I had my left hip replaced today and was walking with no pain the first day 1-28-20... Yes I have a ways to go but I can tell you Dr. John T. Mays and all the nurses at Willis Knighton Bossier city are AMAZING!!! I had my second hip replaced, my right hip and everything was completely different. My hip was out of socket when I woke up and had to go back into surgery. I am very certain the doctor and the anesthesiologist were both having a bad day. My heart went into a fib, and it was a terrible experience.. My hip is fine now but Having to deal with a fib since the surgery is not a fun thing to deal with. The doctor never came and apologized or gave any reason for what happened to me. I do not recommend being put to sleep going through your spine. I will never do that again.

Excellent experience! Very short wait time! The receptionist at check in was awesome and so friendly. The entire visit was one of the best I have had at a doctor's office. Dr. May listened and explained the diagnosis where it was very understandable!

Dr Mays is always very personable-listens to your concerns and asks questions to make sure he is meeting your needs.

I think he's a great doctor. On my 1st visit with Dr. Mays he looked at my exrays and had me scheduled for hip replacement for 2 weeks later. I didn't question his advice because I had been in agony for a long time.

I would like to say WOW!!! I had my first visit with Dr. Mays just last week so far very impressed I arrived 35 minutes early to fill out paperwork got the paperwork done I was in the room 15 minutes before appointment time x-rays done by appointment time waiting on the doctor about 10 minutes not long at all we talked I got a shot in each shoulder sent me home with some exercises to do. I went there on a Friday by Saturday morning the pain that was in my right shoulder was almost completely gone the pain that was in my left shoulder was gone but I have a bone spur and that one will require a little surgery but so far very very very press by Dr. Mays I really like this guy!!! Just had another visit on February first 2023 all went well. Got shots and ball. Soldiers tired arthritis very painful. Hard to deal with. Got a lot of good help!!!

I just had a scope surgery by Dr mays. I done the injections, physical therapy. And then surgery was scheduled. I am extremely happy with Dr mays. He was very informative to my husband after surgery yesterday and gave us answers we were seeking along with pictures of work that was done and what was found. I highly recommend him as an ortho Dr to anyone with shoulder problems. AMAZING.

Dr. Mays, gave my life back. I've been hit by drunk driver walking across parking lot. I had lived in pain for almost 6 yrs. My other doctor never told me I could have a better quality of life. Told me I was to young for knee replacement. I was in pain shots didnt even last about 45 day. Lived of pain pills it was awful. When a friend recommended Dr Mays, I went and seen him and after seeing my x-rays he immediately told me knee replacement surgery was the best thing I could do. Now with both knee replaced I have my life back! I can't stop thanking God for Dr Mays & his staff. I can run, jump, dance I feel like a kid again!! Thanks For everything Dr Mays and I do mean everything,!!

I came in for a shoulder repair with Dr. Mays. I was scared and nervous because I have never had surgery before. But Dr. Mays and the staff made me very comfortable and then it was over before I knew it started. He did such an awesome job to where even though everyone was telling me how bad the recovery was gonna be (which is one of the reasons I was so nervous) long and painful…they sent me home with 30 pain pills…it is day 5 days after surgery and I have 24 pills left…because I am not having as much pain as they said I would. And the only time I worry about wearing my sling is when I’m sleeping. I want to thank Dr. Mays and his awesome staff!! They were truly God sent!

Great and caring doctor, I have had 2 knees and 1 hip replaced and if I need any other thing done I wouldn't think twice about who to use.

I saw Dr. Mays' PA but he was extremely knowledgeable and helped me on my decision to have me knee replaced. The information given to me was detailed helpful and more than I could imagine. The staff is competent and friendly.

I had my first appointment with Dr Mays and found him to be friendly, understanding and he took time to get to know my issues by having a meaningful conversation. He didn’t just rush in and rush out. He took time to ask questions and explain options.

Dr Mays is clearly an experienced, competent surgeon. He spent quality time with me answering questions and explaining my procedure. He has a wonderful bedside manner!

