do arthroscopic knee surgery. This seemed odd to me as he is a knee specialist. I think he prefers to do knee replacements. I was happy to go elsewhere. I do not recommend him.

Dr. Schnars was recommended to me from several friends for my knee pain. My 1st visit was in June 2021 and he diagnosed me with osteoarthritis. I received the cortisone shot and Mobic. However, by November the knee pain was getting worse. Even the 2nd cortisone shot didn't last but a week and the Mobic quit working altogether. On Monday, the 13th, I spoke with his nurse A who didn't seem to want to help much. I advised the shots, Mobic, Tylenol, heating pad, ice and the creams wasn't working. She said she would send him a message. She called back and told me to take 800mg Ibuprofen. I did and it didn't touch the pain. On Wednesday the 5th, my knee locked and I almost fell. I called their office at 0844 in tears from the pain asking to be seen and try something else. Nurse L called me back at 330ish and said the doctor said i was too obese for surgery , and to go to pain management! I never asked for surgery, but there are other medicines and injections to try and they just totally dismissed me. Their communication was horrible and I don't believe a doctor has ever made me feel like they have made me feel. It was more or less oh well since the cortisone shots and mobic isn't helping, we can't help you! Horrible communication and couldn't care less about me or my pain because im overweight! I have been a patient of Dr. Schnars since 2004. I have nothing but respect for him. I had problems with my knees for a long time. We tried different kind of shots and I ended up with cortisone shots every 3 months on both knees. I waited until I the shots stopped working. I had both knees replaced, right in February 2016 and second one in June 2016. I went to PT and worked very hard at PT. That is the key to a success. I am able to bend my knees completely. The whole key is to do the PT and keep it up. Dr. Schnars has always been honest with me and I think he is a caring and professional Dr.! I have been a patient of Dr. Schnars since 2004. He was rude and condescending. I will not return to see him. I was seeing him to get a reading of an mri on my knee and the language of the “my chart” mri and the doctors interpretation seemed pretty far apart and he accused me of not listening to him. I called him out on it but that sealed the deal for me. Try a line like “How can I help you to understand” instead of “you’re not listening to me”.

Excellent!! Just hope I can wait until my follow up in November. I'm beside myself.

He is a nice guy, but basically gave me no hope whatsoever for knee or the quality of life that I will have. Loosing weight will help me get the knee replacement, maybe, he kind of acted like I was too young for a replacement, but that’s the only thing that will help my unbearable pain. He could literally careless that I’m beyond my pain threshold of pain. Told me to take ibuprofen and ice and heat it. Well, I’ve been doing that and if that help I sure wouldn’t have wasted my time to go see him. Part of my patella (knee cap) is missing, my meniscus is gone, I’m bone to bone, and my knee no longer lines up. I know all of the dang drug addicts have ruined it for those of us who are truly suffering and will have to continue to suffer for as long as we’re on this earth. Well, sometimes the pain and the quality of life is too much beat especially when your dr does nothing and could honestly careless. He could do shots but they won’t help either. Blah blah blah.... I wonder if he was in as much as I am in if he’d be happy to see a dr who totally dismisses you. Don’t waste your time with this dr. Dr. Schnars took time out of his busy schedule to work me in for a nagging shoulder problem. He performed a thorough physical examination, imaging and explained my diagnosis and all treatment options. I am also a surgeon and have high standards for my personal healthcare and highly recommend this orthopedic surgeon to anyone in need.

Saw a doctor at resurgens and they had me scheduled for two surgeries within the month. Went to Dr. Schnars for a second opinion. After extensive exam he recommended physical therapy rather than an operation. That was over three years ago and still no operations. Going to see him next week for something different and expect the same great service. I would recommend him to anyone.

Have already referred a friend who was very pleased . Dr Schnars is excellent at explaining causes and cures, I have always had a positive outcome
