Dr Elsten did the most comprehensive exam ever! He is so clear when he explains the intricacies of the eye, eye health and vision!! He will always be an important part of our health team!

Dr. Elsten and his staff are THE BEST in the metroplex, hands down. I have never had such a positive eyecare experience, and I'm so glad I came here. My wife and I Love Joel. She went to him when he was at Target and we followed him to his new location. The staff is amazing also.

On a Saturday afternoon while working in the pasture, my husband got milkweed fluid in his eyes. Turns out it is very toxic and painful. When he decided it was unbearable, we began calling optometrist facilities within retail outlets but no optometrists were on duty. Oddly, an employee at one of these facilities gave us the name and phone # of her personal optometrist who turned out to be Dr. Elsten. To our surprise, Dr. Elsten returned our call, made an hour drive to meet us at his office, cleaned the eye and all was well. We apologized profusely but he made us feel that my husband's well being was of most importance. All this with no upcharge for an after hour visit. Amazing! I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Elsten because I was having issues with my one of me eyes and they saw me even though they were booked out completely. He took me on as a patient and was super professional and friendly. I had the best experience with him even though the visit was short. He made sure all my concerns were taken care of. First time seeing an optometrist that made me feel super comfortable. He is one of those doctors who truly loves what he does is good at it. Dr. Elsten is the BEST! I have seen him numerous times for eye exams and glasses prescriptions. I called his office yesterday morning and explained a problem I was having and was worried about. I was asked quite a few questions by Linda who felt I should be seen right away. Dr. Elsten stayed after his last appointment to see me at 5:00. He did a very thorough exam and explanation of what was happening in my left eye which thankfully turned out not to be serious. He was with me for almost an hour. Dr. Elsten is not only a great Optometrist he is a great man. In speaking with him you can tell he is a wonderful family man. The ladies in the office, Linda and Pat, are very friendly and helpful. MY EXPERIENCE WITH DR. ELSTEN HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GREAT EXPERIENCE BUT IT GOT EVEN BETTER WHEN I TOOK MY MOTHER FOR A MEDICAL APP BECAUSE AND HE FOUND OUT THAT FOR TWO WEEKS SHE HAD A SPLINTER ON TOP OF HER EYE LID AND SHE WAS IN REALLY BAD PAIN THANK YOU DR. ELSTEN YOUR SUCH A GREAT DOCTOR AND DO SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB EACH AND EVERY TIME.

I have been seeing Dr Elsten for 10 yrs!!! I won’t go anywhere.

Dr Elsten and his staff really take care of their patients. They helped me when I was having excruciating eye pain and Dr Elsten even came in on his day off to make sure I was ok.

Called Dr. Elsten's office Friday morning, and they got me in for an eye exam within the hour. Saw the doctor as soon as I was finished filling out a little paper work. Very thorough exam; he spent time explaining things to me, and I left feeling like I was well taken care of. This was my first time to see Dr. Elsten, but I'll definitely go back for my next exam. Last year my prescription eyeglasses became too strong between by yearly checkup at another OD. Dr. Elsten quickly took care of me and was able to find out the cause of my change in vision (a change in medication!) and I was able to get the right prescription. The office is friendly, attentive, and helpful. They are always looking to find you a great deal and are helpful with rebates on contacts. Dr. Elsten took care of my eye laceration last year and was amazing! He returned my call very early in the morning, before office hours, and saw me right away. He was kind, patient, calm, and reassuring when I came into the office super scared, in pain and not able to see. Lots of times Doctors forget how scary it can be for a patient who knows nothing about the situation but Dr. Elsten explained everything to me and let me know everything would be fine. Knowledgeable and nice doctor, nice receptionist

He’s honestly the best. I’ve been seeing him for years, since he was at target Optical, once I saw he was gone from there I went to his new office, still in Rowlett. I’ve had eye problems since I was born and he has always been very honest when he does my eye exams. He will give his best recommendations when it comes to your eye care. He is very knowledgeable and very confident. I’ve previously dealt with other doctors but none came close to the service that he provides. He is very caring and doesn’t rush when helping you. He takes his time and will go through every single thing possible, if you feel uncomfortable at any time with the prescription you’re trying he will go through every single lens to make sure it’s the best one, at least I think that’s what they’re called. You know that machine with all the different lenses. He will probably be my eye doctor for life. I have now moved pretty far away but I travel all the way to Rowlett to get my eyes checked by him. His new office is nice and inviting and also the receptionist is an angel, she is super nice and she is also funny. Please do yourself a favor and see him, he will blow you away. He’s an amazing doctor but he is so kind and patient and really cares about each and every person who walks in!

Excellent Dr. not ur stereotypical "family" eye dr. He's young smart experienced mentored & confident. He's knowledgeable of current tech & not persnickety about doing things differently now that tech has improved. He's smart & shares his knowledge w/his patents. My 3 kids (16,14,12) have been his patients for yrs. Dr Elsten has always discussed their eyes directly with them. Afterwards he follows up w/me. Very caring staff, I love that Dr.Elsten explains things to his patients and is amazingly detail oriented. Great experience through the years. Love the new beautiful office with glasses and contact supply. A real asset to the Rowlett community for almost a decade now because of his dedication to helping families see more clearly.
