Dr. John Michael Mai

I saw Dr mai for treatment. He prescribed an antibiotic for 90 days. The Dr and everyone at his office refuses to do a preauthorization for my insurance company which only requires an answer to one question. No one will do it! This is not how a doctor should treat his patients. The office keeps telling me they will do it, it's been two weeks, still not done! I have never been treated so poorly by a doctor, ever!!! Do not recommend him at all!

Dr. Mai was my 'second opinion' for treatment for my prostate. I was doing quite poorly, unable to urinate and urgently needing treatment. My bladder was full and had been for many weeks. I was seeking an alternative to a conventional turp procedure, Green Light Laser, After my examination, he told me that my prostate was too large. His recommendation was that the Green Light and Turp procedure would be difficult for him due to the size of my medial lobe, and he suggested and ultimately scheduled Robotic Surgery (which would likely remove most of my prostate). I reluctantly agreed to the procedure, even though it was more than a month away. At no time did he ever suggest that I drain my bladder and insert a catheter. Thankfully, after a couple of days, I changed my mind, and remade an appointment with my third and final Doctor, who God Bless Him, not only drained my bladder and made me use a catheter, but in 2 weeks did a successful Green Light/turp which helped me immensely.

He's very caring, patient and explains everything clearly. A wonderful doctor. His staff is pleasant and friendly.

Dr. John Mai is a great urologist and an excellent surgeon. He advised and guided me through my prostate cancer with skill, insight and kindness. I felt in safe and experienced hands every step of my journey. I am blessed to have found him. His staff are very good too. I always felt relaxed.

This practice looks like a scam. As a private pay client, I was expecting full disclosure and fair pricing for their services. The initial appointment cost $180 for about 7 minutes with Dr. Mai. When I went for a follow-up, I was told that I owed $118 from my prior visit. I paid the $180 balance in full at my initial visit. When I questioned the charge, I was told by the front desk staff to "contact billing." I refused to continue until I knew what I had been charged for previously.

I find Dr. Mai to be professional warm genuine and very thorough professional

Dr Mai is a rockstar. Very generous with his lime and listening.

Dr. Mai is very knowledgable and easy to talk to about subjects that may be difficult for many men to discuss. As a gay man, I was particularly worried that my doctor wouldn't be able to understand the different priorities I might have concerning the side effects of various treatment options for prostate cancer. Dr. Mai was very understanding and seems to be very well connected to all the various options and latest technologies in his field.

He is a very good doctor. He save my life. Its sad rhat his leaving us.
