Reviews for Dr. Jeffrey A Sandler
Find a different endocrinologist. I’ve never had a doctor be so cruel. I’m 23, have hashimotos, but otherwise fit as can be. This doctor had me believing I had cancer and needed to do biopsies. Come to find out that they were never going to be cancer it was just a way to get more money out of me. He does not care about root causes of disease. He told me everything was genetic. Just wants to pump you full of meds. Did I mention the staff? Oh lord. The attitude they have. That is if you get them on the phone. They never. EVER. Answer. Doesn’t matter how important your call is. I have been hung up on. When I was trying to get the cancer results they withheld them for 3 weeks. I had to get them directly from the hospital because they would not book me an appointment or give me the results. I was sobbing begging on the phone with the front desk staff to just let me know and they wouldn’t. I’ve never had a more traumatic experience with a doctor and his staff. Please. Do not do this to yourself. Find another doctor. There are others in San Diego. No one deserves to be treated like this.
Rudest staff ever! The phone is always busy and if they do answer they say they will return your call. So unprofessional.
If there is less than one star I would give it to them. This doctor has very bad front service i been trying to make appointment since last year almost a year ago, they don’t pick up a phone when I leave a message no one called back. I just tried right now to call them she answered the phone i was talking with her she said gonna put me on hold while I’m talking. She doesn’t wanna listen to me and then hung up. Very very bad service, attitude , and impolite. When the doctor have that kind of front service that’s mean he is not good doctor and unprofessional. I would never call them again. Don’t waste ur time.
This office is horrible, the phone line is busy all day, they don’t return calls. When they finally answer they are rude and unhelpful. The have a “well I don’t know what to tell you” philosophy. I’ve been trying to get an appointment through a referral for 8 weeks.
0 stars I have tried calling 20 times over the last week to get my prescription ordered for my thyroid disease and the number is always ‘busy’ and won’t ring and then went it finally rings it says they are on their hour long lunch break and otherwise only open 9-3, not 12-1, there is NO mychart option to email or message, no voicemail you can leave and they send your visit notes by mail a week later which is the most old fashioned Ive seen in 30 years. 0 stars I have tried calling 20 times over the last week to get my prescription ordered for my thyroid disease and the number is always ‘busy’ and won’t ring and then went it finally rings it says they are on their hour long lunch break and … More
I've been trying to schedule an appointment for a whole week now. 90% of the time nobody answers the phone. The office hours are inconsistent and there is a very small window of time when you can actually contact the office. Once you do, you're met by rude, condescending, and incompetent staff. I had my physician's referral faxed multiple times, and the staff keep ignoring it. Do not waste your time here. People from front desk are unfriendly! The office open from 9 am to 3 pm! Switching to a different endocrinologist!
I had a referral from my primary doctor and made several attempts to make an appointment here. The front staff said they didn't have my referral which my primary confirmed they do. It's in the system. The office staff are rude and condescending and a poor reflection of what people working in healthcare should be like. Verify my review on the multiple others with similar situations on Google reviews. It truly is pathetic. My primary is now sending me elsewhere as I refuse to go to this medical office.
I just called today to book my first appointment and the receptionist was so short & rude for NO reason. Lack of customer service. I didn’t even bother to explain anything, Switching to a different endocrinologist!????
Dr. Sandler is an exceptional clinician. He’s funny, kind and I know I am in good hands. I highly recommend him to everyone.

I just want to say that after reading the reviews, I feel so disappointed in myself for even trying to come here. The very FEW times that I have called to either ask a question or get some type of answer , I have been treated with so much disrespect, it’s actually ridiculous. I went ahead and contacted my primary doctor to see what we could do moving forward because I literally do not feel comfortable coming here or speaking to the staff ! If any of the staff gets ahold of this : check yourself (: if your job makes you that unhappy & majority of the reviews are filled with only negativity because of YOUR terrible attitude, find another one. Office staff extremely rude and condescending. They never have your labs readily available for review, it appears the patient is more informed than the office. So sad for Healthcare today :(
Worst front desk ever. So rude and disrespectful. Dr. Jeffrey Sandler I hope you see all these reviews and realize that your front desk staff need to be change because they are giving your business a terrible reputation.
Everyone at the receptionist area are so rude. They never let you finish talking about your concern and always hang up on you. My Telehealth appointment is never on time always an hour or more pass my appointment time. Everyone in this office needs to learn respect and manners

