I have seen Dr McGowan a few times when I have had problems with my knees. Dr McGowan after doing a thorough evaluation, explains very clearly what the problem is with my knees and the treatment that will work best for me. Dr McGowans PA Matt Watson is very knowledgeable, understanding and explains the procedures he performs very clearly. I highly recommend Dr McGowan to anyone that may have Hip or knee problems.

He bed side manner is impatient. I had high anxiety about receiving a steroid shot which really irritated him. So he was done with me. He said stay on Ibuprofen over the weekend & good luck to you! Guess I am looking now for another Dr. who can be patient & understanding with people who want to improve their life’s activities & are afraid of needles.

I was very disappointed with Dr. Jeffrey Mcgowen. After consulting with him I learned he wouldn’t take my case because I had a underlying condition... He made me feel rejected and embarrassed for even consulting in him. He Didn’t care to help me at all...he through some names of different types of drs out to me and didn’t even write them down for me! He was so negative to me! He just rushed me out. I went to another specialist that is positive and he is happy to do my knee replacement and get me out of the pain that I’m in. I’m a self pay patient so that means I have to pay everything up front. I have the means to do this. I’m my life I’ve had anxiety and depression and he doesn’t like to do surgery on patients that have had these diagnoses. He never looked at my knee his PA did but not the Dr. he said my BMI was high but below the BMI he would do surgeries. He was ONLY concerned about the money and getting paid and recovery that I wouldn’t put in the time because my weight. First, I’m fat because I can’t excersise . I need a knee replacement and I’m 53. I also have arthritic spinal stenosis with herniated discs, I don’t know about you but it’s really hard to excercise when you’re in chronic pain, at least enough to get your heart rate up enough to loose weight. He gave me about 10-15 minutes of his time. He may be a big shot good surgeon but he’s not a very good person. Not for me. I’m a self pay patient so that means I have to pay everything up front. Dr. McGowen was extremely polite and caring in regard to my knee impairment. He took the time to explain in layman terms the probable cause of my knee problem. Left hip replaced 6 years ago by Dr. McGowen and he will be replacing my right next month. I returned due to the excellent care I received first time around. I was 45 yrs old and scared to death, but immediately after taking the first step on my new hip, I wished I had made the decision to have surgery years prior. The first surgery was at the main hospital and this one will be at Clearfork. They have big shoes to fill to match the wonderful care I received first time around, but given the professionalism and sincere concern of Dr. McGowen for his patients, I expect nothing less. I would recommend Dr. McGowen to all my friends and family. He is very professional, but yet caring. I thought I had a hip issue and after he exam me and did his x-ray he found it was not my hip but my back. He is thorough doctor who knows what he is doing. I appreciate him and this office very much.

I waited 4 weeks to get an appointment to see Dr McGowan. I was told he was excellent so I patiently waited. He was rather cold and had a take it or leave it attitude. I have insurance coverage for up to 20 days in a rehabilitation facility after my surgery. Dr McGowan said he wouldn't do the surgery if I went to a rehab facility. He said I would need to come home and get live in care for 48 hours which is expensive. When I go I wondered if that was because of the coronavirus scare so I called and left a message for his nurse Cassie to call me so I could ask her if I put surgery off until the virus scare is over could I then go to rehab which my insurance pays for. I understand the concern about getting an infection in rehab. Well I have been playing telephone tag with her for 2 weeks and never been able to ask her my question. There is no real person you can speak with when you call the office number. Just a long rambling voicemail. I've given up making contact.

Dr. McGowan is very professional, thorough, and considerate. He seems like a "down to earth" type of person and was honest with me about my left hip. Luckily there is nothing wrong with my hip but he gave me lots of food for thought about my back. Suggesting doctors I could see for further diagnosis about the pain I am experiencing. Dr. McGowen is the nicest doctor I have ever encountered. He is very thorough and listens to you. He made me less nervous and very comfortable with our conversation. I definitely would recommend him to my family, friends or anyone who needs to see an orthopedic surgeon.

Would not go to anyone else. Dr. McGowen is awesome. He replaced both of my knees 3 months apart. It is a rough recovery but if you listen and follow all of his directions, all will go well. Also kudos to Cassie and the rest of his staff. They are all awesome. Also kudos to all the staff at Clearfork hospital. They all do an awesome job too.

Outstanding experience with Dr. McGowan and immediate staff- all attentive to my needs for successful surgery and recuperation. His PA and nurse practitioner were great. Tx Health Clearfork was a fantastic facility for my knee replacement.

Dr. McGowen answers my questions and explains everything. He has done knee replacements on both knees and is very patient and kind.

It was all good except for the receptionist up front. She was rude and unfriendly. Rest of the staff were very good as well as Dr. McGowen. I always get in & out pretty quickly even though he seems very thorough.

Doctor McGowen is a great doctor. I have place myself in his care for three surgeries so far and have scheduled a fourth. My recovery has been great. If you need a knee and/or hip surgeon, he would be a great choice.

Dr. McGowen is one of the best ortho doctors, hands down. He is up front about all of my options for care. His entire staff is wonderful! I am called to the back in just a few minutes after I check in. If you are looking for an orthopedist, Dr. McGowen should be at the top of the list.

He listened carefully to my description of my symptoms, he did x-rays right away and then referred me across the street to have Doppler done on my left leg. . The injection he administered to my knee really helped relieve the soreness I had been experiencing. I would definitely return to Dr. McGowen with further symptoms or any other knee or hip pain. Dr. McGowen has replaced my right hip and both knees and is remarkable. I have referred him to several of my friends. He is super and believe me you won't find a better hip and knee doctor in the U.S. Last Friday I went in for a routine follow-up visit. My wife Gayle always likes to go but was going out of town with some girlfriends from Dallas and she almost had me re-schedule. Seriously. 8 month post operative Total Hip Replacement follow up. 2 Major areas of concern. Continuous groin pain and lower hip pain. He reviewed latest MRI and concluded his replacement was perfect with no explanation or suggestion of future tests to determine cause of pain with the exception of an injection in groin area to "calm things down". No other follow up was scheduled with him. He stated 2 times upon leaving the room " I wish I had never touched your hip".
