Dr Cates is excellent!! His entire staff is wonderful & extremely efficient!!

Appmt on March 13 for ultrasound arterial blood velocities. Technician was efficient and friendly. No discussion of results after tests. March 17th received email regarding recent appt.l saying to log into my patient portal acct for results. Did so and found out only that I showed up for appt. NO RESULTS, I would lIked to know results in velocities and blood pressures at varius locations in arteries. Am I OK or do I need corrective procedures.

I was referred to Dr Cates by my primary care physician. I found him to be very knowledgeable, authentic and kind. He took care of my mothers surgery. He was excellent

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Cate's. I have had three major surgeries now with him in the last 5 years. He has also done surgery on my husband. His manner is calming, kind and professional and you can tell he take his job very serious. But best of all his work is outstanding. I believe he is the best in Kansas City and I know I'm not alone in that thought. His nurse Vanessa is great too, along with the other staff. If you need vascular surgery, Dr. Cate's is hands down the best!

Dr. Cates responded to my initial call weekend hours within 10 minutes, took my information over the phone, agreed with my concerns re: needing urgent carotid surgery for a high grade carotid stenosis and quickly made arrangements for an Office visit, imaging and subsequent surgery. Kind, efficient, excellent surgical expertise, and good post op management. I can recommend him without reservation.

Dr Cates expksined the results of my scan with knowledge and care. He gave options for my condition. He took the wait and see option and did not just recommend surgery to fix the issue. I appreciated this but also gave me suggestions to watch for complications.

Dr Joe Cates had compassion on me. I had a melon size pancreatic tumor removed with no CANCER left for over 3 years. No chemotherapy, no radiation, no pills. Just annual check up. I can’t say enough of Dr. Cates! And his staff. He is easy to talk to, never hurries. Wonderful care. My husband has been with him several years, surgeries and doctor visits. Wonderful experiences all around.

I donated my kidney to my husband. Dr. Cates did my part of the surgery, the kidney removal. I cannot say enough good things about him, his team, the transplant coordination and the aftercare. I wish I could give him more stars. He is a very skilled surgeon with a kind and patient bedside manner who is both reassuring and forthcoming with information. His aftercare team was in to see me every day and readily available for questions.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cates for 3 years, could not have found a better surgeon. He has done a major surgery on me in 2014 and followed my care since. He is very easy to talk with, he makes sure that you understand everything before you leave his office. If you need a Whipple procedure for pancreatic cancer, look no further than Dr. Cates. His technical skill and experience in this extremely difficult surgery is outstanding. He's exactly what you need in a surgeon: confident, determined and experienced. I'm alive today because he removed all the Stage IIIB pancreatic cancer from me and successfully re-plumbed my innards to function. It's a long, slow, grueling recovery but know you're in good hands with Dr. Cates. 10/10 would choose him again!

Dr Cates is an excellent Dr. He is very understanding of your situation and informs you as what is needed to be done in order to correct your issue. I have had WHIPPLE surgery in 2006 and a fistula in 2017. I would reccomend Dr Cates to anyone needing the type of surgeries that he performs.
