Dr. Powell corrected the problem I had with the phone system in her office. I had a virtual appointment for my special needs daughter who struggles with all appointments. Trying to reduce her anxiety, I called 2 hours before the appointment to ask how do I access the portal, the office staff said you will receive something before the appointment. At the time of the appointment, I had not received any emails and when I tried to access through my text it failed. I called the office to get help and was on hold for over an hour. Since during this wait, my daughter was melting down terribly, I called the exchange 2 TIMES and did not hear from anyone for over an hour. When I did, I was made to reschedule FOR NO FAULT OF MINE until December 21st. During the wait I called SLU tech support trying to figure out how to get on the portal myself only to be told because she was a minor, I had to go through the office. Why was I not instructed on how to use the portal when I made the appointment. My special needs daughter suffered because not one but many in Dr. Jill Powell's office lacked acting with communication and compassion. I have been on hold for 2 HOURS. Not exaggerating.

I wish Dr. Powell could be my GP. After my baby was born in 06, i developed a pea sized knot in my back, a year later, she noticed it had grown to the size of my palm- thanks to her i had it looked into and treated. (Turned out to be spastic nerve bundle.) She always takes time to talk about my whole health, physical and mental, and even asked about my daughter, who is a past patient of hers, at my last visit. I would give her a zero if I could. The worst availability and clearly does not care about her patients. Both myself and my best friend have gone to her and have had equally bad experiences with her. Her staff is kind though.

Felt like she was not listening to me. Fatphobic without giving me any solution to my weight gain- which she said was the reason for my issue that I came there for. Weird that when I say I have trouble losing weight that she wouldn't give me any suggestions. Especially since she said losing weight would solve my problem. Notes on MyChart were really callous and rude, seemed to blame me for my weight gain (after being on 2 medications known to cause weight gain AND having a condition that causes weight gain) as well as my chronic pain that is caused by a LITERAL genetic disorder.

She was my first obgyn and she gave me diagnosed PTSD. I wanted the pill and she made me get paps every year which were not necessary because of my health and they were very traumatizing and painful for me. Once she guilted me when I refused a humiliating exam and made me sign a paper that said lord knows what so she would sign off on the pill. She does not care about her patients comfort. Don't go to her.

When I was getting the pill for the first time, she pressured me into paps multiple times. Once, she said she wouldn’t prescribe me the pill when I refused an unneeded exam and I had to sign a waiver.

Dr. Powell is an outstanding individual. Dr. Powell is extremely committed to caring for her patients, she has excellent bed side communication skills, is extremely thorough during the exam process and extremely patient and understanding. I have been under her care since 1990 and would highly recommend her for your ob gyn needs. Thank You Dr. Jill Powell for your sincere dedication to my ob gyn care!!!!!!
