We drove three hours to see Dr Bishop and I am so glad we did. The staff was so professional. My son just had his surgery two weeks ago and the recovery is going fast. Awesome staff

First impression, I walked in and the carpet was dirty like it hadn't been vacuumed. Also the white cloth covering one of the machines was very dirty. It looked like it had never been washed and was grabbed in the same spot Everytime with a dirty hand. My daughter has high anxiety when it comes to the dilation drops. She was upset and when he went to look at her eyes with the light she closed them . Instead of communicating that she needs to open her eyes or he will have to hold them open he pulled her top eye lid up, not painful but just uncomfortable. Receptionist is very unprofessional. Speaks in a rude tone and has a very sour attitude towards everyone. Tells me they're the only one that accepts my type of insurance then tells me if I miss the appointment they'll refuse to see my son ever again so "good luck finding someone else". Wosrt doctor office ever. All the employees in that office all have a very bad attitude you can't even ask them a question without being eyerolled and screamed at. We were give a referral to Dr. Bishop who is listed as a provider under our BCBSTX insurance. However he isn't "happy with the contract" he has with BCBSTX and they refuse anyone who has the insurance.

Dr Bishop and his entire staff provide EXCELLENT healthcare. They are the best!!! I am glad my family member was referred to Dr Bishop. Somebody got a new start due to restoration of vision. I am very grateful!

The staff can be more friendly but dr Bishop is the best eye doctor for both of my boys that have a disability and they don’t really like to get checked he makes it fun for them I drive 2:30 hours to see him but it is well worth it!!

I have been seeing Dr. Bishop for over 20yrs and am always happy with the service I receive, he is the only doctor I've seen that is able to work with and understand my eye problems.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable they answer questions and when you need specific clarification they tell you that Dr Bishop will answer the questions. Dr Bishops did my daughters eye surgery’s thoroughly and explained everything clearly. I was so pleased with his care of my daughter.

Dr Bishop is great but his receptionist is the worst she has such a ugly attitude every time i go , she ruins the experience every single time!

I wouldn't know how the doctor is because I didn't get that far to even make an appt. I called to make an appt and they said they need a verbal referral from the pediatrician. My son's pediatrician called them with the verbal referral and now when I tried to make an appt, they said that the pediatrician has to make an appt for me. Due to the fact that they didn't make the appt for me I can't make the appt myself. I asked them why that wasn't handled when they had the pediatrician on the phone, if that is their policy. Her response was "I don't know, there are a lot of people that work here". I told her no one mentioned they had to make the appt for me. She said that is what they "meant" when requesting a verbal referral (has anyone actually heard of that before??). I also asked how would the pediatrician's office know my availability, and her response was "well if you don't like the date/time then call back and reschedule". Seems like they don't want new patients. I wouldn't bother with them if that is how they are before one even steps into their office for the first time. I have been going to Dr. Bishop for the last 4 years, if not longer. I have never had a problem with his staff, and Dr. Bishop is very knowledgeable. If you need a little ice breaker mentioned his hobby of stargazing as he has several photos that he has taken himself throughout the office. The doctor does have a bit of a no nonsense type attitude, but that comes from having to see a lot of patients a day, as the waiting room is always full. If he took his time with everyone he would be there till 9:00pm. Go to the appointment with questions ready. I commute from Brownsville (3 hours) away and the family and I treat it as a mini-vacation. BTW Candice is an absolute sweetheart that works up patients and gets them ready for the doctor. My first time here was not so great. The receptionist was rude. Doctor was in a rush and doesn't seem like he wanted to help us. The Nurse doesn't know what she talking about and gave us fake expressions (they all looked mad but tried to play it off) Lets just say, they were all rude and made us feel really unwanted there.

I just called in reference to my grandson with autism and the person that answered that phone was not compassionate or helpful. I was actually referred to them by another office that was so helpful but didn't take our insurance and referred me to Mr. Bishop office. We drive 3 hours from the RGV to see Dr bishop. The experience we had in the RGV caused us to seek assistance outside the valley and it's worth the trip. Dr Bishop is hands on and takes the time to listen to our concerns and gives us answers.

Was our first time with this Dr. We were there for my son's eye apt. We were seen rather quickly (first visits take a little longer) and the nurses and Dr. were very nice and kid friendly. The doctor was very informative. Glad to have had the opportunity to have been seen by Dr. Bishop and will go back in the future as needed.
