Dr. John P. Batson III

Chronically late! I mean really late. Today after 75 minutes I left. Every appt in the past was also late, as in 30 minutes or so but this one took the cake. Furthermore, it was an unnecessary followup just to ask me on a scale of 1-10 what is my pain level. Easy telephone question if you ask me, but insurance won't pay him for that so...I should have cancelled????

Dr Batson and his lovely staff are doing life changing things in this office. Dr Batson is kind, and serious and I think, very wise. All of his support staff, so kind, so patient. I am so thankful to be pain free after such a long time, is it any wonder that I give them this praise? Thanks for letting me go on ????

I was referred here due to my leg being swollen from the knee down for over a month and no one quite knowing why. Br. Batson's assistant met with me first; he was kind, respectful and asked all of the necessary questions. Prior to coming in, the assistant shared the info with Dr. Batson so I did not have to repeat all of the answers again (love that). Dr. Batson examined me, took x-rays and scheduled an appt to have my knee aspirated and a steroid shot. The morning after the aspiration and shot, Dr. Batson personally called me to find out how I was feeling. I was happy to report the swelling was already down and the pain was gone. Dr. Batson also sent the fluid to the lab. When I went to the follow-up appointment, the lab results indicated I had gout. So thankful Dr. Batson was so thorough. I HIGHLY recommend him and his practice!

Fantastic experience, I came to him with a shoulder injury and the advice he gave me absolutely made my recovery much faster. If you want to heal the right way, go to this guy!!

I can't thank Dr. Batson and his staff enough for all their help. He was very knowledgeable and concerned when dealing with my recent injury. The treatment provided helped tremendously and I was back on the pickle ball court in no time!

What I really appreciate about Dr. Batson is that he's treating me in stages - working on alleviating my lower back pain with a plan. He doesn't rush me through my appointments and he answers any questions I might have. He and his staff also work around my somewhat chaotic work schedule.

I highly recommend Dr. Batson and his team. I visited him for back pain related to my scoliosis, and I was expecting surgery or injections as a recommended remedy. Instead, Dr. Batson evaluated my back and inquired about my daily routines and ended up recommending strengthening exercises and a stand-up desk for work. Both have worked wonders and I am pain-free. I read the other reviews before I wrote about my experience. Maybe I saw him on one of his bad days. I found him to be arrogant and disinterested. He spent less than 5 minutes and his only recommendation was steroid injections which he stated only had a 50/50 chance of helping with my lower back herniated discs. Since that appointment, I have had a primary care physician and a PT to say that they have had other patients who had very similar unsatisfactory experiences with Dr. Batson. I drive over 3 hrs when my back gets me down to see Dr. Batson. Always can find relief with him and his staff. His appointments are always right on schedule and his staff is super friendly. I have been seeing orthopedic doctors for 20 years. Dr Batson is without a doubt the best. He is genuinely interested in fixing your pain and not just with steroids. I started seeing Dr Batson for low back issues after relocating here nearly two years ago. I have had back problems for year resulting from 30 years of military service. I have had steroid shots for the past 10 years. Dr Batson is the first doctor to recommend other alternatives to steroids to included prolotherapy. After just one treatment, I felt significant improvement. Eight months ago I injured my achillies tendon. Diagnosis was moderate tendonitis and an interstitial Achilles tear. After nearly 8 months of being seen by a podiatrist and 3 months of PT, I saw little improvement. I mentioned it to Dr Batson and he suggested I try prolotheraphy on it as well. I have now had 3 treatments and have made significant improvement in healing my Achilles, hopefully now avoiding surgery altogether. Then this past July, I had extensive hand surgery from a prominent hand surgeon in Savannah. I woke up in excruciating pain. When I told the nurse she told me I had just hand surgery and what did I expect? I knew this wasn’t normal but decided to try and push through it. After three days of extreme pain (felt like I had severely burned my hand and someone was rubbing it with sand paper), I called my surgeon’s office. I was told he couldn’t see me but I was welcomed to drive 30 minutes to their urgent care and see a PA. My one week follow-up was with a very disinterested PA. At that point not knowing where else to turn, I called Dr. Batson’s office. They got me an appointment for first thing the next morning. He immediately diagnosed nerve damage. He put me on medication to help manage the nerve pain. After nearly 10 days of no relief, I was finally able to manage the pain. He was very honest and told me it would probably heal albeit very slowly. He was right. I am now 3 months post-op and just starting to feel normal. In no way was my hand his responsibility but he supported me and helped me manage the pain throughout my ordeal. I have absolutely no idea how I would have gotten through these last 3 months without him. He has received “Best in Bluffton” award and rightfully so. I had trigger finger bad and one shot problem solved. I use him for acute spinal pain level that ranges 3 to 12 level to manage it. Great staff from the front desk to the Nurses and Doctors. He da man.

