John Chris Hummel

We are currently under a city mask mandate and the Mercy hospital campus requires masks currently. I saw about 8 staff members in the office and only one staff member wore a mask - not the person at the reception desk, not the person that helps you order glasses, and not even the Doctor who has to get up close to you to look in your retinas. The person that wore the mask was the tech who checked the prescription for my eyes. This person asked me to take my mask off because the nose piece on my mask would not fit on the viewer to check my eyes. When I saw Dr. Hummel, he said I could take my mask off if I wanted and made me feel uncomfortable because I wanted to leave my mask on. I wish I would have known what this office was like before I went there. I don't think I would have come. My husband needed to make his annual eye appointment and I suggested not going during the pandemic or find another doctor.

I had a very bad experience with Dr Hummel. I definitely could not recommend him. He comes across as, not really even wanting to be there. Very unprofessional and uncaring. Maybe he was just having a couple of bad days..?? that’s always a possibility, but I’ll never go back, and would not recommend him to anyone. His staff, however, is very helpful and friendly, which was very much appreciated.

I THOUGHT THAT DR. HUMMEL WAS GREAT AND EXTREMELY GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY EXPERIENCE. THANK-YOU.

I went to se Dr. Hummel for a Lasik consultation. I felt very rushed, and he acted like I was inconveniencing him by asking detailed questions. His attitude towards me made me feel very uneasy about choosing him to do a very important surgery.
