Dr. Hammerstein took great care of my student athlete when he dislocated his knee. We were able to avoid surgery with PT and monitoring. Dr. Hammerstein and his staff called us several times to check in with him. The hospital was great too. The office had onsite x rays, but we also needed to use the hospital for radiology and PT.

Dr. Hammerstein and his staff were very attentive and helpful. I most appreciated the time he took to go into great detail about my son's injury, our options, and what he felt best way to address. I felt informed and good about the decision we made. He was not quick to jump to surgery, he felt there were other options at this time. It was a good experience, I will return.

He was ready to perform spinal surgery on me, but I went for second and third opinions and was told the surgery he wanted to do would be a disaster because he didn't take into account my previous surgery (performed by a different surgeon).

I saw Dr. Hammerstein for general knee pain, he took time to listen and was friendly and caring. His staff was kind and helpful. He recommended physical therapy at this time and explained my knee condition in terms I could understand. I will return as needed and recommend TEAMORTHO.

Today my wife and I logged ten miles. Nearly four years ago today, Dr Hammerstein performed two emergency surgeries precipitated from a systematic MRSA infection which eventually coalesced in my lumbar spine. Dr. Hammerstein helped save my life. I could have died or been left paralyzed but his surgery and care allow me to run and hike more than 2,000 miles a year. I am eternally thankful.

Dr. Hammerstein and Nicole have been great and very patient through the whole process. I have been seeing they for years due to a back injury. They were always available for questions and issues that arose before and during surgery. The surgery went smooth and no unexpected issues or concerns. They have always had a smile and answered every questions truthfully and friendly. It is worth the extra waiting times to meet and work with these outstanding folks!

Dr. Hammerstein and Nicole are very considerate about my medical needs, and especially nurse Brandi. The surgery preformed on c6/7 is a success. I have far less pain than before. We are still working on arthritis and nerve problems. I am confident these will be solved. Thank you Dr. Hammerstein and all of your staff for taking such good care me. You are awesome.

Dr.Hammerstein and his team are the best! The problem with my back was thoroughly checked out with all the necessary tests and review of my history. Everything was explained and I knew what to expect. Surgery was the only option to relieve the pain. I am thankful for his knowledge and kindness.

I suffered on and off for 9 years with back problems. Finally it came to a head, I practically lived in my chair all summer and into the late fall with back problems. A close friend recommended Dr. Hammerstein. He took the time to listen to me about my symptoms and looked closely at my MRI and found the problem. It is 10 weeks post surgery, I walk at least one hour per day and I am on the road to recovery! I have my life back!!! Dr. Hammerstein and staff are wonderful!

I highly recommend Dr. Hammerstein, specializing in neck and spine surgery. When steroid shots were no longer effective for my stenosis, surgery was next. Dr. Hammerstein was personable, obviously very knowledgeable and experienced, and instilled trust immediately with his conservative approach. My 3 level laminectomy immediately relieved the pain and recovery has been continuous and positive. He was available by phone, though at a conference, the one time I had a concern I'd hurt myself.

Dr. Hammerstein is a marvelous surgeon who gives empathy and also hope to me as a spinal/surgical patient. I believe he is very top notch in orthopedic spine surgery and that western Montana is very fortunate to have him. He is personable and caring as well as skilled. He and nurse staff are excellent in the post-operative period. For future reference, I believe that more information could have been provided to me before surgery to help me anticipate recovery pitfalls and self-care needs.

Did a multi-level fusion, C3-4-5, he did an excellent job, great nurse and nurse practitioner , I would recommend him to anybody with back pain

Very laid back, but explained options with realistic expectations and outcomes. He believed he could reduce my pain level from 8-9 to a 2-3. He did as promised. He has an excellent support staff, especially Brandy who makes you feel like family.

Dr Hammerstein was courteous, helpful in explaining diagnosis and options for treatment with discussion of potential risks and likely outcomes. Follow up treatment was excellent. The best part of the experience is that the procedure seems to have been entirely successful. Also, the staff at Northern Rockies Orthopaedics was excellent. I particularly appreciated their clarity regarding potential costs and billings. We didn't have unexpected bills.

I did not want another surgery on my back (had 5 already). But after the x-rays and MRI was done Dr. said that he could help me, but it would take another surgery. He said that if I didn't have the surgery I would have increased pain and maybe loose of some nerve lose and thus not being to to walk right. Dr. wa as very concerned and professional. He did the surgery and I do not have pain in my leg and some of the feelings are coming back!! Its been 6 months since my surgery! Thank You Dr!!

I had disk replacement one year ago. I did not have many options here in missoula. Dr Hammerstein came highly recommended from my GP. I had very little pain after surgery and the scar on my neck looks like a wrinkle. Would send anyone with neck issues to him.

Very caring and compassionate about the outcome of your surgery. Before surgery he took the extra steps in testing to make sure we were targeting the correct problem. I wish more Drs. Had the bedside manners Dr.Hammerstein has.

I have been to see Dr. Hammerstein seven times including my surgery. He has always been very professional and personable. I never felt rushed during an appointment and he took the time to explain everything thoroughly.

i HAVE HAD 3 DIFFERENT DOCTORS FOR BACK SURGERY AND i FEEL DR,.HAMMERSTEIN IS THE BEST. HE HAS GREAT BEDSIDE MANNER AND TAKES TIME TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING.

An outstanding physician & extremely skilled surgeon. Considering the diagnosis from every angle to ensure optimum results, he was especially thorough in every detail of my 2 surgeries and follow up. Seeking to live an active & normal life again is why I sought his help, so I appreciate his policy of treating with limited use of drugs. With his skill & care, I am healing pain free and returning to full function without any drugs. In my experience, he & his entire staff are exceptional!

His diagnostic procedures are thorough. After going to Dr. Hammerstein, I went down to the Bay Area for a couple of second opinions from a neuro-surgeon in San Francisco and the chief of spinal surgery at Stanford. In the end, Dr. Hammerstein was the most thorough in taking the time to correctly diagnose the problem. He is willing to take the time to not over diagnose. Wait time in his office is often long because he does take so much time with the patient. Time well spent.
