Extremely knowledgeable, conservative in his approach, and very easy to talk to.

Everyone on Dr. Mara’s team are both professional and personable. I have had two surgeries on my hands and the surgery center made it so easy. Beautiful building, bright and clean; everyone seems so happy to be working there. Follow up calls weee made by the office and a aesthetician the next day. Easy to follow pre-op instructions and post op visit was scheduled ahead of time. Highly recommend Dr. Mara!

Dr. Mara and his staff are professional and personable. Dr. Mara listens to your questions, understands your concerns, and is very easy to talk to. I had a finger injury recently and carpal tunnel release surgery previously that Dr. Mara treated with exceptional results. I can't even tell where the incisions were for the carpal tunnel surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Mara.

After a couple of months of elbow pain I saw Dr Mara to make sure it wasn’t something serious. After a very focused exam that pinpointed the pain immediately he assured me it was “Tennis Elbow” and should clear up on its own in a few weeks with the help of an arm band. I was relieved it wasn’t something more serious. Dr. Mara was very personable and I felt very comfortable and confident in his diagnosis. Highly recommend.

Dr. Mara was knowledgeable, professional, & personable. He explained the procedure well & answered all questions. I would recommend him without reservation.

I find everyone in this office to be exceptional helpful and very gracious. They genuinely care about their patients. Dr Mara always offers a full explanation of what is happening and what can be done. He has drawn me pictures showing me what has happened to my wrist which I could understand much better than looking at the exrays. His assistant Betsy never seems annoyed when I call with my many questions regarding paperwork, procedures etc.

Within the first 5 minutes of my visit, I was diagnosed and given my options. I am very excited to get the surgery done on my hand. It was explained step by step as well as recovery time which made it easy to pick the perfect time to schedule.

Dr. Mara has been my go-to Doctor as I get older. I see other specialists in his group also. Their staff give me confidence I am with the best group. I have always been treated with care and the best advice. I have never questioned any treatments as unnecessary. It is very reassuring to know I have gotten the best possible advice and treatment.

I have been suffering with severe osteoarthritis in both hands for several years, so I asked another orthopedic surgeon to recommend a hand surgeon that he himself would use. He recommended Dr. Mara who, to my surprise, was able to see me in a couple of weeks. We met, he reviewed my X-rays and explained in simple terms what options were possible. We agreed to move forward with surgery, which was scheduled for a couple of weeks forward, before I left the office. Dr. Mara was professional and kind. He listened and understood. I had cortisone knee shots at my last appointment with Dr Mara. In my opinion, Dr Mara is exact, gentle, kind, and friendly enough so as to discuss or ask any question you may have. He takes care of my wife’s hand issues including surgery, carpal tunnel, and arthritis. Excellent hand doctor.

I have an arthritic left thumb that has been very bothersome so I went to visit Dr. Mara & he gave me a cortisone injection, unfortunately so far it hasn’t helped! I have a follow-up appointment. I will see what he has to say.

Dr Mara was recommended by Dr O'Brien when he was still practicing and his recommendations never fail. I had a good visit on Nov 5th and have had thumb surgery years ago which went flawless. I expect my finger surgery will be the same next month.

After seeing 2 other doctors, I saw Dr Mara for problems I was having with both hands. Dr Mara listened to me, explains things well & made sure I didn’t leave his office without having all my questions answered; and, I finally had a diagnosis. From there we had a plan to help solve my issues. I highly recommend Dr John Mara, he is attentive, smart and kind. He & his staff are very welcoming,

Dr Mara replaced the CMC joint on my left hand. His pre-op pain management was terrible. His post-op pain management was even worse. His PA is incompetent. He does not listen to his patients or the specialists he sends his patients to. The hand therapist he sent me to warned his that I was developing CRPS and he ignored her requests for pain medication so I could proceed with therapy. Due to this I am now permanently disabled, I have lost the use of my hand and my career. He discharged me to work 2 days after another surgeon diagnosed me with CRPS. 2 doctors confirmed the diagnosis within minutes of seeing me. Mara saw me for 8 months and despite my complaints of chronic pain and obvious swelling he ignored his hand therapist's diagnosis. If my condition had been treated promptly it might have been cured. I have permanent nerve damage in my left hand and the CRPS is moving into my good hand. I will soon be unable to do even the simplest tasks. Stay away from Mara at all costs!

Dr Mara repaired my shoulder a couple of years ago. I found him to be highly competent and professional. I had about 6 months of PT afterwards, and today my shoulder is at about 90%. It's much better than what it was, and I am grateful for his help. Thank you Dr Mara!

Several appointments over 5years and suggested it was time to do the surgery a short explanation of the procedure and I scheduled, the day of the surgery I had faith in the dr. To do what was nesserary. The doc did all the expected work and more. I don't remember meeting with the docter or any conversation after the procedure.i was released without much direction And am scheduled this week to remove the pins.,hoping for more interaction with dr Mara. I'm hoping for good mobility and strength.
