Dr. John Charles Friel

Meet Dr Friel today he made me feel so comfortable and answered all of my questions. He explained everything to me about my surgery that I previously had with a different physician 6 months. I left feeling very confident that Dr Friel is going to help me get better. The stuff is also great very pleasant!! Great doctor!!

I had a Wonderful experience with Dr. Friel. I was very nervous and a little self conscience but he made me feel so at ease and relaxed, both in his office and at the surgery. I didn't know what to expect but it was very nice to meet a doctor that has a personality and sense of humor, THANK YOU!!

Dr. Friel is absolutely excellent. He explains all things you need to know prior to any procedure. He is always upbeat and very professional in his approach to patient care. He has been my Colon & Rectal specialist for the last 5 years and every time we interact, I am always impressed with his care for his patients.

Dr. Friel was very professional,thorough,informative,pleasant, As nervous as I was I felt very comfortable and at ease with Dr. Friel. He performed a Rubber Band Ligation of my hemorrhoid and walked me through the whole procedure quickly. I have to say I felt so much better and happy after my appointment. Sara,Dr. Friel's medical assistant was also very pleasant and helpful in that she answered all my questions prior to my meeting with Dr. Friel. Given my situation, they both made it easier.

Could not have asked for a better, nicer doctor! Should have had a colonoscopy years ago, kept putting it off. He understood why, did not give me a sermon. There were many polyps removed and and needed future surgery. He was very friendly, courteous and thorough. Did not rush you in and out, spent time explaining what it would entail. Actually have been back for a follow up because of him. Everything went well this time. Great bedside manner!

I was just plain uncomfortable with the reason to go see him but just as the reviews had mentioned he was very pleasant and professional, if need be in the future I will not hesitate to return and I will most definitely recommend if asked

I was very embarrassed to consult with a rectal doctor, but Dr. Friel made easy for me, and I felt very comfortable to discuss the issue with him. I also had my first colonoscopy with Dr. Friel, and I'm very pleased with the way he took care of me. I definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for a rectal specialist.

2 office visits with Dr Friel went very well. He is easy to talk to & takes the time necessary to fully explain treatments & options. I had a hemoroid ligation procedure done that was quick with minimal pain & discomfort. He diagnosed another condition & said it would heal itself in a short time & it did. Very pleased & would see Dr Friel again without hesitation.

Last year Dr. Friel removed a section of my colon. I was told to expect a hospital stay of 5 to 7 days, and a three to four week recuperation. I was home in two days and back to work in two weeks. I had no complications and was extremely happy with my care from Dr Friel and the staff at SNHMC. Dr. Friel is everything you would want in a doctor: Patient, courteous, friendly, helpful and most of all to me ... available.. I was back to see him last month for a different problem ..Excellent Care!!

Having a surgary is no fun,bur having a great surgeon makes it easier and less stressful

I liked him very much. He is not a doctor who talks down to you. He talks directly to you and makes sure that you understand what he is saying. Would highly recommend him.

Dr Friel has been an outstanding individual during my many bouts with diverticulitis. I have had him by my side over the past 8 years. He has preformed 2 major surgeries once about 4 years ago and just recently with a colostomy reversal. He was by my side all the way. I was unsure about trusting anyone to address issues in my rectal area, at first. After a thorough discussion of the options available to me, and some additional discussion, relative to my visit, I left the procedure knowing I had seen a skilled doctor and would have no problem trusting him to treat me again, should the need arise. Dr.Friel was very professional. Described all options. The lancing procedures he performed on me was quick and easy with very little discomfort. I immediately trusted Dr . Friel and his nurse.

Very thorough and takes the time to explain your problem in terms a normal person can understand. I found him to be very caring and truly concerned about my problem. Dr. Friel was very kind, informative, and thorough during my visits and surgery. I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had many questions and emotions. He took the time to answer my questions and I never felt he was rushing out of the room. He performed a laparoscopic sigmoid resection a week after my initial diagnosis.
