Dr. Garcia is an outstanding physician. I surmise being a bronze star recipient and a Gulf War veteran straight out of West Point gave him the confidence, stamina, and most importantly the integrity to make a truly wonderful, compassionate, and honest physician. He is definitely a straight talker who give patients his honest opinion. He will not operate on a patient unless they truly need the surgery which I believe is a rarity. I have the honor of being his patient and I am glad I am. He replaced both of my knees and a hip. I feel great! Thank you Doc!

Dr. Garcia has been an excellent, knowledgeable, and compassionate physician. He has cared for and treated my entire family. We hold his medical expertise in the highest regards. When my mother broke her hip recently, we saw Dr. Garcia. He performs the anterior hip procedure so she had less pain ( he doesn’t cut through the muscle) and had a faster recovery time. She was up and walking the SAME DAY as her surgery ! She also was able to sleep comfortably at home in her own bed that same night. Thank you Dr. Garcia for all that you do. The Santa Fe community loves you!

Total R hip replacement. He was very communicative in my visit with him. His PA took over after that w/communication and extraordinarily nice in explaining all. Follow up to my surgery was EXCELLENT. I have no complaints. I did read one of these reviews and Dr. Garca didn't remember a patient's name -- when a surgeon does on the average of 300 hips a year, what do you expect?

I slipped on ice outside my home and broke my hip in several places. Dr. Garcia comforted me and explained the procedure he would be doing and told me he would do his very best to fix my hip. After surgery and rehab, my hip is as good as new. It’s as if it was never knew broken. I’m able to walk and do all the activities I am used to doing. And all, with NO PAIN. For that, I am eternally grateful to Dr. Garcia.

Dr. Garcia is a rockstar surgeon. I torqued my knee skiing and Dr. Garcia patched me all back together. Back to skiing and enjoying life. Thanks doc!!!

Dr. Garcia concealed or failed to provide crucial information regarding my total hip replacement surgery. I struggled with recovery for a year before he told of the problems with surgery, information that would have been invaluable during recovery.

When I had to call 2 days after my surgery with a problem, Dr Garcia had no idea that he had actually performed my surgery. When he asked who my surgeon was, and I told him that he had performed my knee replacement, I doubt that he was embarrassed or cared that he had made such an insensitive mistake.

I had a total hip replacement with Dr. Garcia. Can't say enough positive things about him and his staff. He communicated everything thoroughly, always asked if I had questions. A couple of friends also had hip replacements done by Dr. Garcia and were also very pleased.

I had bilateral knee replacement almost exactly 5 years ago. Immediately after surgery I had problems with my right knee. Rehab took longer and it was always more painful to walk on. I could not put nearly as much weight on it climbing stairs. The knees were also visibly different to the naked eye. I visited Dr. Garcia and had x-rays taken and was reassured that everything was normal and okay. Finally, I recently went for a second opinion and discovered, with the appropriate angled x-ray, that the patella (knee bone) was attached improperly and that it had been rubbing on my femur as I put weight on the leg climbing stairs or hiking up. This rubbing and pain has been constant from day one! As likeable as Dr. Garcia is, I don't think he was being honest or he isn't skillful enough as a surgeon. PS. My left knee is fantastic and I only wish my right knee was too.

I saw Dr. Garcia two days ago about getting a knee replacement. He was insensitive and talked down to me. Told me the surgery is outpatient. Was very rude. I scheduled surgery with him and changed my mind, won’t go back. He even got my knees mixed up. The one I need surgery and is not the one that’s bone on bone and he said it was.

I have seen Dr. Garcia three times in the last several months. I have had trouble communicating to him my hip issues, such as pain at night, and decreased mobility. I’ve had PT and am still unable to do the things that bring me joy in life. I’m not sure how bad I have to get before he will agree to do hip replacement surgery.

My family member is the third person we know of in a small city like Santa Fe in a short time to have a major infectious complication following a total joint replacement with this surgeon. Having watched how he attended to my family members infected surgical site, with a complete disregard for hand hygiene gloves or even incision site cleansing prior to replacing a dirty dressing, I have many reservations. Now I am fearful for my family members well-being and overall health following a joint replacement likely started it’s infectious process during the initial operation

Have heard good things about Dr. Garcia. Has anyone had a knee replacement with him in say, 2019 or this year and if so how did the procedure and post op rehab go for you? Joint replacement is a big surgery and feedback can be invaluable. Thanks!

Perhaps he's a good surgeon, but not a good person. He does not have good bedside manner. He is insensitive and does not listen. He wouldn't let me finish answering his question because he didn't like the answer. He accused me of yelling when I was just asking him to let me finish answering his question. Then he left the room and refused to come back.

Dr Garcia is an excellent surgeon. I have no hesitation recommending him completely for a total knee replacement. I had surgery about 3 weeks ago. Over all I had a great experience with Dr Garcia and his staff through the whole process. They are very thorough, and opt for a conservative cover all the bases style. I had a lot of fear about Christus hospital in Santa Fe, but the entire staff there was excellent and careful. At Dr Garcia's direction they made sure to provide me with great care.