They disrespect patients time. Appointment is at 1pm and It’s 2:27pm now and I’m still waiting to receive the call for my mom appointment.
The office staff at Dr Sandler’s office was rude, NOT Trauma-Informed, belittled me and had no apparent knowledge of challenges and hardships of being a patient at all, let alone someone living with type 1 diabetes, but demonstrated ignorance in mental health and crisis basic communication. I left Sandler’s care because of this incident and have been continuously mistreated. This disappointing behavior is beyond “bed side manner”. I do not recommend this personality as a whole. Dr. Sandler has been GREAT in his care with me so far. Very patient and extremely wise. He is thorough and has a lot of experience in his field. He catches things many other doctors don’t and is very attentive to what your saying. I absolutely LOVE him, however; you have to deal with the a very rude, insensitive and incompetent receptionist to get to him which STINKS because it’s a horrible way to enter and continue your relationship with SUCH a great Doctor. I do hope he considers giving her a different position because she is very frustrating and depressing to speak with and doesn’t make you feel good at all (anyone seeing an endo already feels horrible!) There are MULTIPLE reviews on this receptionist so I hope one more will change things. She doesn’t do anything to help you and you feel worse after speaking to her than you did when you called...however, if you can get past her vibe you WILL see a wonderful Doctor- That I stand by! After suffering a major misdiagnosis by my (“world-renowned” neurological/neurosurgical university hospital) employer in 2015 - 2016, I was left with a disability that forced me to move to CA. Since 2016, I have spent years being mistreatment by nearly every UCSD physician (Neurosurgery, Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, Rheumatology, Pulmonology, OBGYN) I’ve come in contact with. They have each contributed, layer upon layer, to a severe form of medical PTSD. I know terrible clinicians, and I know them from within a medical system I have worked IN for decades. All that to say, I can’t find a negative word to say about Dr. Sandler from a “professional patients” perspective (yes; that is a thing...). I do know he’s gotten frustrated with his staff. I do not know the background or context for the upset, but he has always been kind to me. His staff hasn’t always been as decent, but, again, I’m a patient there, not an employee, so I won’t judge either aspect. Just based on all of my personal interactions with Dr. Sandler, he’s been kind, professional, and exceptional in a class and age of more than a few mediocre clinicians. In my opinion Jeffrey A Sandler MD is a complete Genius! He has been practicing Medicine since the year I was born in 1971. He finally medically diagnosed me with a severe case of Reactive Hypoglycemia in March of this year after I had been complaining about needing to be on a self-imposed Low-Carb High Animal Protein Diet since Tuesday morning November 7 of 2000. Medical Science had been giving me the run-arounds for over 19 years before he finally cracked my case! I give him ?????????? for quality, satisfaction ?? and excellence. Please have a visit with him and he will show you compassion ????