Had total knee replacement. Dr. Mays uses the newest, cutting edge technique (conformis) that will soon take over the industry, in my opinion. After a 3D MRI of your knee, the new knee is built at the company to fit your bones; all other techniques choose your knee size from 6 sizes, like a pair of shoes, and make adjustments to your bones and the prosthetic during surgery to make it fit. I found an academic journal article that compared the two approaches and Dr. Mays' conformis approach was superior in the results. Seemed like a no-brainer to me. The other reason I chose Dr. mays is that he does 300+ of just this surgery a year. I want someone who's done it many times and seen it all. He has. Finally, he is a great guy, fun as can be, and his right-hand PA, Joe, is fantastic. The only issue is calling in to his staff -- they can be problematic depending on who you get and what the day is, but nothing too bad. Kind of like calling the cable company. PS Dr. Mays talked me out of knee surgery/replacement about ten years ago. He could have had a quick surgery but convinced me to wait, which I was so happy I did. Finally, with bone-on-bone, I needed the replacement, and I an so happy about that now, after just a month. AUGUST 2020 UPDATE: I CAN RUN AGAIN! MY KNEE IS BACK TO NORMAL! Awesome

I hurt my knee on vacation. Joe has taken good care of me. We tried conservative measures first but ended up doing meniscus repair surgery. Everyone we have felt with from person setting up appointments to Dr Mays and Joe are all kind, friendly, sympathetic and caring. One of those clinics where you hope you never have an injury to send you back, but I recommend them to everyone and will not hesitate to go back to them if I need orthopedic care again.

I was referred by my doctor to see Dr Mays concerning a lipoma on my arm. I liked the way that he explained how a lipoma forms. He did not advise surgery, (for which I was glad) told me not to be concerned, measured it and made an appointment to look at it again. I was pleased with the visit and would recommend him to friends.

I can not say enough good things about the service I received. The staff at the orthopedic group were knowledgeable and dedicated to their craft. I will definitely continue to use this facility and their staff.

Dr mays replaced my left knee and he also did my wifes hip, He is a great surgeon i would highly recommend him.

I can’t say enough about Dr. Mays and the staff. They are 1000% wonderful. Very friendly and courteous. Dr. mays did a knee replacement on my left knee and I didn’t even have to think twice about asking him to redo my right knee.

Is a lovely office and the staff are attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend Dr Mays for an orthopedic need. I was concerned when I got there but was soon made comfortable by the staff. He was patient and explained every step… from what he can do to what I can do to help myself.

Doc Mays has been treating me for chronic orthopedic injuries for years. His balanced approach has given me extended use of my natural joints. I got an extra 7 years out of my natural hip!

Dr. Mays was great. He explained everything. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There was no wait time. My appointment was for 9 am and I saw Dr. Mays at 9.

Dr. Mays is great! He explains everything thoroughly & simply. Unlike other doctors I’ve seen surgery isn’t his go-to solution. I’ve seen him for several issues and he’s always quickly found a treatment plan that works for my problem. One example is I broke my big toe in two places while on vacation and the ER doctor insisted that I would need surgery to wire it back together. Dr. Mays said it would heal fine & it did with no issues. Excellent bedside manner and easy to talk to. I recommend him to anyone with an orthopedic problem. If I could give him seven stars I would! I highly recommend Dr John Mays. He is a thorough Dr that doesn’t push surgery or medication. He does what he thinks is best for you. He’s performed 2 surgeries on me and I have full range of motion back.

Dr Mays is wonderful and listens to his patients. He has been my doctor for over 15 years and even after moving to a new city I still drive to his office because I feel he is just the best!

The office staff, the nursing staff, his PA’s, Joe and Darrah, are wonderful with their patients. I have been a patient of Dr Mays for 5 years and my Dad has been a patient for over 10 years. His staff has remained the same for all of this time. In my opinion, that says everything about a physician’s level of care. He treats his patients and staff with respect and genuine care. He is not quick to want to operate which is unusual for a surgeon. He is willing to try all options available first. I have had 3 surgeries with Dr Mays. His surgery skills are the reason I drive 100 miles to see him. He is always using the newest and best surgical technique to get his patients moving as quickly as possible. His patients have a smooth and speedy recovery. Also, the surgery center is one of the best in Northeast Louisiana. Everyone there is great and it has always been a great experience. Follow up on 2nd knee replacement. Dr Mays and staff are always fhe best in are ans making sure you are comfortable as well as well informed every step of the way. I highly recommend their services to anyone who wants the best in care.
