Mr. Jerry Dean West

Does not enforce consistent mask usage in his office despite CDC guidlines to contain the spread of COVID. He has chosen to ignore the medical science which in my opinion makes his medical judgement suspect. He is too out of touch with current guidelines to be an effective doctor. He needs to either keep up or retire. Nice guy, but not so nice I am willing to catch COVID from him because the staff in his office doesn't want to do the right thing and Dr. West lacks the leadership to make them.

Dr. West is not requiring staff to wear masks despite CDC guidelines. His staff doesn't want to do it and he does not want to make them. He has prioritized their ignorance and interoffice harmony over the health and safety of his patients. When asked why he is allowing this, by his own admission he has no excuse. If his staff will not wear masks in a medical office in front of their physician boss it is likely they are not exercising caution anywhere. In that small enclosed environment if one gets covid they all will, then even if you and Dr. West are wearing masks during your exam, he is an optometrist so he is within two inches of your face during the exam. He will risk infecting you. Is being exposed to a life threatening virus so that Dr. West doesn't have to have an uncomfortable conversation with his receptionists worth it to you? I would rather go to a doctor who understands medical science and has the strength of character to set the appropriate example to his staff. That is not Dr. West. If you care about your health, find a more competent doctor. Others in his same building enforce mask wearing it with no issues. Maybe take your business to them.

Dr. West is a great optometrist. He’s very professional and provides honest feedback. In my opinion, Susan is the true MVP of that office. She never forgets to call and politely remind me of my appointment. But most importantly she always makes my day with her kind words and personable attitude.