I remember Dr Sandler very well. I wish I didn't! Before he went to San Diego, he practiced in Altoona PA. Along with Dr Wolford. I was 18 years old, and I remember every detail!!!! Even 40 years later! If I could have given him negative stars, I would have!!! I will NEVER forget what he did to me!!!
First visit today. Arrived about 20 minutes before and sign in, sat down and waited to be called to fill out paperwork. I sat for 15 minutes while the reception was talking to her coworker. I then got up and asked her was there paperwork for me to do. She said “ Oh!! What your name again”. Dr Sandler was my doctor for a few years back ~2012-2014. He was direct and explained everything to me, he treated me with respect, and allowed me to take control of my treatment. I completely trust his opinions and insight, and am very thankful he was my doctor. The office staff on the other hand (I’d give them 0 stars if they could be a separate review) were completely incompetent. It would take me multiple tries over several days to get through to them on the phone to make an appointment, then I’d come in to go over test results and my results would be misfiled, appointments would regularly be an hour late. " I saw Jeffrey A. Sandler MD last July. I have some kind of hypoglycemic condition whenever I eat carbohydrates without enough animal protein. I know that he can help me."
Thinks outside the box. Will work with you instead of forcing you into text book medicine. One of very few doctors that seems to know everyone is unique and needs unique treatment for their needs.
Was recommended By Dr Rogers who is leaving her practice, and can't get a appt til Sept. This is June and she needs to be checked and her medicine. Terrible patient care.
His office left me a message at 10:05 requesting I call before 2 PM. I received the message at 3:15. After being on hold for 20 minutes, I was informed my appointment was cancelled because I didn't call by 2. I waited 3 months for this appointment! Go anywhere but here.
In all of my years, nearly 75, I have never had such a horrible experience, with a Doctor and the staff. It took me 4 months to get in to see this clown. He asked me why I was there? I told him I needed help losing weight. He laughed! Then he asked my age, if I lived alone, then said, "impossible, impossible, impossible"! You will never be able to lose weight. I said, to him, "This is what I waited 4 months for,?" Then he decides, "well we can order a Thyroud Tscan." I gave my insurance cards to his staff, to copy. They said, "We will call yiuyto setup an appointment." 2 weeks later, I got my Thyroid scan. They said he will get back to me with the results. Nothing! Then one day, I stopped by this 'disorganized' office and ask them for my results. Then they said, "oh, the Doctor is going to send you a letter. Finally, I get something in the mail from these idiits! It was a bill. I was libid! I have a "no pay, copay policy." I wrote on the dam bill, that I would not being paying this bill, for 2 reasons. One, I never received my results if my Thyroid Scan & two, I don't pay any copays, ever! I was furious! Finally, I found out, that my Primary Care Physician had received these results. I still don't know my results. DA? I honestly do NOT understand how the hell, this old man is still practicing and not only is he rude, dismissive, but was yelling at his staff while I was standing there. Thank God I don't need him! On multiple occasions, while waiting in the front office to be seen by Dr. Sandler, I could hear him yelling at his staff, berating them and being downright rude. He yelled so loud we could all hear him in the waiting area. It was awful. I also suffered for years after being diagnosed by him with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis as I continued to eat gluten, not knowing I should be avoiding it, due to the autoimmune aspect of Hashimoto’s. The front office staff and nurses were all very kind and polite; but I do not recommend Dr. Sandler. If I could give negative stars I would...Rudest Staff and receptionist ever. So i took my dad here for his first appointment his appointment was t at 1:45 we arrived at 1:35pm and weren't seen till 3pm! While there were patients that came in way after us and were seen before. My dad is a end of renal failure patient and can't sit for very long. I tell the staff that and they proceed to make us wait. After we are finally seen, I complained to the nurse and she say "well that's not our fault we called him yesterday to see what he needed so we don't even know why we are seeing him today" then I say "he came because he was referred here by a doctor and he has diabetes why else would he be here.." I ask if there was anyways he could see the doctor soon cause at this point his body is aching. She then rudely tells me well we don't know you will just have to wait it could be 15min to an hour. Ugh anyways I recently had to call in a again to reschedule and appointment that he was going to have recently. The line was busy for like 1hr, I finally reach someone and asked very politely if they could help me reschedule for either an earlier time for today's appointment or a different day. The receptionist is like "no, no we go off on lunch we aren't going to take him" which then I say, "well in that case would you at least help me schedule for a later date then" she then goes, "no, no we are all booked" and at this point I'm angry so I say "well you got to find me a solution some how it's your job to work with appointment schedule.." and she finally says "we can do opening slot on wednesday". Dr. Sandler is a great doctor with a great sense of humor. I recommend him to everyone. But his staff are very rude with the patients over the phone and in person
Dr Sandler saved my life, I had seen so many doctors before him who completely missed the diagnosis and Dr. Sandler made the correct diagnosis the first day I visited his office. I would give him Zero. All he does is keep telling patients his dumb jokes and calling his staff bad words. He should retire. If you feel bored and want to hear dumb unfunny jokes then, go to this dr otherwise find another good dr.
If it is posible to put 0 stars I would do it. They have the worst service the lady kept us on hold for 10 minutes when she said one monent. Also when I said I was new and needed a appoiment she said we have to wait till March and who knows if I cancer and I will die before March. They just care about money not about anybodys' health
Dr. Sandler is wonderful, he really knows his stuff, he is so patient and really cares about his patients health. The staff on the other hand, in person are great, but when you call, it is hard to get through and they are rude
Dr. Sandler is a great Dr. With many years of experience. Thank you for all your help and support in keeping me healthy. Not many Doctors that show that they care, but you definitely show that you do. Thank you

Didn't know what to expect when I arrived at the Office. Everyone treated me with courtesy and respect. Dr. Sandler is a gentleman. When I left the office, I felt protected and I know for sure my health is in the best hands. Thank you Dr. Sandler and staff, you are my guardian Angels.

If I could give zero stars I would! It took Dr. Sandler a week to go over my chart to determine whether I would be seen before the next available appointment in 5 months for several new nodules on my thyroid, one needing to be biopsied, just to find out he didn't even review/receive the ultrasound. I had called his office several times prior to this and they told me they had everything. I even had my GP call and let him know it was urgent as per request from his receptionist. He's claiming it is not necessary to see me before 5 months. That is absolutely ridiculous to assume that before seeing the ultrasound and doing a biopsy! If you don't have any appointments for 5 months then don't be accepting new patients. His receptionists are rude, insensitive, leave you on hold forever, have ZERO follow up and one time I was even left on hold while the office went to lunch for an hour an half. The receptionists never even apologized for leaving me on hold when I told them nor did any of them apologize when I told them I had called and left voicemails without getting a call in return or even a call when Dr. Sandler finally did review my chart. have gone to him for years as nothing was wrong with me, but....the last few years I have thought about changing!! He has one hand on the door knob and the other foot out the door in 2 minutes. IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY. He must book 50 patients an hour. It won't be me for sure.

I just left the navy after 5 years. No clue on how the civilian health insurance/finding a doctor went. So only after I made an appointment with Dr. Sandler did I see the reviews and that somewhat scared me... I had 5 stars on here because to be honest Dr. Sandler was awesome and deserves 5 stars. However, his whole staff needs to be fired. All I needed was a prior authorization for my prescription. It's been 2+ weeks and I doubt if Doc Sandler even knows that I've been waiting on it. Every time I call, it's either put on hold for 1 hr (then I hang up), busy tone, another office answers because his staff isn't there, or I flat out get hung up on mid sentence. Sadly doesn't matter how great the Doc is if you can't get ahold of them to get a very important prescription. Other reviews complain that they hear doc Sandler dropping the F bomb on his staff.
