Dr. Bauer has performed 3 of my intestinal surgeries due to Crohn's Disease. He has given me a great quality of life. I just ran my first NYC Marathon less than 2 years after my last surgery.

I have been a patient of Manhattan Surgical Associates for approximately 40 years. Dr. Bauer has been a very concerned and dedicated physician and surgeon. His expertise and experience in the field and specifically about my medical history has been outstanding. He is very responsive to emergency calls and does not hesitate with a quick office visit and also to refer me for immediate attention to a colleague within and outside the practice. Dr. Bauer is an excellent doctor. He performed a 2 step j-pouch surgery for me about a year and a half ago and because of his extraordinary work I am able to live my life to the fullest! Dr. Bauer is extremely knowledgable and confident in his field of work.

If you're looking for the best of the best colonrectal surgeons in the country, Dr. Bauer more than meets that criteria. I couldn't be more pleased with Dr. Bauer's expertise, bedside manner, and time and patience he gives to his patients. He has so much experience and knowledge and is an incredible surgeon. My procedure went flawlessly and I am so thankful I found Dr. Bauer to perform it. There wasn't a moment I felt uncomfortable or concerned and he made me feel like I was his only patient.

Dr. Bauer literally gave me my life' back. When I came to see him to repair a surgery conducted by another doctor, I was extremely physically weak, in pain and despondent. His skill gave me my life back. But perhaps more important (and usual for a prominent surgeon) he was totally committed to seeing my case through. He called me back promptly, was patient with my many questions and kind to me and my family during the worst period of my life. Staff is also excellent! i highly recommend him

Dr. Bauer has been my surgeon for about 5 years now and I couldn't recommend him more strongly. He constantly strives to provide the best care before, after and during the procedure. Dr. Bauer listens to his patients concerns and explains every decision which is often rare in the field. Despite his high demand and busy schedule, he takes the time to ensure all his patients are well informed and cared for with the highest standards. His bedside manner is commensurate to his skill as a surgeon.

Dr. Bauer, a pioneer in Kock Pouch and J pouch procedures, is widely acknowledged as one of the finest colorectal surgeons in the world. Furthermore, he has taught these procedures to a generation of surgical residents who, in turn, have risen to the top of the field---the majority, in fact. Dr. Bauer created a J pouch for me--in one surgery--Every other surgeon I consulted insisted that two surgeries were the minimum. Fifteen years later, and my pouch is still working perfectly. Dr Bauer saved my life multiple times.He is a highly specialized Dr yet old schooled, caring and effective surgeon. My 1st surgery with him was high risk and other surgeons lacked either the desire or ability to preform this complicated surgery which was completed flawlessly It resulted in a colostomy bag which proved to be a depressing thing for a young woman with a young family. He performed a 2nd surgery which made my me able to function like a normal person for the 1st time in many years
