Dr. John Richard Barbour

I started seeing Dr Barbour when my rheumatologist referred me to him to operate on finger contractures I developed as a result of an autoimmune disease. I knew I was in good hands when Doctor Barbour took the time to explain to me how my contractures developed (something no doctor had been able to do) and how he would fix it, in terms that I was able to understand. Unfortunately as a result of my underlying disease, I had complications from my surgery, and my body struggled to heal itself. When most doctors would’ve given up on me because of my disease, Dr Barbour continued to work with me, using innovative techniques and consulting w other leading physicians to find a solution. Dr Barbour also addressed several other health issues I was struggling with related to my autoimmune condition that I had otherwise not known there was a treatment for. I don’t know if any other doctor has paid so much attention to my medical needs. I truly feel like I’m his only patient sometimes. His staff is also so friendly and helpful. If you are seeing Dr. Barbour for the first time, you can rest assured that you will receive superior medical care and that you are seeing a doctor who truly cares about his patients.

I saw this doctor for an emergency visit after a mouth injury. The office staff was lovely, they fit me in as needed, and the doctor and his assistants were professional and knowledgeable. The office atmosphere itself is beautiful, and the whole experience was fantastic, especially because I was so nervous and worried about my extensive injury.

Dr. Barbour and all staff are absolutely phenomenal! Our daughter cut her finger tip off the day before Halloween. Dr. Barbour repaired it in emergency room and we had follow up appointments at his office for a few months. He always made her feel special each time she went. Always told her how brave she is. They shared dog stories! He absolutely turned this horrific event in her life in a positive way. She cares for him a lot. It’s a scary event for a 7 year old little girl to experience! Her finger looks wonderful too. You can barely tell there was ever any trauma. Top notch surgeon with excellent staff, and a beautiful clean office space!! Thank you for everything Dr. Barbour and team members!! You guys are awesome!!

Dr. Barbour expertly put my hand back together following a significant and complex injury. He was immensely patient and explained everything he was doing, thoroughly answered all my questions no matter how basic, and put me at ease through the entire procedure. I was impressed with his surgical technique, competence, and manner. I was also impressed with his staff during my follow-up visits; Dr. Barbour and his staff were attentive, patient, and genuinely caring. Most importantly, Dr. Barbour's approach and skill ensured I would have full use of my hand, and for that I am most grateful.

Dr. John Barbour, Jaclyn B. and the entire team are second to none! Amazing staff, great bedside manner and excellent results. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I cut my finger tip off completely and they put a plan in place to bring my finger back to life. They have exceeded my expectations!

This guy has a ego way over his expertise. Very poor bedside manner. Do not trust him anywhere near you with a scalpel. STAY AWAY

Wonderful doctor, caring and thoughtful!

Dr. Barbour treated me at ER to stitch up my hand after I had an injury while doing a home project on a Saturday night. He made sure I understood my injury and I felt more at ease after talking to him. He was thorough while giving me aftercare instructions as well which was nice as I had never cared for a wound before. His office staff called me first thing Monday morning to check in on me. I appreciated his care and his team's commitment to making sure I was ok.

Dr Barbour saved my son's hand. He took excellent care of him.

Truly caring doctor- great staff. Came because I was referred to him by the ER at Mount Vernon hospital for a fracture to my hand.

Dr. Barbour is caring and trustworthy. I went to Dr. Barbour after being in a local ER for a hand injury. I was happy to find out that he was in network with my insurance and he was able to fit me in for an appointment quickly.

Dr Barbour is one of a very few peripheral nerve specialist. He has helped me with nerve damage from knee replacement and hip replacement. The replacement surgeries weren’t a failure. I thought they were but I had nerve damage which left me in debilitating pain. He is so kind, caring and skilled surgeon. His staff is tremendous. Dayna and Jaclyn are always there to help. He has truly hired in his own image.

Dr. Barbour did everything he said he would do. I've had his surgery looked at by other professionals in this field and they give 2 thumbs up! I even traveled about 3 hours to see Dr. Barbour and he did everything he could do to help me right from the comfort of my living room after the surgery. I seriously thank the Lord for Dr. Barbour he helped me when others turned me away saying the surgery was too difficult for them.
