Everyone went out of their way to be helpful, the ladies at the front desk made it an easy process to become a new patient, thank you Kelly Lynn. After having back and leg issues most of my adult life it reached the point where I could not walk more than ten feet without having to stop and rest. It was time to get serious and search for a doctor and have this addressed. After meeting with three Orthopedic Surgeons and two Neurosurgeons, Dr. John Afshar was without doubt the doctor who I would be putting my life in his hands. What impressed me the most was he asked if I was ok seeing his partner so they could arrive at a decision of whether to operate on my upper vertebrae or lower back first. Imagine that; a surgeon at the top of his game looking for a second opinion! His bedside manner should be the criteria for which all other doctors to be judged. Dr Afshar is caring, compassionate and friendly. It's like going to see a friend who happens to be a doctor. His office staff is equally professional and his Medical Assistant Diane is what you could only wish for in a medical office. So, your search is over!

Kelly Lynn is a scheduling coordinator and two weeks ago she received my referral to see this physician for an immediate and serious neurological issue however after eight phone calls to two different offices she still will not return my calls to schedule me an appointment. I spoke to someone in the office last week who said they did have my referral and that Kelly Lynn would call me back that evening to schedule an appointment and I still have not heard from her over a week later despite eight voicemails over the last week . I called a different office for a different neurosurgeon and they were able to fit me in within 24 hours even without the referral and then I push the referral through with my primary because of the significant nature of my disability. The doctor needs to be made aware that his staff is completely unreachable and will not answer the phone and takes peoples private healthcare information and says that they will get an appointment and then refuses to call them back. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

This is easy. You cannot find a better Neurosurgeon. Period. Dr Afshar is caring, compassionate and wrote the book on bedside manner. When you go to see Dr Afshar it’s like going to see a friend who happens to practice medicine. Ditto for his Medical Assistant Diane. Imagine being able to reach the Medical Assistant on the first ring of the phone.

I would highly recommend Dr. Afshar to anyone I think he is the best and I say that from personal experience. He has done wonders with my back.

Dr. Afshar is the best Neurosurgeon. Very compassionate, knowledgeable, and helps his patients before, during, and after their surgeries. He performed 2 level artificial disc surgery on me C5-6- C6-7 Cervical surgery. Highly recommend him!! His staff are also wonderful, Diane and Laurie and all his staff. Dr Afshar physically verified how my spine was affecting my body. He was great at explaining everything about what was going on with my spine and show me. I would always recommend Dr Asfar he is the best but, waiting 2 1/2 hours to see him about killed me. I was in so much pain to begin with then the chairs are not the best for that about of waiting. I know they say you must wait for the best but if the type of patients he gets has to wait that long they should be made comfortable. We take meds that require us to have something to drink. As I mentioned the chairs, you could have at least a back pillow that could be wiped down. That was the other thing I never saw the nurse wipe down the blood pressure cuff or the oxmeter. Now unless she did it outside the room. I know for a fact I had to lean on the table and new paper had not been pulled down, you could see where some one had sat. Unfortunately see what happens when someone has so long trapped in a room with nothing to do. LOL

I have already written a few reviews of Dr. Afshar and my surgery hasn't happened yet. Why? Because when you experience great human transactions in your life, I believe you have to speak up. That's my belief system. Dr. Afshar's attention to details, caring presence, highly reliable experience, office team with-it-ness, and the way he approaches your health concerns must be celebrated and acknowledged. Health is a gift and if part of it, it's not functioning properly -for whatever reason- you have to find the best. I am EXTREMELY THANKFUL I was referred to Dr. Afshar because I didn't know anything about him. My advice to you is that if you need a Neurosurgeon stop wondering around and make an appointment and experience what I am trying to express in a few lines in here.

Dr Afshar is a major leaguer. Spinal surgery is risky business and he takes extraordinary time to sit and explain to his patients. He is conservative and uses surgery once everything else has been exhausted. The AMA should boil plate Dr. Afshar ethics upon any and all in the medical profession. Truly a rare commodity.

Consultation with the dr was excellent. He gave me all the time I needed and made sure I understood. The problem was the hour spent waiting in a minimally air conditioned room on a 95F day with no direction/information from the dr’s nurse. Her window was closed and she didn’t care who or how many were waiting.

