Dr. McCarthy never fails to be exactly the doctor I need. His competence and skills are beyond question. His bedside manner is everything it should be. He is realistic and compassionate, and truly cares about his patients.

Very personable, also asking probing questions to determine cause of your issue. Highly recommend.

Excellent doctor

Dr. McCarthy did not tell me what to do when it came to deciding whether to remove the prostate or go thru radiation. He told me the positives and negatives of both procedures and made me read up on both to make the decision. Once I decided and reviewed my decision with him, he agreed based on my conclusion. I learned much more by doing my own research.

The best. Took time to explain and reassure. Ordered PSA retest and got the results back to me the next day. The 1st phlebotomist analyzed the site and called for backup. The 2nd phlebotomist analyzed the jab site for a while then did the stick to draw the blood - 1 and done! So glad there was an environment where this could happen freely and easily. This is a little thing, I know, but indicative of a good cooperative environment with good patient outcome at the center. The results were communicated to me the next day - 2 days sooner than the Dr had promised.

I’ve read all of the earlier reviews. I can’t add anything to the accumulation of well deserved praise. I’m happy that I’m considerably older than Dr. McCarthy, he’ll be around as long as I need him!

Dr. McCarthy listens to my questions and answers completely. He is discreet with a great sense of humor. I feel like he cares about me as a person, not just as a patient.

I have been a patient of Dr. McCarthy since 2003 , he is an EXCELLENT doctor. Dr. McCarthy treated me for kidney cancer in 2004 and in April 2022 for prostate cancer. He answers all your questions and explains all treatments and options for your medical condition.

Have been a patient of Dr. McCarthy since 2006. An extraordinary physician. Treated me for prostrate cancer. My spouse experienced a life threatening situation requiring immediate surgery. When we entered her hospital room, he had left his practice and was there waiting. Had arranged surgical theatre, associate scrubbed and ready. His personal involvement and sense of urgency saved her life. That will never be forgotten.

Dr. McCarthy was knowledgeable and caring. He set up a diagnostic test for further information and called me when he got the results.

Went in for surgery today to have a kidney stone removed. Left without having the procedure completed due to the fact that I made Dr. McCarthy angry. I was told that he would explain what we were doing prior to being taken back. He came in, after I had been there for a few hours (waiting) to say that they were behind schedule. I told him I understood, but, could he help me change the tv channel since it was going to be a longer wait. He obliged and tried to help, with no success. No big deal, he then left. Then, it finally came time for me to go into the OR. I told the nurse, you said he would talk to me before I went back. He came into the room and was very irritated with me. I tried to speak, but, he talked over me. He seemed mad that I asked him to explain again, what was taking place today. His face turned red as he talked over me. I’m an 82 year old women, and definitely did not deserve to be scolded by this man. I did not want him to work on me after that.

He was very knowledgeable, pleasant, empathetic, understanding, good listener and most personable and had a solution for my issues.

Explained everything and took his time

I went to see Dr McCarthy about ED and libido. It took me a while to get up the courage to speak to someone about it. I was given his name by my primary physician. He came into the exam room and asked me why I was there. I told him and tried to explain my hopes. He didn’t want to here what I had to say. When he did allow me to talk, he kept looking at his watch. It appeared he was reading his text messages. I was disappointed with is recommendations but he could have given me them in a more caring way. He looked at his watch a couple more times and ended the visit. I asked if I’d taken too much of his time.

Very friendly, put me at ease. Discussed what he was looking for and why he wanted to do the Cystoscopy. He explained the steps as he and the nurse performed the procedure, reducing my stress.

I’ve been to two other urologists and the cystoscopies were very painful and doctors were cold (stoic). Dr. McCarthy always greets you and asks if there are any concerns and is pleasant, listens and explains things. His cystoscopies are much less painful and afterwards he lets you know what he thinks. Quick, yes, but he has never ever made me feel rushed! I’m 64 so been around the block. I’m also not so easy to please. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. McCarthy to anyone.