Dr Batson and all his staff are excellent. He is very through, does not rush your appointments and explains all options to treat your problem. All injections are done under X-ray. I would highly recommend him.

I have seen this guy 5 times. I have spent over 9 hours waiting in his lobby, his appointments run 45 to 90 minutes late. He has never done a single thing to help me. I've left there each time, with an order for PT. I will not be back. The last visit, I was bent over and could barely breathe. He poked me and gave me an order for PT. After waiting for him to see me 78 minutes past my appointment time, he offers no apology or excuse. This guy has the God syndrome and is about as caring as a dead fish. I called an orthopedic Dr who has since diagnosed me with osteoarthritis and put me on anti inflammatory and I feel much better. If you have hours to waste, you care not about your care and results don't matter, this is your guy. I only hope he sees this and calls me and allows me to say this to him, in person. He is a very unsympathetic doctor. I recently took my daughter there, since she has two rare back conditions. She is 39 but operates on an eight year old level. I wanted her to get of the medications safely. He did not listen to anything I had to say. She recently lost bladder control and this worried me since this is what happened when she became paralyzed. He made it seem like, there was nothing wrong and made the statement, I can do a MRI, if you insist. He is about as cold as a dead fish. About as uncaring to his patients as can be. I recently had a sports-related injury to my right knee and after a couple of days of ice and compression was still in pain and not seeing the signs of speedy recovery a 71-year-old expects. I contacted Dr Batson's office and the staff was able to get me in within 24 hours. At my age, a lot of docs would encourage giving up windsurfing and biking and taking up shuffleboard or backgammon, but Dr Batson has taken a deliberate and conservative approach to both the pain management and the recovery phase and I'm confident I'll be on the water again in a week or two. Not ever will I take my handicapped daughter to this man again. She suffers from 2 rare back issues. I felt he did not listen, or took my concerns seriously. I wanted to get her of the narcotics safely, without her getting sick. I had to insist on a MRI, she recently lost bladder control. Same thing happened to her before she beca,e paralyzed. He is in the wrong field. Coroner, would be more up his ally.

He is a miracle worker. I had an intense pain of my shoulder, near the area of my clivacal. On my visit to him, an x-ray was taken, and then with a form of x-ray, he was able to perfectly inject the right side of my neck. All of my pain was gone in two days, just as he said it would be. I had been treated by Dr. Batson previousy, but not for that problem. In the meantime I had recolated and had to drive,one way, two hundred and fifty miles for his treatment. It well worth it.

Compassionate staff. Dr. Batson fully explained the steroid injection procedure prior to starting any treatment. Have recommended him to others.

I have been very pleased with Dr. Batson and all of his staff. They are all so kind and helpful. I think Dr. Batson is very proficient in his treatments, and he works meticulously yet gently to make the injection experience as comfortable for the patient as possible. The entire atmosphere of his office is very comfortable. The assistants are kind and helpful. The girls at the front desk are so sweet. I was impressed by my visits to his practice, and it is highly likely that I will return.

Dr Batson has impressed me from my first visit ten years ago. He gives as much time as needed is extremely thorough and precise in explaining the situation and options.In my case I have had great results from epidural injections in my upper discs area. I had foot surgery in Savannah GA and because the foot surgeon gave me pain meds after surgery a year later I go back to him for my back Pain and he denies me any pain medication . He said I got pain medications in too many places , I showed the Nurse a picture of my operation of my foot it was terrible and I was in a wheel chair for 2 months and then I got shingles and a blood clot in the leg.. I don't understand it? was I suppose to go to him for all of it???? And He was going to give me a shot in the wrong nerve in my hand I stopped him just in time and said to him hey! Wrong Nerve! Stop! and when I went to Dr Salzer for the pain he said wrong nerve ???? it wasn't even a nerve causing you the pain. Let me tell you Dr Batson is an amazing doctor. I have been to numerous drs in the past 3 years and he is the FIRST to relieve my pain. The first time he saw me he immediately knew what was wrong with my back. After going to many drs & them saying they didn't really see too much wrong. (My sleepless nights, limited activity, pain medication daily says different.) He gave me one injection in a different area from all the other doctors & within days I am almost completely pain free!!! Can you imagine that....after all these years!
