I've watched this dr put people in nursing homes with a broken shoulder. Never made it out. Healthy otherwise but both people stroked out in nursing home and died. I am now watching him allow a 68 yr old gentleman go through such horrendous health issues and the meds he prescribed sent him straight to ER. The side effects were everything he was being treated FOR. He has a 5 star bc only 1 person reviewed him. Well the truth is, if hes not at one of his "lake houses" he may see you. But good luck getting any better. Know way too many people he has NOT helped and hurt some. I'd go to a vet before I went to him. And if he admits you, dont expect to see HIM while in hospital. Ever. A very good Dr. Very friendly staff.

A very kind, caring and gentle doctor. Has a very calming effect and is very encouraging. Very gifted at diagnosis and treatment.He really listens and leaves time for you to ask questions. He is a very talented doctor. I can't recommend Dr. Jerry Whetzel highly enough!

Well I never got the chance to see him, see you can't make an appointment to see anyone in the Portland, In. area as you have to apply to be a patient, fill out an application like I'm gonna work for the office, I am in need of a good doctor who will listen to my concerns and answer my questions not to say well tell them out front and we can make extra time for you, my concerns are my elvated BP and fasting BS was 121 in September 2019 and A1c was 6.7 avg. BS was 144 that is after I had been taking Metformin ER 500mg 1 daily I ask if I could take 2 a day, now I'm right there in his office and he said tell them out front and they can schedule extra time, extra time for what to do a couple of key strokes in his computer WOW unbelivable so I wanted to go to another doctor who would be as concerned about my health as I am, but not at Jay family Health no "They are unable to assume my health care needs at this time" well when is a good time!!!

Great doctor, very professional and yet personal as well. He is very knowledgeable in all areas of family practice. I would recommend him to anyone in need of a family doctor.
