Dr. John + staff are always great.

Dr Dykstra was my dr since I was 19 (now 40). I thought he was good, but now I can see he's really really not. He blows me off and blames anxiety for anything he doesn't understand which is about everything. I do not recommend this office at all. I put up with the bad staff to keep my dr but now my health is way out of wack because it was ignored for so long. If I could give a negative score I would. If you have any issues such as in mental health or need a doctor that specializes in any certain field, I do not recommend this office. I could get more specific on several issues within this office however, I won’t. I will say if you do go to this office get a second opinion for anything specialty. My daughter came to him because she had previously miscarried a baby due to low progesterone levels. She was able to get pregnant again after months of trying. Her progesterone levels were extremely low again and she was spotting. Her midwife told her to get to her primary doctor immediately to be put on progesterone. Her level was 7.4 and he stated he wouldn’t give her any until she was a 5, which is a guaranteed miscarriage. Mercy Health has a No Baby Left Behind program that someone told her about so she called them and they saw her right away. They prescribed progesterone pills and a bi-weekly shot. She is now 19 weeks thanks to Mercy Health. More and more Dr Dykstra has his hand on the door and is ready to leave when you get there. He makes you feel as if he doesn’t have time to help you and brushes off your concerns and questions. We used to love him as he was caring and kind. Not the case so much anymore. He doesn’t seem to look at the patient with the aim to help them anymore.

I try and meet with him once a year and have been seeing him for 3 years now. Every time I attempt to have a routine checkup or if I need to see him for another issue that has come up, he is booked 3-4 months out. His metrohealth page says he is accepting new patients!! When you never have time to see anyone it's easy to take on more patients. He is very brief and quick when he does have the time to meet and seems to rush through and brush my statements and questions off. Would not recommend him to anyone else.

With Dr Dykstra I am willing to go into the doctor BEFORE they have to wheel me in. He’s that good. Linde his PA great too.

Dr Dykstra is an amazing physician! He listens and truly cares about his patients. He is also timely with his schedule! Finding him has been a huge blessing to my medical care!

I cannot express adequately what a wonderful human Dr. Dykstra is. He cares, he listens and he advocates. I have been through a lot the past 3 years. He never fails to do everything he can, and to additionally provide understanding and emotional support. His whole staff is top notch, and it’s always a joy to see all of them. He was amazing with my daughter and calmed her down when she needed stitches and was scared. Best doctor around.

Very disappointed in him. I had heard he was caring and helpful, but when I tried to get an appointment, his nurse informed me that even though I am an MS patient and take an occasional (not habitual) pain med as it helps me to lessen the effects of MS, he will not prescribe pain meds. When I stated puzzlingly, that he doesn't prescribe pain meds for patients? She said that's what his response was. Politics has clearly entered into his practice. I can not say how happy I was with Dr Dykstra and his staff. I was always met with such kindness and felt at ease. It didn't matter if it was just a call, visit, refill or anything else. They are amazing. I have had to move to another state and wish they could all come here. You guys ROCK !!!

Amazing doctor. He sees my kids and I. He never hesitates to order tests if there is even a hint of concern. He is hilarious and takes the time to listen and give feedback. He is very knowledgeable and professional. He has always taken my family’s genetic blood clotting disorder seriously and has done a great job maintaining my complicated pro times. He always treats us like old friends when we see him and makes us feel very comfortable!

Be careful. He's as congenial and funny as can be. We went to Dr. Dykstra for about 15 years and about 4 years ago I had symptom after symptom that all fell under the umbrella of a serious autoimmune disease called Systemic Sclerosis. He never did take us seriously enough and we did end up talking with a director at Spectrum Georgetown and now he's at Metro? This disease has no cure and minimal treatment available.. Our Scleroderma Specialist said we were fortunate to catch it early enough!

He has been my doctor for 7 years. He treats our whole family from infant to adult. He treats us like people and not just another patient. He listens well and is not pushy or rude. He is kind and our kids like him too.

Every time I see Dr Dykstra I feel like he knows means my family. He is down to earth and trusts my instincts. It feels good to be treated like a person and not just a group of numbers.

A very friendly, professional doctor. He has always answered my questions, describes my conditions and treatments to me, and his treatments are effective - I can usually tell a difference immediately.