I am very satisfied with Dr. Afshar’s Professinal opinions. I’m happy he is not just a hatchet jack Dr. who is just in it for the $$$. He in a roundabout way saved my wife’s life by not doing surgery on her and recommending a neurologist that found a tumor that would have killed her in three years for sure. Staff is friendly. Dr. Afshar called my Neurologist and they agreed to go to the ER, while we were waiting in his Office. I would follow Dr. Afshar to do any Neurological Surgery.

Dr Afshar is a very nice man. He tells you the pros and cons of the procedure you are there to discuss. Then he will give you alternatives to consider. He is very thorough.

I went to Dr Afshar in Feb. I barely walked into his office the pain I had everyday was totally unbearable I would literally Scream in pain, I couldn't stand, sit or walk, After 3 failed back surgery's elsewhere in under a year.....He thoroughly examined me and knew exactly what needed to be done, and it was explained in language I could understand.... We did try to avoid surgery using a state of the art Pain Management, but I needed another surgery. Dr Afshar with another Dr operated 0n my spine May 15 th this year. The day after my procedure I was walking without back pain... It is now the end of August and after physical therapy I am walking and have my Life Back without pain of any kind, or pain killers...... Dr Afshar did my cervical fusion in 2015 and had immediate relief from surgery. No more pain, no more numbness and tingling in my hand. A complete success story.

Dr Afshar and his staff are one of the most competent and caring facilities I have ever been to. I had a laminectomy 10 years ago and was starting to have severe pain and sciatica for about the last year in the same area. When I first came to Dr Afshar's office, Anita Reyes (Nurse Practitioner) greeted me in his office. She had an incredible caring and fun bedside manner and performed a few tests. When I was first presented with the fact that I needed a multi-level spinal fusion I was shocked at how much work I actually needed to have done. Dr Afshar took his time and explained what exactly needed to happen. I was obviously scared at the amount of surgery I needed to have done at 40 years old, but thought I would give it a shot since the pain I was in was unbearable. Dr. Afshar and his team were absolutely awesome. I recently had a cervical injury and have been in severe pain for a month. The team was extremely thorough with the exam and Dr. Afshar explained all of the treatment options in terms that were understandable and conservative approaches prior to recommending a procedure. Dr. John Afshar is a brilliant doctor and a person with big heart. He deeply cares about his patients. His nurse Robin I Shecter D.O. and an assistant Carisa are two angels. This was an unforgettable experience of kindness and care. They treated me as own father, it brought tears to my eyes.

"My wife had neck surgery in Jan. of 2021, And they (LASER SURGERY CENTER) insisted on us paying our deductible & co-pay to them instead of the Doctor. I have spoken to them (LASER SURGERY CENTER ) on numerous occasions about this, with NO RESULTS on my over payment of $3,123.00 , I've also Had my Insurance co. explain to them how this money should have went to the Doctor instead of them. This has gone on long enough & the Laser Surgery Center STILL is holding my money HOSTAGE, so do yourself a favor, DON"T GIVE THEM A DIME UNTIL YOUR SURE, BECAUSE YOU WON'T GET IT BACK FROM THEM!!!!!!!!!!! Dr. Afshire was Great its a shame that he affiliates with the LASER SURGERY CENTER of WEST PALM BEACH.

I’m having chronic back and leg pain. Spent time on the phone giving my medical and insurance information. I was then told all the information would be given to the doctor. I would then receive a call to set up an appointment with the nurse practitioner. I would then probably be sent for an MRI. Then an appointment with the doctor would be set up. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY CALL FOR ANY APPOINTMENTS! I even called and left a message that I’m waiting for a callback. This is not a caring way to operate. I certainly would have looked for another doctor sooner if I knew I would not see this doctor.

We saw a lot of people before him. They examined him from head to toe and then the Dr. who has a great bedside manner and listens and talks to you directly. We had a great visit.

I am very happy to see Dr. Afshar again. He has been my doctor since 2013. He always takes time to keep me up to date. I am grateful that Dr. Afshar did my surgery and was supportive before and after all the following years.

He is an amazing and caring doctor. Takes the time to explain and listen to patient. He called and chkd on me several times as did the surgery center. A rarity nowadays as its all about the monetary aspect.
