I first met Dr. Piper in 2004 when I had an emergency disc surgery. In 2006, due to degenerative disc disease, I required another surgery on the same disk. I have had chronic pain as a result if nerve damage from the 2004 injury. After seeing a pain management doctor for several years, It was Dr. Piper who encouraged me to get off king term opioids and attempt physical therapy m which over several years has improved my pain. Dr. Piper performed three other spinal/cervical surgeries because of the DDD condition. He is the best surgeon one could ask for. He is highly skilled, remarkably kind, and thoroughly explained all myoptions and the associated risks. He did a fine job with each surgery that resolved each issue. With my cervical fusion, he continued to follow uo with me for 18 months to verify good bone healing. I trust him completely!

Rude....rude.....rude but what do we expect with surgeons? I've had 3 so understand their disposition but are they above us mere mortals? Sure seems like it. I won't step into his or any in that office again. Improve your serve John Piper! My appointment today was more or less him shouting "it will not solve your pain" AND he repeated that 3 times louder each time and I hadn't said a word. He's covering himself and I sooooo understand that. I'm not the type that'll cause a ruckus and always give anyone the benefit of the dout. I don't usually ever write comments (maybe 3 or 4 times ever) but I want Piper to see this and defend himself like he did this afternoon. I'd publicly let him tell his side of what transpired. I excepted it wouldn't help with pain from the 1st visit in July and was ready to sign up for a neck fusion anyway. He recommended it to be done. After his bold loud explanation point (see above 3 times louder and louder) I walked out. I needed to remove myself from "the great healer". Screw him! When do Dr get held accountable for common decency and maybe compassion?????? Rude....rude.....rude but what do we expect with surgeons? Dr. Piper chose to not treat the compartment syndrome that developed during my spinal surgery, resulting in emergency surgeries and the loss of the muscles in my lower right leg. He would not even look at my leg, in spite of my desperate cries for help. The pain would not subside despite excessive doses of morphine. Every sign of CS was evident for days, until my daughter had to demand bringing in a orthopedic surgeon for emergency surgery. Showed up to my appointment a week early. Due to weather and driving distance, they graciously squeezed me in that same day. Great, friendly, highly-knowledgeable nurses. Dr. Piper is highly skilled, thorough, and recommended.

Dr. Piper gets a 5 for his customer service, bed side manner and results of surgery success for my husband. His receptionist, BEVERLY, get a big fat Zero. In my 58 years I have never encountered such poor customer service. Beverly has been rude at every visit and every encounter we have ever had with the office. If this review was based on her lack of care and customer service we would never come back to this office. After a diagnosis of a Pars Fracture I saw three surgeons to get opinions. I had a few issues that made thing difficult for us. I found Dr. Piper was the only one who took time to look at each issue and devise a solution that was the most effective. I can tell you my first thoughts as we started to discuss things were not positive of him. Once I under stood he was already thinking out in front of the conversation. He's a process person and you have to trust him. I glad I did, Thank You.

Dr Piper did a lower back surgery on me just over a year ago. I had fantastic results and very little scaring. Dr Piper has sat and listened to my concerns and addressed every one of them as presented. He is very good at answering questions and taking patient's view points into consideration. I would send any family or friend to him without question.

I think Dr Pipers is a excellent surgeon. I had two surgeries with him and both I recovered well. My scares are barely visible. He does not take recommendations from his patients. I got two other surgeons opinions and they recommended 2 level cervical fusion. I went with Dr.Piper recommendation and only did one. Within 3 months of surgery I was back in pain and had facet block on C7 it was the level that was causing most or maybe all of my pain. I have to now and go back to fix that level.

I felt that Dr. Piper was already on to his next patient when he was with me. He took very little time explaining what was going on and seemed impatient while listening to me. He did not take the time to answer all my questions. I was not impressed and would not refer him to anyone I know.

Went to see him when under work comp, due to neck pain, scapula pain, pain down arms, wrist & hand pain with numbness, tingling & lack of sensation. He was absolutely rude and obnoxious! Interrupted me when I tried to speak or ask a question. Raised his voice at me & my husband when he couldn't sit & be quiet anymore. Chances are some of this may have been because I was there for WC. I wouldn't go see him again if he was the last surgeon available. Btw initial WC hearing came down in my favor.
